Good from Tomas Soucek though, the first we've seen of him to pick out a fine ball to Jarrod Bowen on the West Ham right. He takes too long though and can't get a cross in.

A game too far? The relentless schedule may be taking a toll, neither side have been within sight of their best.

West Ham have hardly put a pass together. Simple balls as well. They've really not played well the first half of this game. They have much more to offer than what they have shown.

West Ham clueless whenever they get the ball. Lost without Antonio.

    Nick

Nice to see West Ham setting up with a traditional flat back eight.

  5. 'You have to put your golden chances away'published at 20:01 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2021

    FT: Burnley 0-2 Bournemouth

    Burnley

Burnley boss Sean Dyche, speaking to Match of the Day: "We were not quite at the races in the first half. we gave away a soft goal but in the second half we really took the game on, missed a golden chance and from then on we were chasing it really. In the end it was two teams battling out on a scruffy pitch on a scruffy night.

"We've no more injuries, which is a positive in itself, but the feel of the group. There was the underbelly of a performance there and the belief of a group was still there but you have to put your golden chances away."

On Erik Pieters' selection admin error: "It was an oversight. We did notice it, Bournemouth noticed it and we managed to sort it before kick-off. Bournemouth, very gentlemanly, said they thought we had a player who was not eligible.

"You would like to think if it doesn't happen in a sporting manner there could be a story the other way but fair play to them."

Yeah this is a glimpse back into the pre-Bruno world for Manchester United fans.

It's easy to say the creativity isn't going to be there for Man United because Bruno Fernandes is not playing - he's a world-class player. You take him out of any side and you'll be lacking something. He's the type of player that other players go to when you have that ball in the midfield. You look for him to make things happen.

  8. CLOSE!published at 27 mins

    Manchester United 0-0 West Ham

Best chance yet! Victor Lindelof is very close to opening the scoring but his header is tipped onto the post by Lukasz Fabianski.

He didn't get all of it, it took a big deflection but that's still a wonderful reaction save.

Donny van de Beek then sees a shot turned over the top as the hosts wind up the pressure.

Better from Anthony Martial, sharp on the left and then nipping inside and playing a one-two. He cannons in a shot and Mark Noble blocks it with the small of his back. Just what you need on a sub-zero evening.

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport at Old Trafford

That's one substitute already for West Ham - but they still have four more to make as the FA Cup allows clubs to make five.

With an additional change allowed in extra time and the potential for concussion substitutes - hope we don't need them of course - it could be a busy night.

Purple Tentacle: Man Utd build up is too slow to cause much trouble. West Ham defending very deep. Could be trouble for Man Utd's very sleepy defence. They have the concentration of a toddler in a children's playground.

There will be plenty of people cheesed off that this is on BBC One instead of EastEnders/Tomorrow's World/Some antiques show and so far you'd be struggling to make a case for the disruption.

Manchester United have had 69% of the ball but we haven't had a shot on target yet.

One thing that Alex Telles brings to this Man United side is you don't have to think as a forward - he just whips the ball into the box. But would you say United have got that forward on the pitch today? We'll see if Rashford and Martial are on the same wavelength.

No goals in more than a year for Nemanja Matic but that's why - he strides on to a loose ball in midfield with authority but lashes his drive miles over the bar.

No goals at Old Trafford yet but here's one we made earlier.

Anthony Martial does great in the build-up to Mason Greenwood's chance but it's a great block by Aaron Cresswell. West Ham are struggling to get out a little bit.

  17. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 16 mins

    Manchester United 0-0 West Ham

Terrific stop again - Manchester United work it to Mason Greenwood on the right-hand side of the area and his powerful shot is well blocked by a scrambling Aaron Cresswell.

The Hammers then finally make that change with Issa Diop plugging the gap at centre-back left by Angelo Ogbonna.

  18. 'We didn't ask enough questions'published at 19:46 Greenwich Mean Time 9 February 2021

    FT: Burnley 0-2 Bournemouth

    Burnley

Burnley boss Sean Dyche, speaking to BT Sport: "We gave two soft goals away. We were chasing the game when we conceded the penalty.

"We made so many changes but it wasn't for lack of effort or desire.

"We missed a golden chance through Jay Rodriguez and asked a few questions but not enough. The difference in the performance is sometimes just a collective edge.

"Our keeper has hardly had a save to make. It didn't quite work out for us."

  19. Postpublished at 15 mins

Angelo Ogbonna's day is done I think. He's helped to his feet but can barely stand. Only now do the subs stir themselves so West Ham restart down to 10.

West Ham are a tough defensive unit to break down - a tough team to break down. David Moyes has done a great job with this side.
