  3. More from Dons boss McInnes...published at 17:55 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2021

    FT: Hibernian 2-0 Aberdeen

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes feels aggrieved at the decision by referee Willie Collum to award Hibs a penalty in the first half.

"I didn't think there was a lot in the game," he said. "Difficult surface, both sets of players going toe to toe.

"Big decision the penalty kick. I've seen it again and as such an experienced referee I don't know how he can give that.

"Jamie Murphy does well to drive into the box but toe-pokes it into the side-netting and spun up in the air. Joe Lewis is trying to get out of it and avoid contact. For me that changes the course of the game."

  4. 'We were so close' - Alexanderpublished at 17:51 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2021

    FT: Celtic 2-1 Motherwell

Motherwell manager Graham Alexander tells BBC Scotland: "I thought we really grew into the game, we had more confidence on the ball, and we scored a great goal from Allan Campbell who was the best player on the pitch.

"We went so close to getting that equaliser and on our second half performance I think we would have deserved it."

  5. McInnes doesn't fear for futurepublished at 17:49 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2021

    FT: Hibernian 2-0 Aberdeen

Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes has been asked about his future after defeat at Easter Road. "I'm fine with pressure," he said on Sportsound.

"We've been used to winning here and having strong campaigns, at the minute we're going through a tough spell. I always think it's better if we stick together and try to work our way through it."

Asked if he fears losing his job, McInnes said: "I don't fear it. "Managers get asked this question all the time, there's always somebody you're asking the question to. Managers can't answer that. It's the board that decide."

Asked if he would walk away, McInnes said: "Why would I? Not not at all."

  6. 'Shankland epitomised United win' - Mellonpublished at 17:47 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2021

FT: Ross County 0-2 Dundee Utd

Lawrence Shankland was undeterred by a couple of missed chances as he set Dundee United on the way to a much-needed victory with the opener in Dingwall.

Manager Mickey Mellon praises the Scotland striker, adding to BBC Scotland: "Good players bat it off [missed chances] and seal the deal the next time.

"He epitomised everything we were about today. He stayed in the game and slotted away his opportunity.”

  7. Mellon joy as United take 'steps forward'published at 17:44 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2021

FT: Ross County 0-2 Dundee Utd

Dundee United manager Micky Mellon is a relieved man after his side's first win in nine outings.

“We understood how big a game it was," Mellon tells BBC Scotland "We wouldn’t shy away from that. We thoroughly deserved our result.

“We are a work in progress. We need to remember so many of the players have come out the Championship. Today I think we took steps forward. When we had to get it down and play, we did that.

“You’ve got to stay realistic. If we were offered where we are now at the start of the season, I think we would’ve accepted that.

“We stuck in there and made it very difficult for Ross County. That’s what it took to get the result. That’s what we’ve got to do to be the best version of ourselves."

  8. Livi didn't deserve points after 'bad goals' - Martindalepublished at 17:40 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2021

    FT: Livingston 1-2 St Johnstone

Livingston manager David Martindale tells BBC Scotland: "I don't think we defended our box well enough.

"St Johnstone defended their box better than us.

"Bad goals for us to concede. When you give away two goals like that in any game, I don't think you deserve to come away with any points."

  10. County have to be more 'streetwise' - Hughespublished at 17:35 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2021

FT: Ross County 0-2 Dundee Utd

Ross County manager John Hughes tells BBC Sportsound: “First half was probably 50/50. We kept ourselves in the game.

“Second half we started really well. That bit of quality in the final third was a little bit missing.

“Then we shoot ourselves in the foot from our corner. After they scored the goal we stopped playing. I’m really disappointed with that.

“We have to learn from this. We have to be more resolute. We have to be more streetwise. We get bossed too easy.”

It could have been more than 2-0 and Aberdeen never looked like scoring. I can understand why the fans are frustrated, but I think Derek McInnes deserves to see the season out. The chairman has to make that call and performances like this will only increase the pressure.

  12. Ross pleased with 'excellent' Hibspublished at 17:28 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2021

    FT: Hibernian 2-0 Aberdeen

Hibernian head coach Jack Ross: "I thought we were excellent. I mentioned before the game about doing the basics well, and I thought we were excellent in that respect.

"Our work-rate, commitment and how we defended out box. And I thought we showed a lot of quality.

"We've had some dips. I think we lost our way a little bit in terms of our shape out of possession. We've worked hard at that.

"The players have taken the criticism on board, they've responded to it and their application has been excellent. The great thing is they're getting the rewards for it."

  13. Celtic agree fee to sell Elhamedpublished at 17:25 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2021

    FT: Celtic 2-1 Motherwell

Defender Hatem Elhamed is on his way out of Celtic, with manager Neil Lennon telling BBC Scotland a fee has been agreed with an Israeli club.

"He's really struggled with life here, his wife and young son are back in Israel and he really wanted to go home," Lennon says.

"He's been through a really tough time of it mentally and that deal will come to fruition today or tomorrow."

  14. Equaliser would have been 'great injustice' - Lennonpublished at 17:20 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2021

    FT: Celtic 2-1 Motherwell

Celtic manager Neil Lennon tells BBC Scotland: “I thought we were superb for long periods and 2-0 didn’t flatter us – we deserved to be more in front.

“Than Motherwell got a bit of luck with their goal and the psychology of the game changes.

“We got a bit anxious towards the end, but thoroughly deserved the win. We had to rely on Diego for a great clearance at the end, but an equaliser would have been a great injustice."

  15. 'Battling' St Johnstone delight Davidsonpublished at 17:15 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2021

    FT: Livingston 1-2 St Johnstone

St Johnstone manager Callum Davidson tells BBC Scotland: "Our players battled really hard. They made it extremely difficult for Livingston because they're a good team.

"We got the goals at crucial times. The three centre-halves were outstanding.

"They scored late on to make it an edgy finish."

  16. 'Celtic survive late panic'published at 17:10 Greenwich Mean Time 6 February 2021

Really panic set in for Celtic in the closing stages and it took an incredible goalline clearance from Diego Laxalt to secure the points. That will be a worry for Neil Lennon after how comfortable his side were.

A whole new concept here in West Lothian because David Martindale has lost a game as Livingston manager. It’s never happened before.

He took over for a League Cup win against Ayr United on 28 November and was unbeaten in 14 since then, until now. Two great St Johnstone goals ensure the Perth men take all three points.
