    Forest pipping the ball about in midfield in matador-like fashion in reply. They have found some swagger.

    Forest go left and the ball is swung into the box, picking out the supporting Knockaert on the right but his shot is smuggled behind.

    Colin Kazim-Richards heads away, the Frenchman has a third moment for Forest but Nathan Byrne outmuscles him for a goal-kick.

    Lee Buchanan is clattered by Glenn Murray, and a second is again pumped in.

    Graeme Shinnie picks out Matt Clarke who booms a header back across goal but Jason Knight's connection sails wide of the post.

    He and Martyn Waghorn were queueing up there.

    It all came from static midfield play from Forest, with Derby able to work the ball between the lines to Jason Clarke, and his pass released Kazim-Richards.

    In turn, Forest attack the left wing but Yuri Ribeiro's header is guided away by Andre Wisdom.

    Max Bird makes a key intervention in midfield as Forest lift the ball into the melee, and Derby build from the back again.

    Forest's press then almost gets them in as Matt Clarke has the ball pinched by Anthony Knockaert but the ball just fizzes through to Kelle Roos in time.

    Armed with the confidence of a 1-0 lead, Forest push the ball forward and call Derby's bluff, with Nathan Byrne opting for a safety-first approach by clearing into the stands.

    Anthony Knockaert is fouled a long way out, and James Garner tries a first-time shot to catch out Kelle Roos. It's well, well wide.

    At times this lacked all the ingredients of a derby but the heat levels definitely rose.

    Derby need to hit the reset button, rediscover their rhythm and belief. Wayne Rooney and his coaching staff will be preaching calm but wanting more.

    For Forest, the break probably came while they had hit their right gear and they'll have to slip right back into that groove. That said, it'll be a happy Chris Hughton after a mixed opening quarter.
