On the return of Scott Allan after health issues, Ross said it is a boost to have him available, adding: "That's very much superseded by the personal side of it. He's had a challenging few months but we've been there a long with him to the point where he's back in the matchday squad. As a person, that's brilliant for him.
"We might see him on the park today, we might not, but even if we don't it's a big step forward for him."
St Johnstone v Hibernian (17:30)
Hibernian head coach Jack Ross says this match is another barometer of the progress they've made this season.
"We've put big demands on the players in terms of what we want to achieve as a club and in the main they've met them. There have been some bumps along the way, but you're always going to get that unless you're the absolute best in the league.
"This is a big day for us because if we win it's another step forward again."

Reaction from today's two Premiership games coming up, but we also have a League Cup semi-final from Hampden to look forward to.
It's a first win in four for Aberdeen, who record an impressive victory, courtesy of goals from defensive duo Tommie Hoban and Andrew Considine.
Motherwell's hopes were not helped by Liam Polworth dismissal, presumably for dissent.
Goalkeeper Liam Kelly in inspired form, made a string of saves to prevent the margin of victory becoming more emphatic.

Aberdeen 2-0 Motherwell
Tyrone Smith
BBC Scotland at Pittodrie
Aberdeen have been absolutely rampant in this second half. Ten-man Motherwell are getting a real going over, the only surprise is that the hosts haven't scored a few more. They've created enough chances to win several games.

Rangers celebrated Steven Gerrard's 150th game as manager by stretching their Scottish Premiership lead to 23 points after thumping Ross County.
Poor marking allowed Ryan Kent and Filip Helander to head the home side into a healthy lead before Joe Aribo's fine finish before half-time.
Ryan Jack scored his return from injury before Connor Goldson's headed finish.
They could even afford a missed penalty from James Tavernier as they remain unbeaten in the league this season.
Aberdeen 2-0 Motherwell
Motherwell have goalkeeper Liam Kelly to thank for keeping the score down.
Kelly makes another great save as he repels Matty Kenny's rasping shot.
Rangers 5-0 Ross County
Sam Cosgrove drives forward and is one on one with the goalkeeper, but the Aberdeen striker's shot is poor and 10-man Motherwell are spared conceding a third.
Connor Goldson
Yet another goal for Rangers.
This time it's centre-half Connor Goldson stooping to turn the ball home off head and shoulder, in off the far post following a corner.
County will want this game done and dusted before further blood-letting and a long journey back up the A9.
