Jeff Gurr: Will we see Wilshere have a run-out tonight?

Well, the former Arsenal and West Ham midfielder is among the substitutes for the Cherries this evening despite netting his first goal of his second spell in the FA Cup win against Crawley on Tuesday.

Open start. Flowing game from end to end.

Bournemouth release Arnaut Danjuma down the left and he hares to the box.

The winger tries to bamboozle the defence but Reading in the shape of Michael Morrison nip the ball away and clear.

    Box of tricks though Danjuma.

Omar Richards shows great strength to hold off Josh King as Bournemouth raid down the right, shutting down the play and winning a free-kick.

Pacy, tough, mobile. Smart full-back and key for the Royals in defence and attack.

Lovely inside ball from Reading's Michael Olise releases Andy Rinomhota but he's blocked off.

The ball breaks back to Olise, but Asmir Begovic in the Bournemouth goal copes easily with the curling cross.

Thomas Holmes gallops down the right but is shepherded out in the end by the Bournemouth defensive cover.

Then Lewis Cook leaps, pushing his arm toward Andy Rinomhota and catching him but the Cherries midfielder escapes punishment.

    Reading's Rinomhota is thankfully ok.

    Reading 0-0 Bournemouth

Arnaut Danjuma stings the palms of Rafael Cabral, as Bournemouth get a shot away from the edge of the box and the Brazilian-Portuguese has to dive to push away.

Perhaps a routine save but a dangerous chance. Warning shot for Reading.

    Reading 0-0 Bournemouth

Bournemouth try to get Arnaut Danjuma in out on the left and he belts down to the byline but his cross is cut out by Andy Rinomhota.

The midfielder is the anchor to their midfield. Key figure.

Ha. Shouldn't have spoken so soon.

Reading through Tom McIntyre drive a long ball downfield and Chris Mepham completely misreads it, allowing Lucas Joao to dart in behind.

Bournemouth are grateful to Asmir Begovic for scampering out to claim it.

    Not pretty but effective.

    Reading 0-0 Bournemouth

Happy to inform you of a lack of hoof-it early on, both sides getting the ball forwards but it's on the floor, trying to prise holes.

Bodes well for a good game.

Pitch showing signs of the weather but plenty of encouraging green.

The final strains of 'Sweet Caroline' are shut off.

    Right, we're off.

    Reading v Bournemouth (20:00 GMT)

The two teams enter the field from separate areas of the stadium, Bournemouth plod onto the pitch from one corner, where the mud and clot, caused by the latest deluge this past week, is noticeable on the fringes.

Reading out from the usual tunnel. The pre-match ceremony is completed.

We've got a game to play.

A big chance for both sides to narrow the gap this evening on the automatic promotion places with a win.

Reading would need a pretty impressive victory to second on goal difference, but three more points for Veljko Paunovic's side would take them level with both Swansea and Watford.

Bournemouth could climb a couple of places up to fourth, including above the Royals, if they can come away from Berkshire with a win.

There's also one League Two game tonight, which kicked off 15 minutes late at 19:15 after the Scunthorpe team bus was delayed.

But the Iron got off to a fast start in Essex - they went 1-0 up after five minutes through Alfie Beestin and that's how the score remains with about five minutes to go until half-time.

And, to top it all off, it's the proverbial promotion six-pointer.

Two teams right in the mix for a return to Premier League glories, some more recent than others.

Fifth against six, and the chance to get a jump on the chasing pack amid a congested race for the play-offs.

So settle down, grab refreshments and stick with us. It's Reading versus Bournemouth in the Championship, and we're only a few minutes away.

Rivalries come in all shapes and sizes too.

This one is an unlikely pairing, forged in the 1980s when none of their traditional local derbies were a realistic proposition other than a chance cup draw.

Particularly around the turn of the century, and that aforementioned last day draw, it was a fairly heated encounter.

While those feelings might have mellowed somewhat, there will be enough feeling within both ranks of supporters to make this one a game to look for.

Tonight's game has plenty to live up to.

From Nicky Forster's late Reading equaliser in a 3-3 thriller in 2001 - a game that denied Bournemouth a play-off spot, right up to this season's remarkable 4-2 turnaround win for tonight's visitors.

There's usually drama when these two meet.
