    Coventry 0-0 Sheff Wed

Brighton loanee Leo Ostigard has been a really smart signing for Coventry and he wasn't far away with a header just now.

Gustavo Hamer banged in the corner, Ostigard connected but Wednesday keeper Keiren Westwood got down brilliantly to make a save.

Brentford have been the better side thus far here, with Swansea suffering because they have been unable to look after the ball.

Thomas Frank's team are in charge of possession and as a result they are controlling the game.

The best news of the night so far from Swansea's point of view is that Brentford have not taken the lead, with clear-cut chances at a premium.

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Rotherham

Matt Crooks follows Michael Smith in passing up an excellent chance for the Millers at Boro.

He prompts a rare error from Jonny Howson and heads for goal but pushes his chance wide of the mark.

At the other end, Angus McDonald made a telling intervention to deny Britt Assombalonga before that after Marc Bola sent in the delivery.

    Barnsley 1-0 Cardiff

Perry Ng has only recently joined Cardiff but he has at least given Brad Collins and his Barnsley teammates something to think about.

The former Crewe man sees his shot blocked and Will Vaulks is unable to turn the rebound home.

  5. Postpublished at 19:25 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January 2021

    Swansea 0-0 Brentford

Brentford just starting to crank things up at the Liberty.

Rico Henry's crashed shot from the edge of the penalty area sizzled just wide, and then Mathias Jensen and Sergi Canos had efforts blocked in the 18-yard-box.

    Can Swansea cling on?

GOAL: Barnsley 1-0 Cardiffpublished at 19:21 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January 2021

    Mads Andersen (20 mins)

Oh there's a cat amongst the pigeons!

Mads Andersen has punished Cardiff's static defending when he met a Dominik Frieser cross with his head and powered it into the top corner wide of Alex Smithies.

Barnsley in front, and it's a miserable return to his hometown for new Cardiff boss Mick McCarthy so far.

    Swansea 0-0 Brentford

Still not a lot by way of chances at the Liberty Stadium, although it is Brentford carrying most of the fight so far.

Freddie Woodman made a stop from Ivan Toney but the referee had already shrilled on his whistle when the Bees forward got his shot away.

Foul was on ex-Brentford man Jake Bidwell.

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Rotherham

Michael Smith fizzes a shot agonisingly just wide of the Middlesbrough goal, after Matt Crooks' pass set him away.

He took the chance early, from the edge of the box, didn't catch it totally cleanly but it wasn't far away. Marcus Bettinelli arguably just had it covered.

  9. Postpublished at 19:14 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January 2021

    Coventry 0-0 Sheff Wed

Couple of chances for both sides as Ben Sheaf sees his shot blocked in the Wednesday box for the Sky Blues...

...at the other end Matt Penney caught a terrific effort from Barry Bannan's corner but Ben Wilson makes the stop for the hosts.

It wasn't a clean take, it trickled behind for a corner.

  10. DISALLOWED GOALpublished at 19:12 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January 2021

    Barnsley 0-0 Cardiff

Barnsley had the ball in the back of the net, Cauley Woodrow is penalised for a push.

To be honest it looked like Aden Flint shoved him into goalkeeper Alex Smithies as he challenged for the ball.

    Nervy for Cardiff.

Mick McCarthy has already made his presence felt at Cardiff with his team selection. Aden Flint is in at the back, there's no Harry Wilson - the skilful winger is left on the bench.

Kieffer Moore is in against his old club. No major incidents to report so far.

  12. Postpublished at 19:07 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January 2021

    Middlesbrough 0-0 Rotherham

Jonny Howson releases Britt Assombalonga for Boro, but as he lashes a shot at Jamal Blackman, the referee's assistant has his flag up.

Offside, but Neil Warnock's side pushing early on.

  13. Bees to test Swans' resilience?published at 19:06 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January 2021

    Swansea 0-0 Brentford

    Gareth Vincent
BBC Sport Wales at the Liberty Stadium

Swansea City have conceded only 13 goals in 24 league games this season, making them the meanest team in the EFL.

But you would expect their resilience to be this evening tonight by Ivan Toney and company.

