  2. 'Very proud of the players tonightpublished at 22:39 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2021

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Man Utd

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson to Match of the Day: "Very proud. We've had two very tough games, so I can't fault the players. There were a few times where we got the ball down in midfield I thought we look like we could score ourselves.

"These guys have spent four years together doing their best to keep the team in the league. I'm so proud of them and so grateful to them for what they've done for the club.

"We haven't dominated the last three games, we've had to work very, very hard against teams that are good at keeping the ball. But we've accepted that, we dealt with that. To keep Marcus Rashford quiet - that's a pretty good effort.

"I'm very happy tonight and very proud. It's only a point but the fact it's one point that takes us one step closer to that magical 40 mark. If we can do that against Manchester United, we should be able to do that against other teams.

"Three points would've been nice but there are those occasions where one is almost like three"

On his future at the club: "I'm getting on to 74 years of age! It'll have to be considered at some point but I can just enjoy the games for now. It's not going to bring me any dilemma in my life. We'll just see what transpires."

Manchester United are the fifth team to remain unbeaten in their first 14 away top-flight matches in a season (W8 D6), after Leeds United in 1973-74, Liverpool in 1987-88 and Arsenal in both 2001-02 and 2003-04.

Including last season the run is up to 21 games. Arsenal's 27 between 2003 and 2004 is the record.

  7. 'You have to be Burnley to get those plaudits'published at 22:31 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2021

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Man Utd

    Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace manager Roy Hodgson to Sky Sports: "It's an excellent point. Every time you play Manchester United, you know it will be a difficult game.

"They’ve spent an awful lot of money to put a quality team together. We limited their chances to relatively few. If anyone said to you before you’ll draw 0-0 against Manchester United I’d be delighted with it.

"You have to be Burnley to get those plaudits. We’re one of the few teams in the league to make a profit in transfer market in the time I've been here and we were against a team who have spent half a billion pounds. They’re entitled to have a better tea. mBut I’m very proud.

"We didn’t just keep them at bay, we asked them questions.

"If we’d have had a little more confidence and composure, we could have come out through the midfield and did better than we did.

"We’re certainly back again to where I’d like the team to be in the last three games."

  8. 'We just have to find the spark'published at 22:27 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2021

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to Match of the Day: "It's not good as you know if you want to move up the table, you need to win. You have to earn the right, you have to win tackles, you have to fight you have to play passes better we kept giving the ball away.

"The tempo was missing, once in a while it happens. It wasn't one of our best nights that's for sure.

"Roy Hodgson always sets his teams up to be really hard to play against and it just showed again tonight. A couple of times when we had the tempo in the right positions, we created decent opportunities but I don't think we deserved anything more than one point.

"Of course it's a concern. When you have three clean sheets in a row, that will help you win games but we haven't produced the quality. We just have to find a spark again, the quality again and try and wins the games.

"Dean Henderson saved the point for us as he's not really had too much to do. But that shows he is maturing and growing and gaining experience.

On the weekend's game with Manchester City: "We go into every game thinking we need to win and we want to win. We just have to concentrate on ourselves. We know we're in a fight to be top four, so every game is important."

  10. 'We were just a little bit off'published at 22:22 Greenwich Mean Time 3 March 2021

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to Sky Sports: "It's disappointing. We were just a little bit off. If you’re not spot on you won’t win games. Palace always make it hard for you.

"In the second half we never got going.

"Sometimes it’s human nature, sometimes you don’t work at your best. Today we didn’t. It’s been a long season – I'm not blaming that because everyone has the same season. You’re playing against a good team who make you play the way they want to.

"We kept giving the ball away. There were times in the first half we built some pressure, had some half decent chnces but kept giving it away. Then you don’t build momentum and that’s the game you get."

On Dean Henderson's late save: "That’s a Man Utd goalkeeper, sometimes you have to keep concentrating. He’s growing in that position. I thank him for one point and not zero."

On when David de Gea will return: That’s a private matter. It’ll take the time it takes."

Liban Dualeh: You can clearly see that with the lack of quality available to Ole, he is certainly making a point to the owners about spending money in the summer. The team is devoid of ideas and energy.

Phil Beck: Both teams should be fined for bringing the game into disrepute. Awful, awful, awful.

That was more painful than my bad back! And my backs killing me!

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Man Utd

    Manchester United

Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matic to Sky Sports: “Palace played solid compact football. They waited for their chances. They had a opportunity to win the game at the end. We have to do much better, we have to risk more in attack to create more chances.

“We are Manchester United, we have to win this kind of game. On Sunday we have a big game against Manchester City. We have to refocus for that.

“When we don’t win we are frustrated. The feeling in the dressing room wasn’t great. If we need to take some positives, it’s a clean sheet.”

TipsyBrownBoy: Rashford, Martial and Greenwood poor all season. No creativity without Pogba. Cavani gets no service.

Joel Salmon: That... might have been one of the worst games of football ever? United looked like a coasting, mid-table team at the end of the season with nothing to play for. At this rate they'll be lucky to get top four.

Congrats to City! Give 'em the trophy now! Think the whole league needs an early finish!

    Pat Nevin
Former Everton and Scotland winger on BBC Radio 5 Live

It's a fair result. Maybe Manchester United had a bit more of the possession and the play in the dangerous areas but did that make them deserving of the win? I think that would've been pushing it a little bit. It's been disappointing from United. There just hasn't been enough quality.

Crystal Palace were superb, good organisation - which Roy Hodgson's teams always are. There are problems for Palace but that's because of a lack of threat up front. If Wilfried Zaha was available, I suspect Palace would've taken three points here...
