West Brom needed to find the hope to stay up last week to be honest - they need to put some sort of run together. The point against Man United will have given them a lift but if anyone can get them sorted it's Sam Allardyce. He's done some incredible things in the past.

  4. 'Finally we have 30 points'published at 14:59 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2021

    Southampton 1-1 Chelsea

    Southampton

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl tells BBC Sport: "A very good point after the last weeks, we deserved more in the last weeks than we got, it was hard for us to play football, we did it one time when we scored and we worked on this during the week. We did what we can do, they pushed us to the limits and the point was the limit today.

"Takumi Minamino does surprising things with the ball, he is physically not the strongest but the intention is there.

"Danny Ings, as a striker, it is always a danger to tackle in the box, He tried to block the cross and when you touch somebody it is a penalty. After the equaliser we kept going so from 65 minutes onwards I felt we could take something from the game.

"The results have not shown what we have played in the last few weeks, now we finally have 30 points and can keep going."

Burnley have won only one of their seven Premier League matches against West Bromwich Albion (W1-D3-L3), a 2-1 victory at The Hawthorns on 31 March 2018.

Alan Pardew was sacked as manager of the Baggies after that defeat.

  7. Tuchel 'not happy' with Hudson-Odoi attitudepublished at 14:50 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2021

    Southampton 1-1 Chelsea

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel tells BT Sport: "Clearly yes, we had all the chances and all possibilities to take the win, it would have been deserved, sometimes in football you concede one chance and they score.

"I am not concerned about Tammy Abraham, it was not about the injury, it was hard for him to show his quality. He could not put his stamp in this game so we changed the formation. We brought in Callum Hudson-Odoi but I was not happy with his attitude, energy and counter-pressing. I took him off and we demand 100%, I feel he is not in the right shape to help us. It was a hard decision but tomorrow it is forgotten and he has all possibilities to start against Atletico Madrid.

"It is always a big week so it is mixed feelings at the moment, it will not be easier to score against Atletico."

Robbie Brady was subbed after coming on as a sub the other night - he was struggling with a hamstring injury.

Callum Hudson-Odoi got the same treatment earlier on for Chelsea, but he wasn't injured. What was the story?

  9. 'We need to be winning these games'published at 14:47 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2021

    FT: Southampton 1-1 Chelsea

    Chelsea

Chelsea goalscorer Mason Mount told BT Sport: "We had a lot of control in the first half. We spoke at half-time. We didn't create enough in the final third. It was poor.

"They had one chance and scored, they caught us off guard."

On growing up a Portsmouth fan and scoring against Southampton: "It means a little bit more to me. But the most important thing was to get the win.

"We need to win these games if we want to be up there. We need to look at what went wrong.

"I was next on penalty duty. I was always confident."

On working with new manager Thomas Tuchel: "I'm enjoying it. We need to keep winning and keep pushing for results."

    FT: Southampton 1-1 Chelsea

    Southampton

Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse told BT Sport: "[This point is] important. It's not nice to be on a losing streak.

"We knew it was going to be tough. We were up against a very tough team, rejuvenated with a new manager.

"It was a great finish from [Minamino]. He showed his quality and his class.

"[Chelsea's penalty] was their only real moment in the game where they showed us difficulties. Everybody to a man defended really well.

"We were up against some really good players so we showed that little bit of grit today.

"Every team goes through a tough period. The games come fast so there's plenty of opportunities to put things right. This was a good step."

More injury woe for Burnley as Johann Berg Gudmundsson and Ashley Barnes miss out.

It has been a recurring theme, not just for Sean Dyche but other Premier League managers too.

Dyche addresses the problem in his programme notes today.

"I've never known anything like it in my decade in management," he said.

"It is something we can only attribute to a heavy schedule and strange kick-off times and days.

"The structure of a normal week's preparation has gone out of window."

  15. 'A point gained'published at 14:38 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2021

    Southampton 1-1 Chelsea

    Southampton

Southampton winger Nathan Redmond tells BBC Sport: "We knew this (Chelsea having possession) was going to be the case, they have new management and a new style of play. We have watched a lot of their video clips, studied them to see how we can nullify the threat and earn our way into the game.

"It was great movement from Takumi Minamino for the goal and it just so happens that I could play him in, he has been great since he has come in and shown his quality.

"Danny Ings, you cannot say a bad thing about him since he has come here but things happen and we had to get back into the game by implementing what we can do. It is a point gained with the results we have had.

"A draw today against a very good side will hopefully give us confidence going forward."

Ryan Whitlock: Good point for Chelsea away, stronger side in the end but lucky to avoid the early red cards

Omonuku: It’s unbelievable how Chelsea have so many attacking players yet the coach keeps selecting a team with so many defensive players. This won’t take us anywhere. The earlier Mr Tuchel understands this, the better for him and the club. Gutted with the result!
