Similarly excellent through ball by Middlesbrough, long by Paddy McNair gets Marcus Tavernier in behind but his touch takes it through to Thomas Kaminski.

Challenges snapping about in midfield from both sides with neither able to grab this game by the scruff of the neck.

I've liked what I've seen from Paddy McNair for Boro, and little flashes of class from Joe Rothwell for Rovers.

But overall all a bit scratchy.

Some lovely football from Blackburn there.

Long raking diagonal in behind tracks Barry Douglas' forward run, and with Adam Armstrong on his should in-field he cushions a little pass but it won't bounce for the Rovers striker.

Not all route one is unsightly.

Boro's reply is to stroll forward through the influential Paddy McNair, but after he picks out George Saville, it's a horrible shank behind from his Northern Ireland international teammate.

Boro's Paddy McNair has shown us a cultured right foot on a couple of occasions in this game but his most recent free-kick was well over hit. Just whizzed away high and wide.

Blackburn have looked to the energy of Ryan Nyambe down the right as a big outlet, with Boro committing both Marc Bola and Duncan Watmore to keeping him quiet.

The game starting to creep Boro's way though.

Thomas Kaminski shows strong palms for Blackburn, tipping Britt Assombalonga's fiercely taken free-kick over the bar. Boro come close.

Jarrad Branthwaite is a talented young player but he's having a nightmare.

First he allows George Saville to get the ball off him, and stumbles.

The ball breaks to Britt Assombalonga and he's about to get in, he's clipped by Jacob Davenport. Booking for him.

Dangerous set-piece.

Blackburn have the better of the possession without actually doing much with it.

Boro swing in a free kick from Paddy McNair, it was arcing beautifully but Darragh Lenihan guides it away for a corner.

Another switch this time for Boro, as Dael Fry is off injured following that clash with Jarrad Branthwaite in the box and Nathan Wood is on in his place.

Nervy moment for Middlesbrough, as Joe Rothwell pinches the ball ofrf Djed Spence and heads for the box, but the Blackburn forward is swamped and danger is averted.

When Rovers move the ball quickly they are picking holes in the Boro defence.

Bradley Johnson got into a 50-50 with Dael Fry, and the Blackburn midfielder is limping about at the moment.

The experienced midfield anchor is a big part of their donkey work in midfield. He's had to come off and John Buckley is on in his place.
