    Harry Kane

This is dream stuff for Spurs!

A Harry Kane goal - and a Gareth Bale assist.

Bale picks out the England captain with an outstanding long-range sweeping pass. Kane still has plenty to do but lashes it into the net - with the aid of a deflection - from about 15 yards. Nick Pope was not getting to that.

This could get very ugly for the Clarets.

Not happening, Si. Tottenham are going for this in a big way. It's one-way traffic.

I hated that Bale wasn't starting the moment he joined us, but maybe, just maybe, Jose knows more than me on this occasion. Very happy to see Bale getting back to his best.

Sadly I imagine we'll sit back for 87 minutes now. That's spurs under Mourinho for you!

    Tottenham 1-0 Burnley

    Tottenham could be 3-0 up!

Son Heung-Min - who else? - finds Lucas Moura who powers into the box, evades one challenge, and then fires at Nick Pope.

Burnley's defence is all over the place.

Burnley are beginning to settle for the first time after a really poor start. Jay Rodriguez forces Hugo Lloris to work for the first time but it's comfortable for the keeper.

Tottenham are on it. They're not sitting back and Harry Kane goes ever so close to doubling the lead after getting a first glimpse of goal. Nick Pope was rooted to his line.

    Tottenham 1-0 Burnley

Gareth Bale's goal for Spurs after just 68 SECONDS is the quickest ever scored against Burnley in the Premier League.

That was the earliest of Bale's 44 Premier League goals.

Burnley are shell-shocked. They had hardly touched the ball when Bale scored. They completely switched off at the back - Bale totally unmarked when he scored. Sean Dyche will not like that.

I can't believe he has got that free run but it's great play from Son Heung-Min - he picks the ball out and Gareth Bale just has to tap the ball home. Bale does time his run to perfection, he is onside, it's a great team goal and great movement from Bale.

Dream start for Gareth Bale - and Spurs!

Bale marks his return to the side by timing his run to perfection to meet Son Heung-Min's pass and stab past Nick Pope from close range.

    What an impact.

Eight weeks today Spurs will be walking out at Wembley in the Carabao Cup final. Today, they have work to do to put their disjointed Premier League campaign back on track.

    We're under way.

It perhaps says a lot about Sean Dyche's state of mind in lockdown that when asked what would sway him to sell in-form Burnley keeper Nick Pope, he replied: "If they offered a bag of crisps, a pint of lager, in a pub, at the moment with the way things are going, I might actually take it."

Pressed further on what flavour crisps, the Clarets boss added: "Oof. Picked onion Monster Munch have got to be up there. Anything steak minded or beef. That would do."

Pope has been linked with a move to Spurs recently. If he stops Harry Kane & Co from scoring, it'll be 10 Premier League clean sheets for the England keeper this season.

Right, lots of reaction to come from the two early games but we're moments away from kick-off at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium where Spurs entertain Burnley. I'm Neil Johnston and I'm going to guide you through this one. I've got a pickled onion Monster Munch grab bag open. That's decent currency as far as Burnley's manager is concerned.

Both of these sides have been out of sorts recently, although Tottenham did get a good result in the Europa League on Wednesday.

I've never seen Burnley as easy to get at as they were against West Brom last week. They were lucky to hang on for a point against 10 men.

    Prediction: 2-0

Burnley boss Sean Dyche, speaking to Sky Sports: "There's been a good attitude towards performances and overall a good level of consistency.

"I'm expecting a physical performance today at least. We're asking a lot of the players because we have had something like 13 games in 42 days. But the players have looked more lively this week."

  20. 'Bale can hopefully make us better'published at 13:54 Greenwich Mean Time 28 February 2021

    Tottenham v Burnley (14:00 GMT)

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho, speaking to Sky Sports, about Gareth Bale: "Gareth is a player with quality who can help us. He has previously done well in the Europa League and he is fresh for a Premier League start.

"His last one was Brighton away so a few weeks later here he is. Hopefully he can make the team better."

On Dele Alli not starting: "He played very well on Thursday. Lots of players are pushing for a start in the Premier League but in this moment the Europa League is as important as the Premier League."
