New Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel to BT Sport: "You cannot imagine the last 48 hours, 72 hours, it's all a bit surreal. But we are here now and it is amazing. It was crazy.

"We will see if I got any message across in training! I was happy to be on the pitch with them as they feel comfortable, we took the possibility to train. There is nothing to be afraid of and we encouraged the guys to do their best today.

"I hope we will attack and play brave football, we play to score and create chances. It's an intense game, we need a winning mentality and to be compact and solid. that's what we want to create.

"We have a good mix of young and experienced players. Today I cannot choose a team after one day in training, it's not fair so this may be the most unfair line-up we ever do.

"We chose a bit more experience today because we step in in the middle of the season, it's not easy."

Leicester are going well and are a good side even without the injured Jamie Vardy leading their line.

But I am not sure whether they will be able to cope with the physicality of Everton. That could make all the difference here.

  3. Over at Goodison...published at 17:35 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January 2021

    Everton v Leicester (20:15 GMT)

Everton can win three consecutive league fixtures against Leicester for the first time since a run of four between 1977 and 1980.

Leicester have only won two of their 14 Premier League matches at Goodison Park: 3-2 in December 2015 and 1-0 on New Year's Day 2019.

None of the past 11 Premier League meetings have ended in a draw.

  4. Early team news - Rashford passed fitpublished at 17:32 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January 2021

Manchester United v Sheffield United (20:15 GMT)

    Manchester United

Marcus Rashford, who hurt his knee during the FA Cup win over Liverpool, is fit to face Sheffield United.

David De Gea, Eric Bailly and Bruno Fernandes are all likely to be recalled after getting a rest at the weekend.

Sheffield United could be without as many as nine senior players, including the suspended John Egan.

Forward Lys Mousset has a chance of being passed fit for the trip to Manchester after a month out with a shoulder injury.

Manchester United v Sheffield United (20:15 GMT)

    Mark Lawrenson

As they showed against Liverpool in the FA Cup on Sunday, Manchester United have hit their stride, especially in attack, and their momentum is going to be hard to stop - they have got plenty of strength in depth if they do pick up any injuries.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side have not lost in the league since Arsenal won at Old Trafford on 1 November, and nothing I have seen from Sheffield United suggests they are capable of ending that run.

The Blades are back in Manchester on Saturday when they face Manchester City at Etihad Stadium, so this is not exactly an easy spell for them. At least it is only a short journey home.

Has Tuchel seen Jorginho play? And why drop a player who's just got a hat-trick? Time will tell, but looks a strange first line-up.

  8. Two out-of-form teams go head to headpublished at 17:25 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January 2021

    Brighton v Fulham (19:30 GMT)

Brighton are on a club record league run of 13 successive home matches without a win.

They claimed a first win in 10 Premier League games at the expense of Leeds United last time out.

Fulham are winless in eight league games - drawing five, losing three and scoring just four goals.

They start the day 17th and 18th respectively - with five points the gap.

    Brighton v Fulham (19:30 GMT)

    Mark Lawrenson
    BBC football expert

This is a big game at the bottom of the table because a Brighton win would open up a bit of distance between them and Fulham in the bottom three.

I am going to back Brighton to take the points too. Fulham have been playing well without winning in recent weeks, while Brighton did not just beat Leeds in their previous league game - they more than matched them in every department and got the job done.

    Prediction: 2-0

  10. Early team newspublished at 17:19 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January 2021

    Brighton v Fulham (19:30 GMT)

Brighton pair Adam Lallana and Aaron Connolly are both back in training and could be among the substitutes tonight.

Danny Welbeck and Tariq Lamptey remain absent with respective knee and hamstring injuries.

Bobby Decordova-Reid is available for Fulham after missing their most recent league game because of suspension.

Antonee Robinson serves the final game of a ban, while Tom Cairney and Terence Kongolo are still sidelined.

  11. Can Blues bounce back?published at 17:16 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January 2021

    Chelsea v Wolves (18:00 GMT)

So where does Thomas Tuchel start with this Chelsea team?

The Blues have won just two of their past eight league matches, drawing once and losing five times, and could lose their opening two home top-flight matches of a calendar year for just the third time.

The 29 points they have accumulated this season is their second lowest tally at the halfway stage of a Premier League season during the Roman Abramovich era.

They lost seven home league games in 28 games under Lampard, as many as in 57 matches combined by previous bosses Maurizio Sarri and Antonio Conte.

And no doubt Tuchel will be expected to get the best out of Timo Werner, who has gone 11 Premier League appearances without a goal.

  12. The head-to-head...published at 17:14 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January 2021

    Chelsea v Wolves (18:00 GMT)

Chelsea are unbeaten at home in six previous Premier League matches with Wolves, winning five and drawing once.

Wolves won the reverse fixture 2-1 at Molineux last month, with Pedro Neto scoring in stoppage time, and are looking to complete a first top-flight league double over Chelsea since 1974-75.

  13. Lawro says...published at 17:11 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January 2021

    Chelsea v Wolves (18:00 GMT)

    Mark Lawrenson
    BBC football expert

What went wrong for Frank Lampard at Chelsea? They were often too open at the back and his expensive forwards did not quite hit it off, which is unfortunate because they are all very good players.

Lampard's departure should bring a reaction from the team in this game, though. It looks like Thomas Tuchel will replace him and he will be watching, even if he is not officially in charge by then. Everyone is playing for their place now.

Wolves need more firepower up front and, although Chelsea do not have the injured N'Golo Kante to protect their defence, I am still going with a Blues win.

    Prediction: 2-1

  20. 'Control freak, power player & visionary'published at 16:56 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January 2021

    Chelsea v Wolves (18:00 GMT)

    TuchelImage source, BBC Sport

Thomas Tuchel is one of the most complex personalities in European football management. The 47-year-old is known as a political power player and control freak, but also as a tactical visionary and methodical thinker. He was dismissed by Paris St-Germain in late December after months full of fights between him and sporting director Leonardo.

While some in France claim Tuchel never brought the best out of a star-studded squad, PSG still reached the Champions League final in August and won back-to-back domestic titles. His track record was certainly good enough for Chelsea's board, who approached him shortly before Lampard's dismissal.

At first, Tuchel was unsure whether he should take the job midway through the season, but he has envisaged a move to the Premier League for quite some time, first engaging in talks with Chelsea in 2017 after he departed from Borussia Dortmund.

Tuchel views the job at Stamford Bridge as a chance to prove himself in England, just like Jurgen Klopp and Pep Guardiola - two men he admires - have done before him.
