  2. 'We really fancied ourselves' - Goodwinpublished at 17:59 Greenwich Mean Time 30 January 2021

    FT: Celtic 1-2 St Mirren

St Mirren manager Jim Goodwin is revelling in an "incredible afternoon" for his team.

"We really fancied ourselves coming here today," Goodwin tells BBC Sportsound.

"The system we played was attacking and the boys bought into it brilliantly.

"We deserved the win, it wasn't a case of Jak Alnwick making a number of great saves.

"We were hanging on in the last 10 minutes but that was purely down to fatigue."

  3. 'Fundamentals' won it for Hibs - Rosspublished at 17:57 Greenwich Mean Time 30 January 2021

    FT: Dundee United 0-2 Hibernian

Hibs head coach Jack Ross is pleased to see his side end a run of three games without an away win.

"We have a very good record away from home this season and to continue that today is pleasing," he said.

"I think we did the different aspects of the game very well. With the conditions of the pitch around the country at this time of year, you have to do the fundamentals and the ugly side of the game properly and rely on the quality you have in the squad - and I think that's what won us the game."

Of Darren McGregor's opening goal, Ross says: "Darren has been a threat in the box throughout his career - usually from his head. But his finish was emphatic and it was significant because we've seen the importance of the first goal in recent weeks. It probably gave us increased confidence.

"We have done a lot of good things and the last three or four weeks have clouded that a little bit and you want to get back to winning ways as soon as you can."

  4. 'We looked scared', laments Killie boss Dyerpublished at 17:55 Greenwich Mean Time 30 January 2021

    FT: Kilmarnock 2-3 St Johnstone

Kilmarnock manager Alex Dyer tells BBC Sportsound: "We organised ourselves going in at half-time, we were steady and we were controlling the game.

"As soon as they got a goal back we started panicking and we went to bits. When it went 2-2 there was only one team going to win it.

"We looked scared. That's our problem at the moment. It's these games we should be getting maximum points in."

  5. 'These victories are so enjoyable' - Davidsonpublished at 17:53 Greenwich Mean Time 30 January 2021

    FT: Kilmarnock 2-3 St Johnstone

St Johnstone manager Callum Davidson tells BBC Sportsound: "We started the game pretty well and find ourselves two down. We dominated most of the half.

"I asked the players to be brave, move it and get down the sides. They were absolutely fantastic second half, they kept going. These kind of victories are so enjoyable."

On potential transfer business: "There might be one or two things moving. We'll wait and see."

  6. Livi close to landing new loan playerpublished at 17:50 Greenwich Mean Time 30 January 2021

    FT: Livingston 0-0 Aberdeen

Livingston manager David Martindale tells BBC Scotland his club are on the verge of bringing in a new player from abroad on loan, but wouldn't let slip the name.

He said: "He's a left sided midfield and left-sided centre half. He's on loan for six months and there's an option to extend it, so it gives me the chance to look at the kid."

On the 0-0 draw with Aberdeen, he felt a draw was fair.

"It's another clean sheet, that's nine clean sheets in 13 games which is brilliant, phenomenal," said Martindale, whose side are now 13 games unbeaten.

"I thought we stood up to the test today. We can match teams in the top six so there's no reason why we can't be in the top six.

"We'll change the team again [for Tuesday's return at Pittodrie], freshen up some legs, and give some boys an opportunity."

  7. No hand-ball consistency - Mellonpublished at 17:46 Greenwich Mean Time 30 January 2021

    FT: Dundee United 0-2 Hibernian

Dundee United manager Micky Mellon feels let down by the officials, comparing a penalty given against Lawrence Shankland in their 5-1 defeat by St Mirren with one denied today for a hand ball by Hibs' Josh Doig.

"We should have had a penalty if there is any consistency," he tells BBC Scotland. "The same thing happens today and, with the same fourth official, we don't get it."

As for his side's run of seventh game without a win, Mellon says: "We got into some good areas, but we just need some more composure and quality when we get in there.

"In terms of tempo and effort we played at, I thought we were the better side in the second half.

"They are having a right good go, we are trying to play the right way and we just need that bit of quality and get the rub of the green.

