GOAL - Leeds 1-0 Southamptonpublished at 47 mins

    Patrick Bamford

    Who else!

Southampton fail to close down Tyler Roberts on the halfway line and are made to pay heavily.

He squeezes a pass which splits the two Southampton centre-halves and Patrick Bamford has timed his run to latch onto the ball.

The England hopeful takes a touch in the box before rolling a precise finish past the reach of the diving Alex McCarthy and into the bottom corner.

That's 13 for the season for Bamford.

Lloyd Williams: That should have stood Southampton should be 1-0 up Where is VAR !!!

Perhaps the game needs an Audio VAR to assess when the referee's whistle was blown

It's worth noting that Meslier made no attempt to save the shot due to the second whistle, so it's more of a disallowed 1-on-1 than a disallowed goal.

    Bill, Bristol

Southampton have had a fair few controversial referee and VAR decisions go against them this season. Got to feel for them sometimes

Former Liverpool player Graeme Souness talking to Sky Sports about Southampton's disallowed goal:

"It is the correct decision, he kicks the ball just before the whistle. It is marginal, half a second, but the correct decision."

I've not got the Sky Sports coverage on but I hope Graeme Souness is not the pundit looking at that decision from referee Andre Mariner.

RegularJon: It’s a fantastic tackle by Romeu but how was he allowed to get near it?! If Raphina goes with his right foot it’s at least a shot on goal. Should’ve scored!

Zahi: For all the hype before top 6 clashes, this is the most even and entertaining half of football game we had all season.

The incident was really bizarre. Andre Mariner was looking at James Ward-Prowse standing on the free-kick.

Mariner turned away then put his whistle to his lips and seemed to blow just as Ward-Prowse played the ball through to Che Adams.

Leeds were static, were not ready for the kick to be taken but for some reason Mariner decided that he had actually NOT blown the whistle and asks Southampton to retake it.

He is bouncing the ball with the look of a man who may have got that one wrong.

Che Adams still remonstrating with the referee after that disallowed goal.

James Ward-Prowse almost scores directly from a corner!

Leeds goalkeeper Illan Meslier is nearly caught out by the flight of the delivery but has to react and push the ball away.
