    Belarus 2-1 Wales

To go from looking that comfortable to this uncomfortable is just incredible.

Belarus have been excellent since their penalty.

  2. CLOSE!published at 34 mins

    Belarus 2-1 Wales

Wales suddenly look extremely sloppy. Half-time can't come quickly enough.

Aleksandr Sachivko has just missed a free header from close range after James Lawrence lost him.

    Huge let-off. Should be 3-1.

This is really poor, we've given the ball away, caught out at the back. There's no cover in the first place and then not getting back quick enough, it's so sloppy. Before that penalty I thought Belarus were poor and now we're 2-1 behind.

  4. goal

GOAL - Belarus 2-1 Walespublished at 30 mins

    Pavel Sedko

This game has turned around completely.

James Lawrence is caught and Wales are ripped open.

Pavel Sedko scores from close range.

Lawrence was turned by Vitali Lisakovich who has been a class above so far.

Sedko is making his competitive debut today, what a moment for him.

Wales have played well, yet have spent the past five minutes shooting themselves in the foot.

Another great penalty. Nothing Danny Ward could do, even though he went the right way.

  6. PENALTYpublished at 26 mins

    Belarus 0-1 Wales

Penalty to Belarus! Chris Gunter is penalised for a high foot on Nikolai Zolotov.

Contact was minimal, if at all, but Gunter's foot was high. VAR are having a look.

    Penalty stands, Gunter booked.

Rob Page will be pleased, you can't ask for more than to be up after five minutes. Need to be careful with that counter-attack but he'll be really pleased with the movement of the front players and in general we've had a good grasp on the game.

    Belarus 0-1 Wales

A good bit of play there from Wales as they win the ball back with some high pressing and get Dan James motoring, but the Leeds man's shot is wide.

It is probably good news for Wales that James is set for much more first team football with his new club.

This pitch in Kazan looks to be bobbling horribly. Not that it seems to be hampering Wales' progress too badly.

Wales had failed to score in their past three games and they've found the net only eight times during Robert Page’s 13 matches in charge – but they've started superbly today.

You couldn't have asked for a better start. When you get the goal early you make better decisions.

  11. CLOSE!published at 17 mins

    Belarus 0-1 Wales

Really nice play from Rubin Colwill, his first flash, as he splits the defence with a lovely measured pass than almost sets Gareth Bale free.

However, the hosts broke from the resulting corner and Danila Klimovich curled a shot just wide.

    Belarus' best moment.

What a terrific opening 15 minutes for Wales.

They are totally dominant and have the goal to show for it.

They look bright and you would never know they are missing 13 players.

I feel like there's going to be a lot of space for our full-backs to run into if they want. Belarus have lined up very defensively here.

It's huge for Gareth Bale to score. When you go that long without scoring it's always in the back of your mind.

  16. YELLOW CARDpublished at 11 mins

    Belarus 0-1 Wales

Artem Bykov goes into the book for clattering Chris Mepham.

As a matter of housekeeping, I think goalkeeper Sergei Chernik was booked for the incident that led to the penalty, too.

  17. Postpublished at 10 mins

    Belarus 0-1 Wales

That goal ended a run of 12 competitive games for Wales without a goal for Gareth Bale.

He has contributed seven assists in that time though.

It's been a great start, the ideas are good. If they get that passing right it'll come. Don't take this lead for granted, with the start we've had we've got what we deserve.

  19. CLOSE!published at 8 mins

    Belarus 0-1 Wales

Another Wales corner isn't cleared and this time the ball falls kindly to Joe Allen, but his firm shot from 20-yards was saved by Sergei Chernik.

Really good start from Robert Page's side.

It's good early pressure, the ball is bubbling around, the passing quality isn't the best but they're reacting to the second balls. Gareth Bale's done well to react there before the goalkeeper who's nowhere near it.