"Some of the performances were great. We know at some point it's going to click and it will go our way."

  8. 'Low point' for Lennon, who feels let downpublished at 17:42 Greenwich Mean Time 30 January 2021

    FT: Celtic 1-2 St Mirren

A despondent Celtic manager Neil Lennon is asked if he feels let down by some of his players, answering "yes".

Asked if the pressure of chasing a record consecutive 10th title has been too much for some of his squad, he replies: "I wouldn't disagree with that."

He adds: "It was a poor performance, a poor result.

"We expect to build a crescendo of pressure and break teams down but that's been missing this season.

"The lack of belief and lack of quality - it's not just individuals, it's a collective, and it's symptomatic of the season.

"There has definitely been a disconnect between the team that ended last season and the team that started this one.

"It's a low point in terms of the performance and the result - but I'll keep working away trying my best."

  9. 'There's a lot right about the team' - McInnespublished at 17:37 Greenwich Mean Time 30 January 2021

    FT: Livingston 0-0 Aberdeen

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes tells BBC Scotland: "I thought it was a decent game, two teams with a healthy regard for each other, it was very competitive. Considering we had no recognised number nine, I think if we were told we would have those chances that we had in the game we would have been happy with that, but unfortunately for us we didn't take those chances.

"The positive is that's three clean sheets in a row, there's a lot right about the team, but for all the good we're doing - and we are good side - we clearly could do with that number nine at the top end of the pitch.

"Defensively as a team out of possession we were brilliant today. Livi constantly asked the question but we stood up to it."

  12. No Nisbet or Porteous for Hibs; no problempublished at 17:17 Greenwich Mean Time 30 January 2021

    FT: Dundee United 0-2 Hibernian

    BBC Scotland at Tannadice

Hibs boss Jack Ross benched transfer targets Kevin Nisbet and Ryan Porteous and while that may have raised a few eyebrows, in truth they managed pretty well without them.

The visitors scored two great goals, one a thumping finish from Darren McGregor, the other a cool finish from Martin Boyle from a lovely Jackson Irvine pass.

Hibs will be hoping the win can be a real launch pad in their push to finish as at least the best of the rest - behind Rangers and Celtic.

As for United, they are now seven games without a win, so there is plenty for manager Micky Mellon to ponder.

  13. 'No purpose from Celtic'published at 17:10 Greenwich Mean Time 30 January 2021

    FT: Celtic 1-2 St Mirren

That's a sixth home defeat for Celtic this season in all competitions.

"It looked like it was too much for some of the players," says former goalkeeper Pat Bonner on BBC Sportsound.

"There was no one playing with any purpose, to beat a man and get a shot away. It looks like things are drifting and it just getting worse and worse for them.

"This is a desperate result for Neil Lennon and Peter Lawwell.

"St Mirren matched the midfield diamond man-for-man and it worked a treat."

    FT: Celtic 1-2 St Mirren

  16. FULL-TIME Celtic 1-2 St Mirrenpublished at 16:56 Greenwich Mean Time 30 January 2021

St Mirren end their 31-year wait for an away over Celtic with a stunning victory.

First-half goals from Kristian Dennis and Ilkay Durmus do the job for Jim Goodwin's men, who beat Celtic for the first time in the league since 2010.

Odsonne Edouard's strike briefly hauled Celtic level, but this was another meek display from Neil Lennon's faltering champions.

Hibs ease to victory over a disappointing United, who have now gone seven games without a win - including four at home.

  19. FULL-TIME Livingston 0-0 Aberdeenpublished at 16:53 Greenwich Mean Time 30 January 2021

It's another game unbeaten for Livingston, who stretch that run to 13 games.

And it's another stalemate for Aberdeen, who really need a striker.

The Dons stay one point ahead of Hibs in third place.

  20. FULL-TIME Kilmarnock 2-3 St Johnstonepublished at 16:51 Greenwich Mean Time 30 January 2021

The Perth side leapfrog their hosts in the league table after a fantastic second-half display.

They were unlucky to be 2-0 down at the interval but certainly didn't let the heads go down.

Kilmarnock slip to ninth and stay just five points ahead of bottom side Hamilton.
