John Arundell: Chelsea have taken their foot of the accelerater, big European game coming up and why risk injuries when we look comfortable.

Adaam Saalter: Newcastle are just so, so boring. They’re playing, but there is just nothing there. Compare that to Leeds yesterday. They lost as well, but they were still exciting to watch. This is just dreary.

It's great that Chelsea have the option of Callum Hudson-Odoi and Reece James - I think they're both really talented players.

    Chelsea 2-0 Newcastle

Sub Reece James scores almost seconds after coming on but a low shot at the near post is saved in unorthodox fashion by Karl Darlow.

Think it look a nick off Jamal Lewis which is why Darlow looked so awkward in making the stop with his legs.

It has been a better performance from Newcastle in this second half. It's one of those situations where they have to try and respond and they have been far more positive.

  7. GREAT SAVE!published at 74 mins

    Chelsea 2-0 Newcastle

Superb save from Kepa Arrizabalaga, diving full stretch to his left to push away Joe Willock's flicked header.

It was bound for the corner but the Chelsea goalkeeper got across brilliantly.

Eduoard Mendy has a task to retain his number one shirt on this showing.

    Chelsea 2-0 Newcastle

Looking at the replay again, I am bewildered.

Penalties are thrown around like confetti at the moment, but a blatant push from Jamaal Lascelles does not warrant a spot-kick.

    No idea.

Jared Maobe: In the 1st half Chelsea were great, quick sleek and should have scored 3 or four... then 2nd half they suddenly look slow and just normal against a poor Newcastle.

Marcos Alonso has been in full attacking mode at all game and gets forward to meet a cross but his header is straight at Karl Darlow.

Chelsea lacking a little composure in that final third as Callum Hudson-Odoi finds himself in a good position but aimlessly drills a low cross which is blocked.

Needed more finesse and care on with it.

  15. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 64 mins

    Here comes a Newcastle change.

Joelinton is on...for Dwight Gayle?! He played? I didn't mention him a single time in his 64 minutes on the pitch.

  16. Postpublished at 62 mins

    Chelsea 2-0 Newcastle

Cheeky from Jonjo Shelvey, trying to catch Kepa Arrizabalaga out with a shot from close to the halfway line but the Spanish goalkeeper deals with it very coolly, taking the ball on his chest and letting it drop to his feet.

There's a keeper in there somewhere and it looks like Thomas Tuchel might have found it.

Kepa has been very assured with everything he has done tonight.

  17. CLOSE!published at 58 mins

    Chelsea 2-0 Newcastle

    Chris Sutton
Former Premier League striker on BBC Radio 5 Live

You look at the recent performances of Newcastle, second half against Leeds they were unlucky not to get anything out of the game and against Everton they were superb and against Crystal Palace they had the better chances. The win against Southampton when they finished the game with nine men - Steve Bruce certainly hasn't lost the dressing room.
