    Watford 0-0 Norwich

Watford midfielder Etienne Capoue gives away the ball in his own half and comes very close to bringing down Kieran Dowell and potentially getting a second yellow card.

The former Spurs man is combative by nature but may need to be reigned in a bit.

    Watford 0-0 Norwich

New Watford boss Xisco Munoz is doing plenty of shouting and pointing on the touchline as he tries to get his ideas across to his players.

The hosts aren't even trying to win the midfield battle but they have at times got some joy from link-up play between Troy Deeney and Andre Gray.

It's just about getting the ball up to them regularly enough.

  3. Postpublished at 30 mins

    Watford 0-0 Norwich

    Emi Buendia has great feet.

He ghosts past a couple Watford players but his attempted through ball is beyond the reach of Norwich striker Teemu Pukki and goes behind for a goal kick.

    Watford 0-0 Norwich

Norwich right-back Max Aarons looks a constant menace down the right but the visitors aren't quite getting that final pass right.

After a couple lively moments Watford are now having to do quite a bit of chasing.

Watford are working really hard off the ball and not allowing Norwich to be at their free-flowing best.

New Hornets head coach Xisco Munoz will be relatively happy with what he's seen here so far, against the league leaders.

  6. Postpublished at 22 mins

    Watford 0-0 Norwich

Norwich playmaker Emi Buendia plays a lovely outside of the foot through ball for the advanced Max Aarons, who ends up running into Watford defender Jeremy Ngakia.

It's a wet and windy evening in Hertfordshire.

  7. YELLOW CARDpublished at 19 mins

    Watford 0-0 Norwich

Troy Deeney plays a first-time volleyed pass forward for Watford striker partner Andre Gray to run onto, but the flag goes up.

Moments later Norwich's Emi Buendia goes on a dribble and is trodden on by Etienne Capoue - the Hornets midfielder goes into the book.

  8. CLOSE!published at 14 mins

    Watford 0-0 Norwich

If there were fans at Vicarage Road half of them would've thought that was in!

Etienne Capoue plays a lovely pass for Ismaila Sarr down the right and the Senegal forward's cutback eventually loops up for Andre Gray, who volleys high into the side netting.

    Very, very close for Watford.

Before we see it taken, Ismaila Sarr is receiving treatment.

The Watford forward certainly took a whack but to be fair to Kenny McLean, he couldn't really get out of the way!

    Watford 0-0 Norwich

Ismaila Sarr has pace and trickery in abundance and the winger is brought to a sudden halt by Norwich midfielder Kenny McLean and wins a free-kick for the hosts.

It's around 25 yards out and in a shooting position...

  12. Postpublished at 8 mins

    Watford 0-0 Norwich

As expected Norwich are having the lion's share of possession, while the hosts are happy to use the physical attributes of their strikers to get up the pitch when they can.

Watford won both meetings between the sides in the Premier League last season - Andre Gray has just got in down the channel but his cutback is behind Troy Deeney and Tom Cleverley can't make anything of it.

  13. Postpublished at 4 mins

    Watford 0-0 Norwich

Norwich full-back Max Aarons - linked with Barcelona over the summer - cuts inside off the right flank but his left-footed shot from 20 yards is comfortably gathered by Watford keeper Ben Foster.

    A little sighter.

  14. Postpublished at 3 mina

    Watford 0-0 Norwich

Watford are clearly playing a 4-4-2 formation, with skipper Troy Deeney up top alongside Andre Gray.

It was always Deeney or Gray under former Hornets boss Vladimir Ivic, but Xisco Munoz is promising to be very attack-minded.

All quiet in the opening couple minutes...

High-flying Norwich have won five Championship games in a row and sit four points clear at the top as they search for an instant return to the Premier League.

Four of those victories have been by the odd goal - the Canaries haven't been as swashbuckling as they were during their 2018-19 title-winning season but Daniel Farke's side just know how to win in this division.

Emi Buendia has been the catalyst, scoring five goals and assisting four more in his last nine league matches.

Xisco Munoz makes three changes for his first game in charge of Watford, with captain Troy Deeney coming in to partner Andre Gray in attack.

For Norwich Kieran Dowell starts in place of Mario Vrancic - otherwise it's the same side that started their victory over Cardiff last time out.

Watford: Foster, Ngakia, Sierralta, Wilmot, Femenia, Sarr, Capoue, Cleverley, Sema, Deeney, Gray.

Norwich: McGovern, Aarons, Hanley, Zimmermann, Sorensen, McLean, Skipp, Buendia, Dowell, Cantwell, Pukki.

Former Valencia, Levante and Real Betis winger Xisco Munoz became Watford's fifth manager in just over a year when he was appointed on Sunday to replace the sacked Vladimir Ivic.

Spaniard Munoz, 40, joined from Georgian top-flight side Dinamo Tbilisi on an undisclosed-length contract.

He's already said he wants to "fight like an animal to win" while at Vicarage Road, which suggests he'll be an animated figure on the touchline.
