    Middlesbrough 0-0 Blackburn

Nathan Wood almost dozes off and loses it to a chasing Adam Armstrong but recovers well.

Boro streak forward as Duncan Watmore crosses but Jacob Davenport hoiks it away,

Home side finishing the half on top.

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Blackburn

Pivotal challenge by Joe Buckley on the edge of the Blackburn box, as Boro's Sam Morsy was ready to draw that right foot back.

Just had it nicked off him. Rovers regroup. Joe Rothwell pushes a pass but it's robbed.

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Blackburn

Just some sloppy execution and accuracy from Blackburn in midfield gifts Boro the ball and Sam Morsy shuffles his way down the left to win a corner.

Another chance for Paddy McNair to swing one in... flicked away only as far as Marc Bola, whose shot is turned towards goal by George Saville... but wide of the post.

Similarly excellent through ball by Middlesbrough, long by Paddy McNair gets Marcus Tavernier in behind but his touch takes it through to Thomas Kaminski.

We're talking 'Position of Maximum Opportunity' here I think. AKA Bang it forward.

Challenges snapping about in midfield from both sides with neither able to grab this game by the scruff of the neck.

I've liked what I've seen from Paddy McNair for Boro, and little flashes of class from Joe Rothwell for Rovers.

But overall all a bit scratchy.

Some lovely football from Blackburn there.

Long raking diagonal in behind tracks Barry Douglas' forward run, and with Adam Armstrong on his should in-field he cushions a little pass but it won't bounce for the Rovers striker.

Not all route one is unsightly.

Boro's reply is to stroll forward through the influential Paddy McNair, but after he picks out George Saville, it's a horrible shank behind from his Northern Ireland international teammate.

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Blackburn

Boro's Paddy McNair has shown us a cultured right foot on a couple of occasions in this game but his most recent free-kick was well over hit. Just whizzed away high and wide.

Held down square too long, in Fifa parlance.

  9. Postpublished at 32 mins

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Blackburn

Blackburn have looked to the energy of Ryan Nyambe down the right as a big outlet, with Boro committing both Marc Bola and Duncan Watmore to keeping him quiet.

The game starting to creep Boro's way though.

Barry Douglas runs into Djed Spence and gives away a free-kick with the double whammy of coming off worse.

  10. GREAT SAVE!published at 29 mins

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Blackburn

Thomas Kaminski shows strong palms for Blackburn, tipping Britt Assombalonga's fiercely taken free-kick over the bar. Boro come close.

The subsequent corner causes problems, Boro midfielder Sam Morsy scuffs a shot towards goal inside the box but it trickles wide. Just.

Jarrad Branthwaite is a talented young player but he's having a nightmare.

First he allows George Saville to get the ball off him, and stumbles.

The ball breaks to Britt Assombalonga and he's about to get in, he's clipped by Jacob Davenport. Booking for him.

    Dangerous set-piece.

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Blackburn

Blackburn have the better of the possession without actually doing much with it.

Boro swing in a free kick from Paddy McNair, it was arcing beautifully but Darragh Lenihan guides it away for a corner.

There's more to come from the set-piece... McNair goes back-post but Thomas Kaminski gratefully clutches it in.

Ball rolls loose and Joe Rothwell pounces for Blackburn, haring forward but his cross is defused by Marc Bola.

Want to see more from Rothwell, Harvey Elliott and Adam Armstrong, really fluid front three.

Djed Spence scoots down the right for Boro in reply, but his raid comes to nothing too.

Simmering this one, I sense some excitement isn't far away.

Forget could. Having seen that again, Jarrad Branthwaite's boot is high and definitely connects.

    Should have been a penalty.

    Dael FryImage source, Rex Features

Another switch this time for Boro, as Dael Fry is off injured following that clash with Jarrad Branthwaite in the box and Nathan Wood is on in his place.

Andy White: How was that not a penalty?

  17. Postpublished at 17 mins

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Blackburn

Neil Warnock on his bench looks like he could combust right now on the sidelines, he felt that was definitely a penalty. Incendiary mood from the veteran Boro boss. Ronnie Jepson not too happy either.

Dael Fry is a bloodied man from the incident. A gash by the eye by the looks of it.

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Blackburn

Great burst of acceleration and trickery by Marcus Tavernier bypasses the Rovers defence but the visitors scramble and his cross is stubbed behind.

Rovers keeper Thomas Kaminski and Dael Fry get into a tizz.

The ball swings in and Kaminski punches clear... Boro recycle the cross with Paddy McNair curling in at pace as Fry connects but it goes wide.

Jarrad Branthwaite looked to catch him high with the boot, and it's a painful one for the Teessiders centre-half.

Could have been a penalty that one.

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Blackburn

Nervy moment for Middlesbrough, as Joe Rothwell pinches the ball ofrf Djed Spence and heads for the box, but the Blackburn forward is swamped and danger is averted.

When Rovers move the ball quickly they are picking holes in the Boro defence.

  20. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 9 mins

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Blackburn

Bradley Johnson got into a 50-50 with Dael Fry, and the Blackburn midfielder is limping about at the moment.

The experienced midfield anchor is a big part of their donkey work in midfield. He's had to come off and John Buckley is on in his place.

    Early set-back for Rovers.
