So Mourinho's side have dropped 10 points from winning positions this campaign - not great in a season when the 'big two' haven't been at their best.

Here's what the Portuguese chief said:

"We need to score the goals we can and not make mistakes that punish us.

"Going to the basics, you score goals, kill matches, you don't score goals, you stay in the limit.

"If you don't make a defensive mistake you end by winning, if you make a defensive mistake you can be punished."

Bernard Clamface: I would love to read Dele or Mourinho's autobiography to find out what is actually going on. No place for Dele even on the bench? Gedson ahead of him? Makes no sense

Oliver Camp: My goodness. Five at the back, plus Hojbjerg sitting, against Sheffield United. Life as a Spurs fan is so desperately frustrating at the moment. (Bergwijn sadly also not up to it...)

Sheff Utd v Tottenham (14:00 GMT)

There could be more frustration for Tottenham here. They are not on a great run, while the Blades will be bouncing a little bit.

Spurs have dropped quite a few points from winning positions, including Wednesday's draw with Fulham. It's not a massive surprise that they are not getting the goals to finish teams off though.

They have got two world-class forwards in Harry Kane and Son Heung-min, but not a lot else. They can't rely on those two every single week.

    Prediction: 1-1

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho makes three changes to the side that drew 1-1 with Fulham in their previous outing.

Defender Joe Rodon makes only his second Premier League start for Spurs, while Steven Bergwijn and Ben Davies also come in.

Tottenham Hotspur XI: Lloris, Rodon, Dier, Davies, Aurier, Hojbjerg, Ndombele, Reguilon, Bergwijn, Kane, Son.

  13. Two in two for the Blades?published at 12:48 Greenwich Mean Time 17 January 2021

Sheff Utd v Tottenham (14:00 GMT)

With Aston Villa's match against Everton postponed because of the positive tests at Villa, this contest in South Yorkshire kicks off Sunday's Premier League bonanza.

After looking like world beaters for a while, Jose Mourinho's Tottenham have won just once in six Premier League games, drawing three and losing two. Fortunately for Spurs, the top of the table is as compact as a family of five in a Cinquecento.

The Blades, on the other hand, recorded their first league win over the season the other day when they 'overcame' a toothless Newcastle.

This should be a Tottenham win, but it's been a funny ol' season.

... and no, we're not talking about Santa Clara v FC Famalicao in the Portuguese Primeira Liga - we are, of course, referring to Liverpool v Manchester United (16:30 GMT).

The oft-vilified Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, who has flitted from #oleout to #olein, has lifted this United outfit to the summit following nine wins and two draws in the past 11 matches.

They have 11 more points than they did at this stage last season, while Liverpool have 16 fewer points than they did at this stage last season.

Injuries to the backline have hit Jurgen Klopp's side hard this season and today they face the prospect of losing consecutive league fixtures for the first time since 2015 and falling at home to a United side for the first time since 2016.

    Unthinkable?

Before that we have two more fixtures that will affect the title race.

Tottenham, in sixth, are at Sheffield 'broken the duck' United (14:00 GMT) and Manchester City, with a game in hand over the rest, host Crystal Palace (19:15 GMT).
