  2. 'The second goal is simply stupid'published at 22:14 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2021

    FT: Barnsley 0-2 Swansea

Barnsley head coach Valérien Ismaël told Sky Sports: "All the time the same story with us at the moment against the top six.

"I think the first half was very strong. We created a lot of situations, we were in the game, we were focused.

"We concede the goal just before half-time. It was a pity for us but we knew we can stay in the game.

"Then we come out in the second half and the second goal is simply stupid. We have to avoid these stupid mistakes.

"We have to improve. It is not a difficult situation to speak to each other and to stay in the game."

  4. 'The heart and soul we want'published at 22:07 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2021

    FT: Barnsley 0-2 Swansea

Swansea City head coach Steve Cooper told Sky Sports: "I have got to say the conditions were really tough. The pitch was difficult, it was windy, and it was whatever it took tonight.

"Does it look your typical Swansea performance? Not so much with the ball, but definitely heart and soul and what we want us to be in terms of desire and attitude.

"That's how the game went. Barnsley test you with territory. They want to get you in your own half and wear you down, but we didn't fall for that. We did the opposite.

"I am really happy with what I saw tonight."

  5. 'It's a great performance'published at 21:54 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2021

    FT: Barnsley 0-2 Swansea

Swansea City goalscorer Jamal Lowe told Sky Sports: "It's a great performance. We had the FA Cup last week, made a few changes, and the boys that came in did amazingly. Then the boys that had a little bit of rest came back in and carried on where we left off.

"We have to keep going on it, every game.

"(The first goal) was the ice-breaker. It was a bit scruffy, a bit back and forth and a lot long balls, but that goal definitely calmed it down a bit.

"Norwich are on top at the minute but we have got to keep winning our games and focus on that - keep going, keep battling and keep getting results and see where it takes us."

    FT: Barnsley 0-2 Swansea

    Swansea's defensive numbers are remarkable.

That is clean sheet number 14 in their 24 Championship matches so far this season.

They have conceded just 13 league goals, which is comfortably the best record in the EFL.

Barnsley have been in fine form, particularly at home, but Swansea were just too strong defensively tonight.

We will have reaction for you soon.

  7. FULL-TIME - Barnsley 0-2 Swansea Citypublished at 21:40 Greenwich Mean Time 16 January 2021

Swansea City have closed the gap to Championship leaders Norwich City to four points thanks to a hard-fought win at Barnsley.

It was more gritty than pretty, but Steve Cooper's team got the job done after going ahead against the run of play at the end of the first half through Ben Cabango.

In-form forward Jamal Lowe then doubled the lead early in the second period and that was close to job done for a Swansea side who are so formidable defensively.

Barnsley miss the chance to move to seventh while the Swans, in second, are now four points clear of third-placed Bournemouth is four points.

We are into the final quarter of this game and Swansea are in control.
