How did the players rate as Scotland lose to Slovakia in their penultimate Nations League tie?

Scotland had some good chances this afternoon, but were thwarted by some impressive goalkeeping and a lack of killer touch inside the penalty area.

That's three goals scored in the past five games, with just two conceded.

The floodgates opening in Israel would be a welcome surprise.

Of course, Lyndon Dykes will be back from suspension for that trip to Israel and the big striker is yet to lose a game in Scotland colours.

He was a real handful against Serbia on Thursday and has two goals in six internationals.

Callum McGregor and Ryan Jack will probably resume their central midfield partnership and Scott McTominay is another likely to come back into the side.

Scotland finish up away to familiar foes Israel.

Israel managed a 1-1 draw at Hampden in September, while it ended 0-0 in the Euro play-off semi final last month before David Marshall got going with part one of his penalty shootout heroics.

Scotland were last in Israel in October 2018 and lost 2-1.

Steve Clarke's side may well need maximum points to end up top of the table.

Scotland attacker Ryan Christie has just told Sky Sports: "We're still very happy with the performance. We're disappointed to lose.

"The unbeaten run finally comes to an end. The gaffer's just said, there's a away to end a run like that and that's with a performance like that.

"We had visions of coming here and topping our group but we're going to have to do that on Wednesday.

"We've played Israel plenty times and every time we've played it's been neck and neck so we expect the same going over there. Hopefully we can top that group."

Scotland are still on top of the group following that frustrating defeat - and they will stay there going into Wednesday's final fixtures.

Steve Clarke's side stay on 10 points, with the Czech Republic on six and Israel on five. Those two meet in Plzen this evening. Keep everything crossed for a draw there... That would allow Kieran Tierney to get back on the decks early.

Phew! I thought Leigh Griffiths had come up with the goods there. It was some save from Marek Rodak, who had earlier kept out a Kenny McLean header with a flying stop.

Those were the only real chances fashioned by Scotland in the second half after a strong first 45 minutes, but they were both excellent saves.
