Kyle McAllister's goal seven minutes before the break is the difference between the two sides thus far.

It was a fairly even game prior to that, with neither team looking particularly threatening but McAllister's header has buoyed the hosts and they looked capable of adding to their lead in the closing stages of the half.

As it stands, Kilmarnock are heading for their fifth straight defeat.

It's been an entertaining game, but just the one goal at Celtic Park.

The home side started on fire, scoring through a Stephen Welsh header, then continuing to bombard the Motherwell goal.

But the visitors have survived the onslaught and have created chances themselves, with Bevis Mugabi having a header saved and Chris Long threatening from a free-kick.

Lawrence Shankland will be the most disappointed man walking off that pitch at half-time.

Twice the Scotland cap has found himself through on goal, and twice he has made the wrong choice to try and take the ball round Ross Laidlaw in the County goal.

The visitors have been on top, but it needs to be better in the final third from Micky Mellon's men if they are to end an eight-game winless run.

Motherwell's Chris Long makes a jinking run and gets taken down just on the edge of the box.

Long takes the free-kick himself, and gets it through the wall, but it's an easy enough save for goalkeeper Scott Bain.

Motherwell are continuing to stick with three up front. It offers them a threat on the counter attack, but they are losing the battle for possession.

They have form for this. Graham Alexander kept three up front even when they had 10 men away to Aberdeen.

It’s been a battle so far in West Lothian, short of chances but not lacking commitment and physicality. The craft and attack-mindedness of injured Josh Mullin is a miss for Livi, but Murray Davidson will be happy with how the Saints midfield is contesting things in his absence.
