Thomas Tuchel has only been here for three games so I will judge him at the end of the season.

He kicks every ball in the technical area and I think he's a good manager and it's a good start.

I do believe they will finish in the top four at the end of the season.

Question - What did you say to the referee at the end?

Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho: "I consider him one of the best referees in the Premier League. I care for him and one I have big admiration for. That gives me a good position to tell him I did not like his performance."

  6. 'It's a penalty that is difficult to accept'published at 22:23 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2021

    Chelsea 0-1 Tottenham

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho, speaking to BT Sport: "It was a bit of a struggle but how many chances did they have? We didn't have the ball, correct, we didn't create in the first half, correct. But the struggle was the penalty. In the end a penalty decides the game. In the end they score a penalty which is not a penalty that you say is a dangerous situation, one on one, almost scoring. It's a penalty that is difficult to accept and to lose the game like this is a bit painful.

"But in the second half we were different and Lucas [Moura] and [Erik] Lamela helped to change the dynamic. The feeling I have is that we kept together until the end. To finish with a positive spirit helps.

"Vinicius is a player with an incredible spirit but his understanding of how to press is something he's still not comfortable with. Then in the second half it was much more difficult for them, we pressed them much better and higher and in the second half I believe we deserved a little bit more."

  7. 'The way we finished the game gives me positive feelings'published at 22:19 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2021

    Tottenham 0-1 Chelsea

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Jose Mourinho tells BBC Sport: "We had a great chance by Vinicius, we can analyse the game from the first to the last minute. If you want to be pragmatic, one penalty, one goal, 1-0.

"When a team is in a difficult game against Chelsea, you concede that penalty and are affected by it. By the end of the the first half I saw a team that was struggling but it was totally the opposite in the second half.

"We miss a lot of important players but the spirit in the second half is untouchable.

"We don't like it (the form) but the way we finished the game gives me positive feelings. It is not that that stops the defensive mistakes but it gives us a difficult smile on the face and to stick together and go tomorrow.

"Hopefully next week Harry Kane will be back but not any of the others. We play Sunday against West Brom and they need points as much as us for different reasons."

  9. 'I am very happy'published at 22:14 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2021

    Tottenham 0-1 Chelsea

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel tells BT Sport: "Every experience we make is a step forward if we are opening to learning from it. The whole first half we totally controlled the game, very high up the pitch. Maybe we lost confidence in the second half because we lost the ball possession. We never lost the belief or structure. If it is necessary to suffer, you have to suffer.

"A bit more killer instinct and aggressive in the box, it would have been nice to decide and there were chances we lacked a bit of determination in the box. It was a big win in an away game and I am very happy.

"It is not only about tactics, about how we play and live it. They lived it 100% with full power and intensity. We never lost the belief, faith or courage to push high and for that you have to be brave and we were and the winners in the end."

  10. 'It's not about my methods'published at 22:10 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2021

    Tottenham 0-1 Chelsea

    Chelsea

Chelsea manager Thomas Tuchel: "We are super happy about the result. It was a tough game againat a strong opponet but we did very well and controlled the game well. It was a good first half. In the seocnd half we lost more of the possession and the distances in the passing were too long.

"If you play against a quality team you have to accept there are moments you have to suffer. We defended very actively and brave. We were looking for a second goal desperately as that would have killed the game.

"I'm happy with the spirit and the attitude in defending. A very solid team performance and a deserved win.

"It's not about my methods. I'm happy with the attitude, the squad, the potential. They are fine guys, it's a nice group and they are open. It's a pleasure to be around them. We have a lot of support in the whole club. It was a quick start but an easy one because I feel very welcome."

On Thiago Silva going off injured: "I saw Thiago with a big strap around his muscle but we have to wait. It's worrying because it's a muscle injury."

    Chelsea

Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount tells BT Sport: "We had a lot of control in the first half, we had chances where we need to be more clinical, myself included. It is tough to come here and control throughout but we played very well.

"The manager wants us to play in that style and it is working well, it is new and different for some us including me as a false nine and we are all learning.

"It will be difficult for other teams because different formations and tactics means they won't know what we will come with.

"I told him (Thomas Tuchel) I should have scored today and did not have my scoring boots on today. Something to work on in training."

  13. 'Deserved win'published at 22:02 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2021

    Tottenham 0-1 Chelsea

    Chelsea

Chelsea midfielder Jorginho tells BT Sport: "We knew it would be a hard game in the derby but we worked hard, created chances and deserved the win.

"We just needed to keep working hard in the second half. The results will come.

"The best thing is that we prepared, we worked and we need to think about the next game."

  14. 'Toothless Tottenham'published at 22:01 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2021

    Tottenham 0-1 Chelsea

    Clinton Morrison
Former Crystal Palace striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

Tottenham didn't deserve anything as they only started playing in the last five minutes.

It has been worse than the Brighton performance and we were looking for a response. Tottenham looked toothless and going forward it was just not good enough.

Chelsea thoroughly deserved it, they were the better team and in the second half they could've scored two or three on the counter attack.

When Harry Kane does not play, they are quite predictable. Son was really quiet and they do miss Kane. Today was not good enough, they were nowhere near at the races.
