    Livingston 1-0 St Mirren

St Mirren's first sight at goal, but Eamonn Brophy's effort from 25 yards is ambitious - too ambitious - and is wide of the mark.

    Livingston 1-0 St Mirren

Another blow for St Mirren as Ethan Erhahon is down holding his head after challenging Scott Pittman for a high ball.

It's young Brandon Mason who's meant to be marking Robinson at the initial cross. Jim Goodwin will be furious because you know Livingston possess that threat from dead balls

It's a really good ball in, coming in with pace and a bit of bend. Robinson's presence of mind is brilliant. He hasn't stopped moving once and powers the header into the back of the net

GOAL - Livingston 1-0 St Mirrenpublished at 9mins

    Scott Robinson

Livi have been the bigger threat early on and take the lead from one of the dead balls from which they are renowned.

Scott Robinson heads on a free-kick pumped into the penalty box, team-mate Efe Ambrose heads against the face of the crossbar, but the wee striker is there to nod in the rebound.

    Livingston 0-0 St Mirren

Livi are the first to threaten and Jon Guthrie, so often a goalscorer from defence, fires a shot at goal from just outside the penalty box, but it is straight at goalkeeper Jak Alnwick.

Seconds later, forward Josh Mullin does likewise. More power this time but same end product.

Pressure is always there from within, but unfortunately we're not going to get it from the fans as sometimes they can influence the game. This is where managers will earn their corn as their motivational abilities will be tested

  17. Form favours Livingstonpublished at 15:45 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2021

    Livingston v St Mirren (16:00)

While Jim Goodwin's Paisley side are without a win in four outings, David Martindale remains unbeaten in 10 games since taking over at Livingston.

Indeed, the West Lothian side had won eight in a row until two commendable league draws with holders Celtic.

It has put them nine points and three places ahead of their Hampden rivals in the top flight, albeit fifth-top Livingston have played two games more.

St Mirren, though, have got here by knocking out two of Scotland's top four sides - Aberdeen and Rangers - and won both the Premiership meetings between the side's this season 1-0. Indeed, they were the last side to beat the West Lothian outfit.

  18. Two sides seeking second League Cuppublished at 15:41 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2021

    Livingston v St Mirren (16:00)

This is St Mirren's first semi-final since winning the trophy in 2013, while Livingston last reached this stage in 2006, when they lost to Dunfermline Athletic.

Both Scottish Premiership clubs have only progressed further to lift the trophy once previously.

St Mirren, who won it in 2013 when Goodwin was captain, are aiming for a fourth appearance in the final, while Livingston are looking to end a 17-year wait to reach the final again since their only - but successful - appearance, when they defeated Hibs 2-0.

  19. Eight Livi changes as Brown misses outpublished at 15:37 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2021

    Livingston v St Mirren (16:00)

David Martindale spoke in midweek about having "to be efficient" in his bid to secure league points while saving energy for the semi-final with having to face Celtic in the Premiership on Wednesday.

He secured a point in a 2-2 draw despite making seven changes for that game and makes another eight here.

On-loan Monaco man Julien Sorrano, fellow defender Jon Guthrie and midfielder Scott Pittman are the only survivors.

Martindale says he is "gutted" that centre-half Ciaran Brown, on loan from Cardiff City, misses out through suspension after his fine goalscoring performance in midweek.

  20. Real Roy Of The Rovers stuff - Lennonpublished at 15:34 Greenwich Mean Time 24 January 2021

    Livingston v St Mirren (16:00)

Clyde manager Danny Lennon described leading St Mirren to League Cup glory in 2013 as "real Roy Of The Rovers stuff" after beating Celtic in the semi-final before overcoming Hearts in the final.

He points out that it was "the making of" a certain John McGinn, the future Aston Villa and Scotland midfielder who bossed Celtic's Victor Wanyama, who himself would win a move to Southampton, in a "battle of the bums".

Of present St Mirren manager Jim Goodwin, Lennon says: "Jim was a great captain, good professional and good leader. To win it again as manager would be an incredible achievement.

"Today, it is all about who wants it more, who keeps their discipline and gets a wee break along the way."
