    Norwich 1-0 Cardiff

Down the other end, Cardiff win a free-kick on the edge of the Norwich area.

Harry Wilson shapes as though he's going to cross it and then tries to beat Michael McGovern at his near post.

He doesn't get the contact though and it's wide.

    Norwich 1-0 Cardiff

Todd Cantwell wins a free-kick for the hosts about 30 yards from goal.

Despite the distance Jacob Sorensen decides to try his arm.

It's well hit but straight at Alex Smithies in the Cardiff goal.

    Norwich 1-0 Cardiff

Fans of goalkeepers in baseball caps will be pleased to know that Norwich keeper Michael McGovern is sporting some headwear with the sun in an unhelpful position at that end of the pitch.

It means he has a better view of Norwich's attacks right now.

    Norwich 1-0 Cardiff

Cardiff have just got to weather this.

Norwich have got the wind behind their sails now and another goal before half-time would probably end this as a contest.

    Emi Buendia

You can't give a player like Emi Buendia space like that!

    It's too simple for Norwich.

Buendia picks up the ball between the lines 25 yards or so from goal, drifts in towards the centre of goal and hits a low shot beyond Alex Smithies.

The hosts probably deserve it on the balance of play but Bluebirds boss Neil Harris will not be pleased at how easy that was to score.

  6. Postpublished at 25 mins

    Norwich 0-0 Cardiff

Emi Buendia gives away a cheap free-kick 30 yards from his own goal for a foul on Cardiff winger Sheyi Ojo.

Liverpool loanee Harry Wilson swings it in and Bluebirds skipper Sean Morrison is first to it.

His header isn't quite as true as it might have been and it's straight at Michael McGovern.

That's a warning for the hosts though.

    Norwich 0-0 Cardiff

    That combination again!

Norwich winger Todd Cantwell comes in off the right and plays a great reverse ball in for the run of Teemu Pukki but the Finn skews his shot wide.

    You'd have backed him there.

  8. Postpublished at 21 mins

    Norwich 0-0 Cardiff

    All Norwich now.

More lovely interchange on the halfway line and they're away, with Todd Cantwell looking to poke through a ball for Teemu Pukki that Cardiff scramble away.

The corner comes to nothing but Norwich are in the ascendancy here.

  9. Postpublished at 19 mins

    Norwich 0-0 Cardiff

    Close to the opener!

Patient build-up play from Norwich ends with Emi Buendia hitting a beauty of a cross for Kenny McLean to run on to and head just wide.

The Scot did well to get forward and might think he should have hit the target.

  10. Postpublished at 16 mins

    Norwich 0-0 Cardiff

Todd Cantwell back in the Norwich XI today looks to have a bit of a free role.

He's a real talent, as he showed helping the Canaries to promotion two seasons ago and in the opening games in the Premier League last season, but has lost his way a little of late.

Daniel Farke will be hoping for a big game from him today and the early stages look quite promising.

  11. Postpublished at 13 mins

    Norwich 0-0 Cardiff

Todd Cantwell wins a corner as his shot on the edge of the area is charged down by the Cardiff defence, it comes to nothing though as Emi Buendia blasts it way over the waiting masses in the middle.

    A real waste.

  12. Postpublished at 11 mins

    Norwich 0-0 Cardiff

Two thousand fans in at Carrow Road today and they're making plenty of noise in these opening 10 minutes.

They've not had too much to get them going to be fair with Cardiff matching the table-toppers.

  13. Postpublished at 8 mins

    Norwich 0-0 Cardiff

Cardiff score a lot of goals from set pieces, 46% of their goals so far this season in fact, but they're happy to pass the ball around as well and their first real attack brings about their first corner.

Marlon Pack swings it in and it's nodded away from danger before Will Vaulks hurls in an arrow of a long throw from the other side.

That's cleared too but you can see why the Bluebirds have such joy from set pieces. Two very good deliveries.

  14. Postpublished at 5 mins

    Norwich 0-0 Cardiff

Norwich striker Teemu Pukki races in down the side of the Cardiff defence and wins the game's first corner.

Cardiff half-clear the first ball and then Max Aarons' second delivery is overhit.

  15. Postpublished at 2 mins

    Norwich 0-0 Cardiff

Niche delay to kick off by the way as Cardiff goalkeeper Alex Smithies was told to remove his towel and drinks bottle from inside the goal.

    Rules are rules* I guess.

Couple of minutes in and we've had no goalmouth action so far.

*I know football has laws not rules.

  16. KICK-OFFpublished at 1 min

Norwich get us under way at Carrow Road.

Two teams bang in form, top place at Christmas the potential prize for the hosts and a sixth win in seven in the offing for the Bluebirds.
