Another Bristol City break sees Nahki Wells roll the ball to Callum O'Dowda on the edge of the box and he digs it out of his feet before wrapping his left foot round it.

It zings towards goal, and Declan Rudd is at full-stretch to tip away. Corner comes to nothing.

Paul Gallagher lofts over the top looking to release Sean Maguire again, but Preston's playmaker put a bit too much on it.

It's a simple gather for the Bristol City back line.

Antoine Semenyo drifts in and a shot pings off Alan Browne and behind for a corner.

City are looking to his pace and skill to open up Preston.

Callum O'Dowda puts the corner right under the crossbar of Declan Rudd and he panickedly punches away, but gets a free-kick. Bit soft that call. The ball in was as wicked as witches.

Antoine Semenyo cut down in full-flight by Darnell Fisher, having rolled his man, and the Preston defender gets a yellow card. Semenyo has given Bristol City some drive.

It all came after Paul Gallagher almost got the hosts in a the other end with a brilliant through-ball. Cut out, but fine vision.

Ah, Bristol City. Tyreeq Bakinson plays a blind pass back toward his own goal and Preston are onto it in a flash.

However, Sean Maguire deemed to be offside, but it looked tight!

So much to purr about though from a Preston perspective.

Paul Gallagher the string puller, Sean Maguire running about, Scott Sinclair buzzing menacingly and Tom Barkhuizen injecting himself into key moments.

And while they haven't been unduly concerned by Bristol City, Paul Huntington and Ben Davies have put their head on everything swung into their box from wide areas.

There's no denying there's a fair old injury list affecting Dean Holden's options at Bristol City, eight first-teamers just not available.

But there's ample quality out there. And, no shots on target.

They've had plenty of defending to do, that has to change.

Dean Holden heads to the tunnel as the whistle blows on the first-half with a face of discontent.

His Bristol City side have largely been kept at arms length, and find themselves a goal down thanks to Daniel Johnson's penalty.

Alex Neil will be far more content, his side have lost more home games than anyone in the Championship. But Preston have been superb in the opening 45.

Movement, pace, patience. Very impressive.

Tom Barkhuizen opens up the taps down the right and then curls a perfect cross to Scott Sinclair.

He tries to put it across the keeper for a second but it's well-saved by Daniel Bentley.

Preston continue to dictate.

Jack Hunt concedes a corner, Bristol City defending their goal again, Alex Neil's side made light work of the past 20 minutes. Like a game of 'attack v defence'.

Somehow they have to make the ball 'stick' up top, Nahki Wells has been low-key and Chris Martin, similarly.
