Newcastle United

Newcastle's Jamaal Lascelles: "It's a real disappointment in terms of the result. I thought we were the better team and I don't think anyone could question our work ethic.

"We had a lot of chances and it's positive to see. We haven't been playing well recently but it was a much better performance.

"We're obviously going through a difficult spell at the minute. In terms of the last seven or eight games, performances have not been not good. I can honestly say today was a step in the right direction."

West Brom are winless in the past 18 Premier League meetings, drawing two and losing 16.

The Baggies have led for only 26 minutes and three seconds in total during those matches.

City's current six-game Premier League winning run at West Brom is their longest in the top flight against a single opponent.

Leeds United

Leeds United's goalkeeper Illan Meslier: "Newcastle started better than us in the second half and scored, so we had more pressure but we changed the tactics and we were right to score the second to win the game.

"It was difficult as I couldn't punch because there were too many people in the box. It's important for the team and we keep the three points.

"It's been a good job, 26 points in the first year back in the Premier League. We are in good position but the job is not done, we need to win. We have 19 games left and we need to take the maximum points to win and climb the table."

Leeds United

Leeds United's Jack Harrison, speaking to BT Sport: "We knew it was going to be a challenge. We'd been preparing all week for this and we had to come out strong which we did.

"The manager talks about having personality and character and we went into this game with a lot of fire. Newcastle can give you problems up front but we did well to come away all three points. We'll keep our heads down and keep working hard game by game."
