    Iker Muniain (Athletic Bilbao)

Is there going to be a late twist?

Lionel Messi gives it away for Barcelona, Alex Berenguer passes it to Iker Muniain and it's a fine finish from 20 yards out. Hope for the hosts.

    Athletic Bilbao 1-3 Barcelona

Barcelona are enjoying themselves. Lionel Messi slides a pass to Jordi Alba, whose low cross finds Antoine Griezmann and the Frenchman, off balance, can only shoot at Unai Simon. Lovely move, though.

  8. Juve end Milan's unbeaten league runpublished at 21:40 Greenwich Mean Time 6 January 2021

    Milan 1-3 Juventus

That's it. The champions have defeated the potential champions and ended their unbeaten run in the league.

Federico Chiesa was the hero for Andrea Pirlo's side with two great goals, while Wojciech Szczesny made a number of crucial saves.

Cristiano Ronaldo had a relatively quiet night, but his fellow attackers more than made up for that.

Juve are now seven points behind the leaders.

  9. Leaders Lyon aheadpublished at 21:36 Greenwich Mean Time 6 January 2021

    French Ligue 1

In France, it's a good evening so far for leaders Lyon as ex-Manchester United midfielder Memphis Depay has scored twice as his side are 3-1 up versus Lens after 77 minutes.

Paris St-Germain are still drawing 1-1 at Saint-Etienne, although that will take Mauricio Pochettino's side up to second and above Lille, who are trailing 2-1 at home to Angers.

  10. HITS THE WOODWORK - Messipublished at 72 mins

    Athletic Bilbao 1-3 Barcelona

Almost yet another Lionel Messi hat-trick. It's played into his feet and he's so quick to get his shot away, curling it and hitting the left-hand post.

That's twice he's hit that post, he's also had a goal rightly ruled out for offside and scored twice as well as starting the move for Barca's opening goal.

    Another Messi masterclass.

  11. goal

GOAL - Milan 1-3 Juventuspublished at 21:23 Greenwich Mean Time 6 January 2021

    Weston McKennie (76 mins)

That looks like game over in the San Siro.

Sub Dejan Kulusevski makes a superb run on the right of the area before poking the ball into the path of Weston McKennie, who hammers home from close range.

It looks like Milan are heading for their first defeat in the league this season, and only their second in all competitions.

  12. goal

GOAL - Athletic Bilbao 1-3 Barcelonapublished at 62 mins

    Lionel Messi (Barcelona)

Barcelona are in control of this one.

Lionel Messi scored in the first half and had one ruled out in the second and then hit the post, but now he has a second goal and a third for Barcelona.

Antoine Griezmann gets the assist as he rolls a square pass to the onrushing Messi, who hits it first time and it flies into the net off the underside of the crossbar.

    AC Milan 1-2 Juventus

ReindeerHotdog: Watching Calabria's goal again and that outside of the boot pass by Hauge was sensational. He's the very definition of a hot prospect. To do that against Juventus when you're 1-0 down takes some composure. Wouldn't be surprised if he pops up with the equaliser.

  14. HITS THE WOODWORK - Messipublished at 61 mins

    Athletic Bilbao 1-2 Barcelona

That would've been game over. Ousmane Dembele passes to Lionel Messi 20 yards out. Everyone knows what he will do, but the Athletic defenders can't stop it.

Messi takes a touch on to his left foot and curls at goal, it beats goalkeeper Unai Simon, but the ball bounces off the left upright. Nearly brilliant. Nearly.

  15. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 53 mins

    Athletic Bilbao 1-2 Barcelona

The ball is in the Athletic Bilbao net for a third time but this time Lionel Messi has gone just too early as he collects Frenkie de Jong's through ball and slides it into the net.

    Offside.

  16. Postpublished at 52 mins

    Athletic Bilbao 1-2 Barcelona

Nearly a second goal for Inaki Williams and nearly an equaliser for Athletic Bilbao.

Home substitute Mikel Balenziaga sends in a fine low cross and Williams is sliding in at the near post. He gets there first and sends the ball goalwards, but the sliding Ronald Araujo, just behind him, does well to get a touch and deflect the ball for a corner.

Athletic can't do anything with that set piece though.

  17. goal

GOAL - Milan 1-2 Juventuspublished at 21:11 Greenwich Mean Time 6 January 2021

    Federico Chiesa (62 mins)

    He's done it again!

Federico Chiesa produces a tremendous sidefoot finish from the edge of the area to give the champions the lead.

The 23-year-old cut in from the right to find Gianluigi Donnarumma's bottom right corner.

Moments later, the Italian appears teary-eyed as he is substituted. The dangerous Paulo Dybala also comes off for the visitors.

  18. Postpublished at 48 mins

    Athletic Bilbao 1-2 Barcelona

Lionel Messi chips a ball over the top of the Athletic defence, Antoine Griezmann gets there and heads the ball back into the path of Pedri, but the teenager, already with a goal and an assist to his name today, is crowded out.

  19. Postpublished at 21:06 Greenwich Mean Time 6 January 2021

We're back under way for the second half.

  20. Postpublished at 21:04 Greenwich Mean Time 6 January 2021

    Athletic Bilbao 1-2 Barcelona

If the result stays the same in Bilbao, Barcelona will move up from fifth to third and will be seven points behind leaders Atletico Madrid, although Atletico will have two games in hand on both second-placed Real Madrid and Barca.
