Cardiff needed that goal, as the game was edging away from them.

    Can Barnsley keep it up?

Jay Fulton has become the third Swansea player booked tonight for a late challenge on Ivan Toney.

Brentford will feel the Scot is fortunate to remain on the pitch after he got away with a blatant pull-back on Josh Dasilva before the break.

Swansea duo Kyle Naughton and Conor Hourihane have also seen yellow for cynical fouls.

The truth is that at times, the hosts have been forced to foul keep Brentford at bay.

    Cauley Woodrow (52 mins)

    Barnsley go two in front!

Two great headers from two fine deliveries for the Tykes.

Couple of early efforts for both sides.

Rotherham scorer Matt Crooks played in Michael Smith, who saw his shot blocked in the Millers penalty area.

Wes Harding then generated a save from Marcus Bettinelli from the edge of the box.

Then, just minutes later, Patrick Roberts snapped a volley for Boro over the top of the Rotherham crossbar.

    HT: Middlesbrough 0-1 Rotherham

Matt Crooks' goal gives Rotherham the lead and advantage at half-time.

He might have scored earlier, likewise Michael Smith, as Rotherham impressed.

Boro have been in and around the box without genuinely creating too many chances.

    HT: Coventry 0-0 Sheff Wed

Both sides have had half-chances here, Leo Ostigard's header and Max Biamou volleying over at the back post for Coventry and conversely for Wednesday, Matt Penney forcing Ben Wilson into a save with a fierce effort.

    HT: Swansea 0-0 Brentford

Just one shot on target at the Liberty Stadium so far, as Brentford have dominated possession but failed to truly trouble Freddie Woodman in the Swans goal.

    HT: Barnsley 1-0 Cardiff

What a good header it was from Mads Andersen by the way. Great cross from the right by Dominik Frieser, into a dangerous area and the run of Andersen was perfect, finding space to bury his header into the roof of the net.

One of just two Championship goals so far.

  16. goal

GOAL: Middlesbrough 0-1 Rotherhampublished at 19:45 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January 2021

    Matt Crooks (43 mins)

Neil Warnock has seen his side lose back-to-back home games against Birmingham and Blackburn and are behind here now.

Boro couldn't clear after a Rotherham shot was blocked with George Saville's header falling straight to Matt Crooks, who hit low skidding into the bottom corner past Marcus Bettinelli.

Big for Rotherham that, who have had some good chances and now a reward.

  17. Postpublished at 19:43 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January 2021

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Rotherham

Sam Morsy gives the Boro groundstaff a bit of work to do in collecting the ball after he slaps a shot high into the stand behind the goal after a counter-attack.

More of a destroyer than a creator, is the Egypt international.

Not a bundle of chances at Oakwell, but Cardiff are at least creating in response to Barnsley's opener.

    Swansea 0-0 Brentford

Vitaly Janelt puts himself in the way of a Swansea chance for newboy Conor Hourihane, blocking bravely.

It all came from Jamal Lowe's persistence in robbing Rico Henry.

Previously, Brentford had a chance when Ivan Toney crossed but Bryan Mbeumo and a teammate got mixed up attacking the same ball and it was an easy take for Freddie Woodman.