Toney was not around when these clubs met in last season's play-offs, but there are plenty of players - and two bosses - who were.

After a fair bit of hostility between the teams in those two semi-final meetings, it will be interesting to see if there is more ill-feeling tonight.

  14. Postpublished at 19:05 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January 2021

    Coventry 0-0 Sheff Wed

First chance goes the way of Coventry, as Matty James rapps a volley at goal which is blocked.

That's the sort of tone we want setting tonight. Lively.

  15. Postpublished at 19:03 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January 2021

    Barnsley 0-0 Cardiff

Great to see both teams wearing T-shirts supporting Cardiff defender Sol Bamba at Oakwell in the warm-up.

Bamba was diagnosed with non-Hodgkin Lymphoma recently.

I know all about that form of cancer, as my mum has it. Thoughts with Sol.

Chris Waddle was strolling about for Wednesday when they last did the double over Coventry

Manager-less Sheffield Wednesday have revived under Neil Thompson in the Championship, with three wins from four.

It's a necessary return to form, as they're six points adrift in the relegation zone at present as Thompson continues as interim boss.

Coventry have gone off the boil, with just one win in the past six in the second-tier.

Mark Robins' side had an excellent November and start of December to pull clear but have been dragged back in.

Tonight's game is a chance for Wednesday to secure their first double since 1995-96 - the heady days of Premier League football at both clubs.

  18. Looking up or facing down?published at 18:55 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January 2021

    Middlesbrough v Rotherham (19:00 GMT)

    Neil WarnockImage source, Getty Images

Middlesbrough will need all of Neil Warnock's fortune when it comes to facing Rotherham tonight, after recent home defeats at the hands of Birmingham and Blackburn.

He has never lost in 17 games against the Millers.

Sunday's loss saw Dael Fry sidelined with a severe eye injury, although Warnock has been more positive about the defender's position in recent days.

His side were excellent against Nottingham Forest in midweek but failed to take their chances against Rovers on the weekend.

Rotherham and Paul Warne have shown some mettle in their bid to avoid the drop, beating Wayne Rooney's Derby to ruin his first permanent game in charge, and then taking Stoke to an entertaining 3-3

In-form Matt Crooks and top-scorer Michael Smith will be key here. Points are vital with a five-point gap between them and Derby above.

  19. Play-off hopefuls put record on the linepublished at 18:53 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January 2021

    Swansea v Brentford (19:00 GMT)

This fixture brings together two of the Championship in-form sides, like two prize fighters putting records on the line, it's a match with proper pedigree.

Both clubs have progressive, modern managers in Steve Cooper and Thomas Frank respectively; tacticians who believe in a passing game and cultivate a positive footballing image.

Swansea's one defeat in 11 record has propelled them into the play-offs and the fifth round of the FA Cup. Jamal Lowe has hit form with seven in the past eight, while their ambitions are evident in the signing of Villa's Conor Hourihane to boost their midfield.

Brentford are without defeat in 16 games in the league, all the more impressive given they lost two of the figureheads of last season's promotion-run in Said Benrahma and Ollie Watkins. Replacement forward Ivan Toney has more than picked up their reins with 16 goals.

  20. Will hometown Tykes spoil Mick's Bluebirds bow?published at 18:51 Greenwich Mean Time 27 January 2021

    Barnsley v Cardiff (19:00 GMT)

    Mick McCarthyImage source, Getty Images

I expect Barnsley-born Mick McCarthy will be chuffed there is no partisan support in at Oakwell tonight, as he begins his Cardiff adventure at the club where he made 314 appearances and is still described as a "bonafide" legend.

In other circumstances he might have been heartened by the upturn in form - 12 wins from 21 games in all competitions - for his hometown Tykes have enjoyed under Valerien Ismael's arrival, despite three straight league defeats.

However, he has his own issues to worry about at a Bluebirds side who have lost their last six in all competitions, and freefallen away from the promotion picture. It was enough to cost predecessor Neil Harris his job.

Form favours the former Republic of Ireland hardman/gaffer though - he's not lost against Barnsley in nine games as a Championship manager.
