  1. 'Players giving me sleepless nights over selection'published at 14:16 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2020

West Bromwich Albion 1-5 Crystal Palace

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson speaking to Sky Sports

On Wilfired Zaha: "I thought he was really, really good. I was apologising for not giving him the chance to get his hat-trick but I'm pleased he is disappointed with that. He scored two very good goals and he was assisted by amazing play by Eberechi Eze."

On Christian Benteke: "I think the most important thing is it's great for him. You have faith in your players, we see them in training and how hard they work. You feel sympathy for them if it's not working and it's really nice for him that he has got his chance and rewarded me with two very good goals.

"For the first time I've been at the club I find myself having sleepless nights over team selection. It's not easy. You never want to compare, but of course you don't have a really good reason to say why you're picking someone else. If we are going to have a good season we need all these players."

    Michael Brown
Former Sheff Utd midfielder on BBC Radio 5 Live

Having fans back in grounds makes a massive difference. Last season Sheffield United were delighted to be back in the Premier League and there were full houses and special nights. They are missing their fans and the pressure is on. They have been in all of the games but now it's all about results.

  4. Lawro's predictionpublished at 14:13 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2020

Sheff Utd v Leicester (14:15 GMT)

    Mark Lawrenson
    BBC football expert

Last season the Blades were outstanding, but they didn't score that many goals. Strikers David McGoldrick, Oli McBurnie, Lys Mousset and Rhian Brewster - although he's unproven - have all come up from the Championship and that is the problem.

It's that second-season syndrome. I think they were playing way above themselves last campaign. They're still difficult to beat but they're not making enough chances.

I think Leicester have some really super players but I don't see them finishing in the top six. You've seen in the home games that forward Jamie Vardy has been denied space to run into, whereas they've won four of their five away matches because teams are coming on to them.

I expect them to beat the Blades.

    Prediction: 1-2

  5. 'We have enormous talent'published at 14:12 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2020

West Bromwich Albion 1-5 Crystal Palace

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson to BBC Sport: "We looked dangerous throughout the game, and I am really pleased.

"In training we do a lot of work on attacking formations and how we try to cause problems. We knew at half-time we would have more of the ball and we had to work hard around the penalty area.

"Wilfried Zaha and Christian Benteke showed they are goalscorers at heart. Every team would miss their best player.

"Benteke's work rate pleased me. You can't judge him just on scoring goals or not, we expect a lot from our centre-forward. I've told him if he does that work he will satisfy me.

"Our front four have enormous talent, Premier League quality. If we can get them the ball often enough I'd expect them to score goals."

Sheffield United are only the third club to take one point or fewer from their opening 10 top-flight fixtures.

They are already six points from safety.

The only team to avoid relegation after having fewer than three points from 11 top-flight matches was Stoke City in 1951-52.

Leicester City are seeking a sixth successive victory against Sheffield United in all competitions.

The Foxes are in danger of losing three league matches in a row for the first time since February 2019. That run resulted in Claude Puel being sacked as manager.

Their tally of 18 points is two fewer than they had after 10 matches last season

  8. 'Important Fleck and Lundstram get in box'published at 14:06 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2020

Sheff Utd v Leicester (14:15 GMT)

    Sheffield United

Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder to Sky Sports on recalling John Lundstram: "John is a goalsoring midfield player. We've not scored enough goals all over the pitch.

"It's important Fleck and Lundstram get in the box. They did that successfully last season. We'll possibly lose the range of passing from Ollie Norwood.

"We're not getting steamrollered by anybody.

  9. 'Having to manage game-time'published at 14:05 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2020

Sheff Utd v Leicester (14:15 GMT)

    Leicester City

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers to Sky Sports: "Obviously we have a number of injures. We're having to manage the game-time of players.

"I've said to the players it'll be a really tight game. A lot of their defeats have been by a single goal. It's a big test for us. We have to be focused and aggressive."

  10. 'The only truth is on the pitch'published at 14:01 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2020

West Bromwich Albion 1-5 Crystal Palace

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace striker Christian Benteke: "We can be happy this afternoon, we really showed character and composure. We were patient and controlled the game.

"There is no point in me complaining if I am not in the team, the only truth is on the pitch. I have been working hard in the shadows and I took my chance.

"We were efficient, we didn't let them have any chance. It is a different game for us when Wilf is on the pitch.

"He showed again how important he is."

Leicester revert to a familiar-looking starting XI having made several changes for Thursday's Europa League defeat by Zorya Luhansk.

Striker Jamie Vardy, midfielder Youri Tielemans, defender Jonny Evans and keeper Kasper Schmeichel, who were rested for that match, all return.

Defender Caglar Soyuncu who went off injured in the game in Ukraine with a recurrence of his groin injury is not included and neither is full-back Ricardo Pereira, who also made his long-awaited comeback in that match. However, midfielder Wilfred Ndidi does make the bench.

Leicester XI: Schmeichel, Fofana, Evans, Fuchs, Albrighton, Tielemans, Mendy, Justin, Perez, Maddison, Vardy.

Subs: Morgan, Ward, Iheanacho, Barnes, Under, Ndidi, Praet.

Only 15 minutes until the second game of the day as Sheffield United - who are rock bottom with one point from 10 games - host title-chasing (?) Leicester. A win would take the Foxes into third place.

  13. 'I am shooting more this season'published at 13:58 Greenwich Mean Time 6 December 2020

West Bromwich Albion 1-5 Crystal Palace

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha: "Today was a massive win, I'm just happy to be back helping the team. We deserved the three points today.

"I am shooting more this season. I back myself to take opportunities and it is paying off.

"I am very happy for Christian Benteke, everyone has hard runs. He is a quality player so I am not surprised he scored.

"We weren't scared to play today. It was harder for them when they lost a player and we wanted to impose ourselves.

"We have tremendous ability in our team. We just need to keep picking up points."

Just as we thought 2020 couldn't get any more like 2020, Christian Benteke has scored a brace.

Was hoping that 5th goal was going to be a Zaha hattrick but fair play to Benteke, 3rd top PL scorer for Palace now, plenty time for Zaha though

Christian Benteke's poverty in front of goal is really quite startling.

He scored a more than respectable 15 goals in the top flight in 2016-17 and since then managed three, one, and two goals.

Today's brace are his first of this season.
