  1. Blades bite backpublished at 12 mins

    Sheff Utd 0-1 Tottenham

Spurs are being a little bit more cavalier early on here - that's paid off, but is also leaving space behind.

Joe Rodon goes on a 'Beckenbauer' and loses the ball in midfield - it eventually arrives at the feet of Oliver Burke, whose strike is deflected for a corner.

From the resulting corner, Chris Basham's header to the far post is cleared.

  2. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 8 mins

    Sheff Utd 0-1 Tottenham

Wilder's side need to sort themselves out with haste.

The Harry Kane-Son Heung-min partnership almost reaps more rewards when the England striker feeds the South Korean only for him to clip his shot against the post.

    So close to number two.

  3. 'Clean, clear header'published at 14:07 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2021

    Sheff Utd 0-1 Tottenham

    Pat Nevin
Former Chelsea and Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

Really good delivery into the near post - you can't let him get that much time there's nobody near him. Really good leap from Serge Aurier, there's no chance of Aaron Ramsdale getting near that - clean, clear header from about three yards out. Very good ball but that's poor defending, Chris Wilder will be furious.

    Serge Aurier

Yes, Serge Aurier isn't known for his aerial prowess but the Blades really should have been watching him in the area as the corner was being delivered.

    Truly awful defending.

Assist: Son Heung-min, if you must.

  5. Postpublished at 4 mins

    Sheff Utd 0-0 Tottenham

Both sides a pressuring when the other has possession - it's been quite the hectic start.

Spurs look the bigger threat so far and produce their first effort on goal with Steven Bergwijn forcing a tip-over save from Aaron Ramsdale...

    And then..

  6. Postpublished at 2 mins

    Sheff Utd 0-0 Tottenham

Keeper Aaron Ramsdale is lucky to get away with his awful shank from Ethan Ampadu's back pass.

Not what you want in the opening seconds of the match.

It's a beautifully light grey day in south Yorkshire.

The teams are waiting in the tunnel, with some players no doubt contemplating whether they'll make it back to watch the game at Anfield later.

  11. 'The table is totally fake'published at 13:53 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2021

Sheff Utd v Tottenham (14:00 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho, speaking to Sky Sports: "The reasons behind the changes is it is a match against Sheffield United. We know how they play and we know how we can probably hurt them. This is a team that if you give them the initiative and they play in your half they cause you a lot of problems. We have to dominant to win the game.

"I am showing them respect in the way the table is totally fake. That is the respect I show them. They are the same team as they were last season and I believe in that. We want to win the game and we want to be dominant.

"We do what I ask the players to do. It is true we have lots of chances to score goals in the first half. In the second half we have the dominance. I agree totally with the pragmatism of the numbers but it is not what. What do I tell them at half time? Play attacking football, kill off matches, don't accept dominancy."

Delighted to see Rodon play. Far more solid than Sanchez. Embarrassed we are playing 3 CBs though. Even more defensive than usual. Bore draw.

Re Jose, they say if you keep doing the same thing you get the same results. Jose's team selection and substitutions have become predictable and so have performances. Need to try something different : Dele, Fernandez etc?

We will try to get best out of Gareth Bale - Mourinho

Gareth Bale has played only 45 minutes of Premier League footy since 8 November - injury and illness blighting the poor fella.

Here's Mourinho on the loan signing from Real Madrid:

"He's really a nice and happy guy in the group. If he's happy when he sits on the bench I don't think so. I honestly don't think so.

"If he has (an) appetite to play football, I do think so because when a player does want to play in Marine [in the FA Cup last week] after only one training session, after three weeks of injury wants to go and play in Marine, I believe that can only show a person loves to play football."

Blades boss Chris Wilder speaking to Sky Sports: "No downside to winning games in football. One in the FA Cup - not a spectacular result and a big result [against Newcastle] to get that first league win.

"Hopefully take a lot of hear from what we played on Tuesday night. We looked back to ourselves.
