  2. How it looks nowpublished at 22:05 Greenwich Mean Time 29 January 2021

    FT: Reading 3-1 Bournemouth

    Top of the Championship

It's a big win for Reading, who are now in touching distance of the top two.

Bournemouth lose a bit of ground, and wins for Bristol City or Middlesbrough tomorrow would put them level on points.

Plenty of pressure on at the top.

    FT: Reading 3-1 Bournemouth

Bournemouth's best first-half outlet was winger Arnaut Danjuma, but his replacement David Brooks was a gamechanger in the second-half.

His runs down the right caused ample problems, and it's testament to the home side's defence that they didn't yield more.

    FT: Reading 3-1 Bournemouth

Some cracking football played in that game. Reading's attacking play in the first-half was irresistible.

Lucas Joao led the line, the solid midfield base of Andy Rinomhota and Josh Laurent allowed Ovie Ejaria and John Swift to roam.

The second half was all about Tom McIntyre and Michael Morrison getting boot, body and head on the flurry of crosses that came in.

    Points secured.

    Reading 3-1 Bournemouth

Reading take three very important points in the Championship to bolster their promotion push against a genuine rival.

It was a performance that highlights all their strengths. The first-half was a riotous delight of attacking football, the second was a display of defensive discipline.

Bournemouth much better after the break, but it was too late.

Bonus points for the playing of the Grandstand theme over the PA at the Madjeski Stadium.

Bournemouth get a reward for their efforts in this second-half, and the goal comes from the boot of Junior Stanislas.

    Reading 3-0 Bournemouth

It's not quite Chelsea's bus-parking against Barcelona in the Champions League semi that time, but Reading have dug in brilliantly to defend their lead.

The first-half was cutting, attacking beauty. This is an exhibition of discipline.

Josh Laurent proves it by nudging the ball away from David Brooks as Bournemouth threaten the edge of the box.

Michael Olise needing a bit of help with cramp, in the meantime.

He's stayed down for treatment too the Reading man.

    Reading 3-0 Bournemouth

Bit of work for Asmir Begovic to do, as Reading press for a fourth.

Lucas Joao tries to play in Michael Olise but it's cut out, so he wraps his foot round it and brings Begovic into play.

The parry falls to Ovie Ejaria, and he drops it off for Josh Laurent, but he shoots right at the Bosnian.
