    League One update

Danny Andrew has put Joey Barton's side in front on the Lancashire coast.

You chill just typing those last two words.

    Luton 0-0 Bournemouth

Luton making all the running at Kenilworth Road, against a Bournemouth side among the front runners.

Pelly Ruddock-Mpanzu has been excellent so far, a bundle of energy, while the double-barrelled double trouble of Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Rhys Harrington-Davies have also been heavily involved.

    No goals though.

  3. goal

GOAL: Huddersfield 2-0 Watfordpublished at 15:34 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2020

    Etienne Capoue OG (32 mins)

    Another Watford defensive horror show!

After Ben Foster's mishap earlier, this time it's Etienne Capoue who's all at sea.

A Huddersfield corner from the left leaves the Hornets defender in a bit of a pickle and, instead of clearing, he ends up bundling the ball into his own net.

    It's a proper mess. Again.

  4. goal

GOAL: Birmingham 1-2 Middlesbroughpublished at 15:33 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2020

    George Saville (31 mins)

    Turnaround complete!

Marvin Johnson's low cross picks out George Saville at the near post and the former Wolves midfielder applies the first-time finish.

    League Two update

Southend, bottom of the football league, have been showing signs of life in the past week with two successive wins.

They are ahead again, today at Mansfield who have no win in three.

Peter Clarke has put Tranmere ahead at Bolton.

And Cole Stockton has put through his own net to bring Colchester level with Morecambe by the side of the A12.

  6. goal

GOAL: Wycombe 0-1 QPRpublished at 15:32 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2020

Jason McCarthy own goal (29 mins)

    Poor Jason McCarthy.

It's a second own goal this month for the Wycombe defender as he puts Ilias Chair's low cross past his own goalkeeper at the near post.

  7. goal

GOAL: Brentford 3-0 Readingpublished at 15:30 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2020

    Bryan Mbeumo (28 mins)

Game over perhaps?! Reading have been shredded by a rampant Brentford, and it's that man again - Bryan Mbeumo.

The Frenchman made a run to the edge of the box, where the driving Ivan Toney rolled a pass to him.

One swivelled turn to escape his marker and a shot later, and it's in the back of the net. Cabral has picked more balls out of the onion bag than he has saves, probably.

How the Bees are buzzing. Sweet honey.

  8. goal

GOAL: Birmingham 1-1 Middlesbroughpublished at 15:29 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2020

    Britt Assombalonga (27 mins)

Birmingham have had the better of the play, the possession and the shots but it's Middlesbrough who've got the game's second goal.

Britt Assombalonga fires a low strike into the bottom corner to pull Boro level.

Swindon, reeling from four defeats on the spin, have given Charlton's hopes of making ground on the play-off places a bump by scoring the day's opening goal at The County Ground through Diallang Jaiyesimi.

    Sheff Wed 0-0 Coventry

Big block from Ben Sheaf to deny Josh Windass. Telling, timely intervention from the Sky Blues man.

Wednesday haven't looked confident really. But Adam Reach has had a dig and Windass too.

Coventry still had the best efforts though, as Maxime Biamou was unable to find the back of the net.

    Stoke 1-0 Blackburn

    Close for the visitors!

Full-back Barry Douglas drills a low shot against the post.

  12. goal

GOAL: Brentford 2-0 Readingpublished at 15:24 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2020

    Bryan Mbeumo (23 mins)

The only remaining member of the BMW trio from last season's buzzy Bees is finding solo life pretty swell right now...

Bryan Mbeumo doubles the Brentford lead, he was allowed to cut in off the right, looked up and curled brilliantly beyond Cabral.

Reading stunned. Mbeumo's finish was measured perfection. Sublime.

    League Two update

Newport's lead lasted only six minutes as Davis Keillor-Dunn equalises for Oldham.

James Wilson has given Salford the lead at Harrogate in what was a non-league fixture quite recently.

A Josh Coulson own goal has put Crawley ahead at Leyton Orient.

And Mattie Pollock (guffaw!) has given Grimsby the lead at home to Scunthorpe.

Another chance for QPR as Geoff Cameron chances his arm from range and Ryan Allsop makes another decent save.

  15. Postpublished at 15:22 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2020

    Brentford 1-0 Reading

Bit of jostling in the Brentford box as Reading prepare a free-kick on the far side.

It was a brilliantly curled in ball, but as Thomas Holmes attacked it, Sergi Canos stubbed behind.

Liam Moore then met the corner for Reading, good connection but claimed by David Raya.

    Luton 0-0 Bournemouth

Luton have started positively against Bournemouth without really hurting the highfliers.

James Collins has nine for the season and nabbed a hat-trick at home last time out, but Bournemouth have got bodies in there to deny him when required.

  17. Postpublished at 15:19 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2020

QPR's first real chance of the day sees Ryan Allsop make a good save to deny Rob Dickie's header.

    Sheff Wed 0-0 Coventry

Barry Bannan slams a shot over the bar for Sheffield Wednesday, as the struggling bottom side look to mount a response to early pressure.

At the other end, Leo Ostigaard goes airborne to meet a ball with an overhead kick but Keiren Westwood makes the save.

  19. goal

GOAL: Birmingham 1-0 Middlesbroughpublished at 15:17 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2020

    Maxime Colin (15 mins)

    Deadlock broken at St Andrew's!

The build-up is pretty scrappy, with a low cross into the box prompting a couple of blocked shots, but when the ball drops to Maxime Colin the scrappiness very much ends.

The French defender lashes his effort into the top corner and Blues lead.

  20. Postpublished at 15:16 Greenwich Mean Time 19 December 2020

    Millwall 0-0 Nott'm Forest

Both Millwall and Forest ended winlesss runs in midweek, but Millwall the closest to continuing their mini-streak.

Ex-Derby man Mason Bennett putting a golden chance right into the hands of Brice Samba. Let-off for Forest.
