We're going to call it a night there after another great day of FA Cup action.

I'll leave you with the story of the day as League Two Crawley Town put three past Leeds United to reach round four.

Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton manager Graham Potter, speaking to BBC Sport: "It was quite traumatic to watch. Seeing the keeper make the saves and still be in the shootout was quite frustrating. But that can happen in the FA Cup and this is a difficult, unique place to come. Anything can happen and it probably did.

"Jason Steele is honest and supportive of the team. I'm delighted for him in how he's contributed to us going through.

"I didn't expect anything else [but a hard game] on a really difficult playing surface. It makes it hard to find real quality. The way Newport played they were always in the game.

"It's the start of a big week for us. We want to get three results and we've got the first one. It's a huge challenge and that's what we have to get ready for."

There have been some crackers.

Newport manager Michael Flynn, speaking to BBC Sport: "I'm very proud - the effort they put in was first class. It's a sad way to go out but we should be very proud.

"[After the injury-time equaliser] you start thinking it might be your night. You never get let down on TV when Newport County play against the big boys!

"In the shootout it was like no-one wanted to win it! You have to give their keeper huge credit - the first penalty, he pulled it out of the top corner near enough.

"We've got to get back to winning ways now in the league."

Brighton & Hove Albion

Brighton keeper Jason Steele, who saved four penalties: "I'm happy that we're through to the next round. I'm really thankful for that because I nearly cost us in the last minute.

"A lot of credit has to go to my goalkeepeing coach who had done a lot of research.

"I did feel a little bit of pressure. I'm a responsible 30-year-old adult and I know when I've played well. I feel like I played well but made one mistake that cost us a goal. In the end I dug myself out of it!

"We showed the ultimate respect in our team selection. We knew what was coming. We've done our job and we now prepare for a tough week ahead.

"I thought we performed well and hopefully it can [provide a springboard]."

• Brighton have won nine of their last 10 penalty shootouts in all competitions, including each of their last four in the FA Cup.
• Newport have lost each of their last three penalty shootouts in all competitions, with this the second time this season that they’ve been eliminated via this method by a Premier League side (also in the Leage Cup vs Newcastle).

• Brighton have progressed from 10 of their last 12 third round FA Cup ties since being eliminated from six in a row from 2002 to 2008.
• Brighton’s Solly March has scored three goals in the FA Cup and they have all come away from home, also netting away to Millwall in March 2019 and Port Vale in January 2014.
• Brighton defender Adam Webster became the first player to score an own goal in the 90th minute or later of an FA Cup game (excluding extra-time) since Grimsby's Aswad Thomas in a 3-2 defeat to Huddersfield in January 2014.

Brighton will be ball number 31 in tomorrow's fourth-round draw.

Football can be a cruel game.

Jason Steele had a howler for the Newport goal but he has made four great saves in the penalty shootout there!
