Matheus Pereira lines up the free-kick, even though the angle seemed to favour a right-footer, and he can only slap it into the wall.

Burnley look to break, they all go up to appeal for a handball on the halfway line but Mike Dean is having none of it.

    Burnley 0-0 West Brom

Another decent effort from range for the Albion - Matheus Pereira is slow to be closed down and he shoots, left-footed, but it's always too high and wide.

Pereira then lets fly again moments later and Nick Pope has to get a hand to that one. Good spell for the visitors!

Chelsea goalscorer Mason Mount told BBC Sport:

On new manager Thomas Tuchel: "We can definitely feel [his presence], especially from the sideline. He's come in and told us what we need to do as individuals and a team.

"He's changed things and hopefully that's rubbing off. We've had some good wins.

"We want to be up there. We need to win these games if we want to push as high as we can be. We know with the quality in the squad we can be up there."

Above all else, Sam Allardyce is known for his defensive organisation.

But his qualities seem strangely absent at West Brom.

His side are yet to keep a clean sheet since he replaced Slaven Bilic and the ease with which Jay Rodriguez found space for his earlier header does not suggest a new-found solidity.

Better! Good effort from Darnell Furlong, on to his left foot, edge of the area and he bends in a looping shot that has Nick Pope concerned. The England man flies to his right and the ball just skims the post on its way wide.

It's not dreadful but it's so bitty. There's no passes really, two or three constitutes a move. They're just doing the one kick move - hitting the ball up to one end of the pitch and then the other. But it is very windy, it's quite difficult conditions.

  12. 'Draw feels like a win'published at 15:13 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2021

    FT: Southampton 1-1 Chelsea

    Southampton

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl told BT Sport:

"It was an important point for us.

"We played to the maximum. Tactically, against such a strong side, it's important you're committed.

"I didn't see that many chances from them. With a little bit of luck we would've won the game.

"A draw today feels like a win. And it's a step towards us returning to our normal form.

"With the ball we weren't that great. It was tough but our goal was us at our best.

"Against such a strong side it was important everybody performed.

"No complaints about their penalty. We know the dangers of tackling in the box.

"We are believing in what we are doing. The Premier League is tough. For us, it is good that we take a point from such a strong side."

I know I'm going on about it but it really is windy. We may even see a keeper score today...

That's a chance, best one yet as Matt Lowton's cross finds Jay Rodriguez in the middle but he skids a header wide against his former club.

We've just seen a move with three passes, and that's been considered intricate play so far. It's very old school - just lumping the ball around and playing long free-kicks.

  15. 'I was not happy with his body language'published at 15:07 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2021

    Southampton 1-1 Chelsea

    Chelsea

Chelsea boss Thomas Tuchel tells BBC Sport: "We not only had possession but good possession in the opponent half, in the last 20 metres we lacked quality and that is the truth. We lacked determination, aggressiveness and more one on one chances. We controlled 80 metres, all counter attacks and when you control the match like this and you need a penalty to score, you see the problem is clear.

"I think we ended almost every chance ourselves, there was no need to save balls or do spectacular defending, we made wrong decisions, slipping, hitting balls too hard, too short, to the wrong guy, in the wrong moment, overall it was not enough danger when you are there. We lacked precision, that is clear.

"N'Golo Kante was excellent, Mateo Kovacic was too and generally they were strong. We need to take the opportunities for counter-attacks, use our speed better and if we don't do it, it gets harder and harder to score. We did not take the chances today."

On replacing Callum Hudson-Odoi after bringing him on at half-time: "I was not happy with his body language, his attitude with the ball and I feel he is not ready to give the energy. Hard decision for him today, tomorrow it is forgotten."

  18. 'Taking a knee needs to be a choice'published at 15:02 Greenwich Mean Time 20 February 2021

    Carlton Cole
Former West Ham and England striker on BBC Football Focus

Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha has this week said he will stop taking the knee before games and no longer follow the initiative adopted in the Premier League last season after the rise of the Black Lives Matter movement.

Former Chelsea and West Ham striker Carlton Cole said taking a knee remains a "symbolic" gesture, but "understands" why Zaha and others feel it is losing its impact.

Speaking on Football Focus, Cole said: "For me it’s still got to be a choice whether you want to do it or not. It is a message, a symbol, a protest to make sure that this [racism] gets stamped out of the sport and society itself. It is about being across the board.

"I understand that people are saying it is losing its novelty but for me it is still a symbol of where we need to reach. Until we get there if a player wants to do it, how can begrudge them? If they want to do it, do it. If they don’t want to do it, understand it. That where I’m at with it.

"I can see why players are starting to begrudge it now because they are still getting abused online. It’s like its not registering with anyone. They want change."
