Barnsley 0-0 Swansea
There has not been much eye-catching football so far at Oakwell.
Swansea want to play a possession game but they have not been allowed to by the hungry home side.
Barnsley 0-0 Swansea
Callum Brittain curls an inviting cross into the Swansea penalty area but no Barnsley forward makes the right run and Freddie Woodman watches the ball roll past his post.
Barnsley 0-0 Swansea
Connor Roberts joins the list of Swansea players who have slipped over in the opening quarter of this game.
After snow in Yorkshire this week, the pitch does not look ideal.
Barnsley 0-0 Swansea
Ben Cabango miskicks a clearance and then Matt Grimes slips over as he tries to help the ball on.
It has been that kind of night so far for Swansea.
Barnsley 0-0 Swansea
From the corner which follows the Woodman saves, Conor Chaplin finds space in the box but his effort is blocked by Andre Ayew.
Barnsley 0-0 Swansea
The first save of the night is made by Swansea's Freddie Woodman, who gets down at his near post to deny Victor Adeboyejo.
Barnsley 0-0 Swansea
Ben Cabango makes a timely clearance to snuff out a Barnsley attack.
It is the hosts who are looking more menacing here.
Barnsley 0-0 Swansea
Valerien Ismael's Barnsley have won their last five games on home soil, and the Frenchman will be pleased with what he has seen so far here.
The Tykes have not allowed Swansea to settle and, as a result, the Welsh club have barely threatened.
Barnsley 0-0 Swansea
A first shot of the night as Ben Cabango's slip allows Victor Adeboyejo to run towards the Swansea box.
He drills over from 20 yards rather than looking to feed Cauley Woodrow.
Woodrow, once again, is not impressed.
Barnsley 0-0 Swansea
Barnsley's press prompts Swansea to cough up possession deep in their own half, but the visitors are not punished as they recover well.
Swansea boss Steve Cooper will not want to see much more of that, however.
Barnsley 0-0 Swansea
Cauley Woodrow gets the better of Ben Cabango and thinks he has a chance to run into Swansea's box, but the referee says Barnsley's top scorer committed a foul.
Woodrow is not impressed.
Barnsley 0-0 Swansea
Swansea work a neat short-corner routine, but Matt Grimes' drilled centre is cleared.
The Swans, in their unusual light blue and cherry-coloured kit, begin building from the back once more.
Barnsley 0-0 Swansea
Swansea are having most of the early possession, with Jamal Lowe's flick forcing an early corner for the visitors.
Barnsley 0-0 Swansea
Not the prettiest start. Barnsley look to go long from kick-off and the ball sails out of play.
Barnsley 0-0 Swansea
Here we go - we are off and running at Oakwell.
Barnsley v Swansea City (19:45 GMT)
Swansea wing-back Connor Roberts has been one of Steve Cooper's star performers so far this season.
The Wales international, a product of the Swans' academy, gave an emotional interview to BBC Wales this week about what it would mean to win promotion having been part of the team relegated from the top flight in 2018.
Roberts revealed that he "cried for days" after Swansea dropped out of the Premier League.
You can hear more from him here.
Barnsley v Swansea City (19:45 GMT)
Valerien Ismael was named Barnsley's head coach on 23 October and watched from the stands as they drew at Millwall the following day.
He has been in the dugout for 17 games since then and, remarkably, his team have not drawn one of them.
There have been 11 wins - including last weekend's FA Cup success against Tranmere - and six defeats for the former Bayern Munich and Crystal Palace centre-back.
So a draw is unlikely tonight, right? Then again, you might argue Barnsley are due one.
Barnsley v Swansea City (19:45 GMT)
Remember the last time these clubs met? You ought to, given that it was less than a month ago.
Barnsley were the last visiting side to play on the Liberty Stadium's ragged pitch - before Swansea splashed out on a new surface - when they travelled to Wales on 19 December.
Swansea ran out 2-0 winners thanks to a very early Jamal Lowe strike and an own goal from Victor Adeboyejo.
But Barnsley were by no means outplayed that night, and their form in recent weeks suggests Swansea can expect another examination in tonight's return fixture.
Barnsley v Swansea City (19:45 GMT)
Steve Cooper made a raft of changes for last weekend's FA Cup win at Stevenage, but tonight's team looks much more like the one he picked to face Watford in Swansea's last Championship outing a fortnight ago.
There is just one change from that day, with Kyle Naughton replacing Ryan Manning. With Ryan Bennett still out, Naughton will start in central defence with Jake Bidwell reverting to his usual slot on the left flank.
New signing Ben Hamer is on the bench.
Swansea: Woodman, Naughton, Cabango, Guehi, Roberts, Fulton, Smith, Grimes, Bidwell, Lowe, Ayew.
Subs: Hamer, Latibeaudiere, Manning, Byers, Dhanda, O Cooper, Routledge, Garrick, Cullen.
