    Timo Werner

    Goal drought OVER!

Chelsea double their lead, it is scruffy but Timo Werner will not care one bit.

Olivier Giroud causes problems by rising at the near post, he misses it, the ball bounces off Jamaal Lascelles' foot and drops at the back post.

Werner is falling over, stretching and somehow manages to scoop a finish in from close range.

VAR was checking for a Giroud handball, but it stands and Werner looks to the heavens before puffing out his cheeks.

    He needed that one.

Timo Werner might not be scoring but he's creating chances for his mates. It's really positive play - good switch from Andreas Christensen out to the left hand side. That little shift onto his left foot and that ability to get away from his man.

Karl Darlow palms it out to Olivier Giroud and he's not going to miss that opportunity. He lashes the ball into the back of the net with his left foot. Such an important player - he scores goals doesn't he?

    Olivier Giroud

    Breakthrough!

All about Timo Werner this, he wipes the blood off his face and then smacks Newcastle with a right hook.

The Germany international shows brilliant composure to make a yard past Emil Krafth and drill in a dangerous cross which Karl Darlow pushes out into the danger zone.

It drops nicely for substitute Olivier Giroud to smash home the opener with a well-taken strike from the outside of his boot.

Lovely ball over the top from Mateo Kovacic and Tammy Abraham is bearing down on goal, but Jamaal Lascelles recovers in time to make a superb challenge from the side.

The Chelsea striker was onside, VAR had a look for a penalty but it was a perfectly timed tackled from the Newcastle centre-half.

Timo Werner hasn't found the net in the league since last year but is not shying away from possession.

This time his cross is too close to Newcastle goalkeeper Karl Darlow, who MIGHT be on Gareth Southgate's radar?

Newcastle are going to have to be dogged, organised defensively. Chelsea are playing with a back three and Newcastle will be thinking if we are defending deep and peeling out down that left side they need to get Allan Saint-Maximin on the ball.
