Joel Matip gives it away but Rhys Williams reacts well to head a through ball which would have caused problems.

Former Crystal Palace striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

James Milner is the best professional I've ever seen out there - not necessarily in terms of football just how professional he is. How he looks after himself, he's probably the first on the training pitch and last to leave. He's just a testament to himself that he's managed to play at this level for such a long time.

  4. Postpublished at 19 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Atalanta

Josip Ilicic's lofty pass finds a teammate on the far side of Liverpool's area but it's poorly controlled.

Liverpool look to break quickly but Divock Origi is fouled by Cristian Romero. Softly (but he won't care)!

  5. Postpublished at 17 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Atalanta

James 'Messi' Milner slides a lovely ball through to Divock Origi on the right. He wins a throw-in.

  6. Postpublished at 15 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Atalanta

It's not really got going yet. Atalanta have had the better chances but they are only just starting to get a foot on the ball.

Liverpool win it back and it's Rhys Williams, on to Joel Matip.

  7. Postpublished at 12 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Atalanta

Rhys Williams is the target as Liverpool take a free-kick from just inside the Atalanta half.

He's bundled off it by goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini and Atalanta's Robin Gosens comes off worse when he's caught by his elbow.

  8. 'Difficult game for Liverpool tonight'published at 20:12 Greenwich Mean Time 25 November 2020

    Liverpool 0-0 Atalanta

    Clinton Morrison
Former Crystal Palace striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's been a positive start from Atalanta, they've been on the front foot so far. In their first meeting when Liverpool beat them comfortably they did have some chances and Allison did have to make some saves so it is a difficult game for Liverpool tonight.

    Wake up Liverpool...

Joel Matip is running on his heels again with Alejandro Gómez driving at him on the edge of the box.

He drills it low and it's not too far away from the right corner.

Rob: Re: 19:58 - did I just read that Arsenal named TOM CRUISE in their starting name in 2009? What a world we live in. Didn't know he was Champions League standard.

I'm sorry, I do not recall Tom Cruise playing for Arsenal. Their mission cant have been that impossible!

    Inter Milan 0-1 Real Madrid

Early drama at the San Siro as Anthony Taylor points to the spot after Inter Milan's Nicolo Barella trips Nacho inside the box.

Former Chelsea man Eden Hazard steps up and puts Real Madrid a goal to the good within six minutes.

A mountain to climb now for Inter to make it through to the knockout stages.

  12. CLOSE!published at 10 mins

    Liverpool 0-0 Atalanta

This is a pretty decent save you know!

It's sloppy from Liverpool. Atalanta gets in behind - Joel Matip is a yard behind the rest of his teammates - and Robin Gosens smashes it powerfully at an angle on the left side of the box.

It's going in at the near post and Alisson has to be sharp.

Liverpool are winning it high up the pitch but Atalanta are a bit more organised so far. Curtis Jones, Neco Williams and Mohamed Salah all push forward but it's forced back to Joel Matip.

Liverpool win the ball back in the middle but Mohamed Salah gives it away sloppily with a weak pass across field to Rhys Williams.

Marten de Roon pounces on it but curls it wide of Alisson's right post.

In Curtis Jones, Rhys Williams and Neco Williams, Liverpool are the first side to name three British teenagers in their starting XI for a Champions League match since Arsenal named four against Olympiakos in December 2009 (Aaron Ramsey, Jack Wilshere, Tom Cruise and Kyle Bartley).
