Dean Smith says Anwar El Ghazi is out because of an infected toe.

"Unfortunately he can't get his boots on," adds the Villa boss to Sky Sports.

"It's a derby match. It's not as big as the Blues one but it means an awful lot."

Chris Wilder also paid tribute his former Oxford United assistant Micky Lewis.

Oxford legend Lewis died at the age of 56 from lung cancer weeks after being diagnosed.

"I’m still quite numb about it from how quickly it’s happened. He was a brilliant professional to work with and a close friend. I feel for his family," Wilder said.

"Three weeks ago he was kicking a ball in the park with his little one and last night we got the call with the terrible news. Anybody who knows him would know what a fabulous human being he was. He was one of my tightest pals since I’ve been at Oxford."

Welcome to the '100 Club', Ruben Neves.

The Wolves and Portugal midfielder is making a landmark appearance in the Premier League.

All five of Neves' top-flight goals this season have come in 2021 against Brighton, Everton, Arsenal, Southampton and Newcastle.

    Sheffield United

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder to Sky Sports: "We didn’t deserve anything from the game. The second goal killed us. It was another one of three, four and five mistakes.

"I haven’t really got an answer for anybody. It was a difficult afternoon to watch. They could have had three or four.

"We have to be at our best. The best players have to be playing to the best of their ability to be able to make it a tight affair or get a result. We looked off it and tired in second half. We looked like we’d run our race.

"There's always got to be a medium and long-term plan. It’s a fabulous football club. Our punters will be back and the club will be back.

"There’s so many things we need to address. It needs a bit of a shake-up in terms of bodies going out and coming in. We need to keep our best players. There’s a couple who need to go. They have to go at the end of the season. I’d like to shake it up quicker. The hand I’m getting given at the moment is a tough one, with some of the players we have to go with. We have to regroup and go again. It’s a tough gig. We didn’t play anywhere near the standard."

Adama Traore spent a season at Villa in 2015-16 without making a single league start.

"About Aston Villa, I’ve been there before, I know it’s a great team, but we will fight to win," said the Spain forward.

"We have been fighting well, each player has been fighting well in his position, I think everyone can mistakes, football has errors, and when you make an error, they have a chance.

"Our main focus is learning what can make us better than the last game and that will make us grow like a team."

Wolves will be delighted Jack Grealish is missing for a fourth successive game. Villa are much less of a threat without their talismanic captain. They've lost two of the past three games he has been missing with a shin injury.

Matty Cash is also a big miss. The former Nottingham Forest defender has played a big part in Villa's startling transformation from relegation strugglers last season to top-10 hopefuls this time.

Fair to say it's been a bit of a strange season for Wolves, who sit 12th in the table. They've struggled to kick-on after back-to-back top-seven finishes but Nuno Espirito Santo's side are looking solid for a fourth successive season in the top-flight.

They're missing Diogo Jota since he left for Liverpool while Raul Jimenez's absence with a serious head injury has also impacted the season.

Wolves' derby record needs work. Having lost 1-0 at home to Villa on 12 December, they were beaten by bitter rivals West Brom 3-2 at Molineux on 16 January.

Will Villa sneak a European place for the first time since 2011? Well, Dean Smith's side have an awful lot of work to do after their unexpected midweek 1-0 defeat at bottom club Sheffield United.

Villa have turned heads this season with their impressive form after surviving relegation on the last day of last season. But Smith is demanding a strong finish from his side, who started the weekend ninth in the table and seven points off a European spot.

"Everybody table-watches a bit, and with Sheffield United at the bottom of the league you feel it's one you should go and win," said the Villa boss.

There are 21 miles of tarmac between Molineux and Villa Park so where does Villa-Wolves rank in terms of rivalry? Well, it's not as intense as Villa-Birmingham or Wolves-West Brom.

But it still a fiercely competitive game. Referee Andy Madley could be in for a busy shift.

Aston Villa are becoming very difficult to predict. They showed they could cope without Jack Grealish when they beat Leeds last weekend, but they were pretty poor in his absence as they lost to Sheffield United on Wednesday.

Nuno Espirito Santo's Wolves were well beaten in the end by Manchester City in midweek but they were still hard to break down. They didn't get much of a chance to attack against City but, apart from that game, they have had a bit more bite recently too.

    Prediction: 0-1

  15. 'Hard to defend and nasty for second balls'published at 17:12 Greenwich Mean Time 6 March 2021

    Sheffield United 0-2 Southampton

    Southampton

Speaking about Che Adams' goal, Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl told BBC Sport: "We made finishing drills in the final session yesterday and I think it helped him. It is what you are here for as a substitute that you come on a show your qualities. He played well last year as well.

"Both strikers did a good job. Nathan Tella was the man of the match today because he was hard to defend and always nasty for every second ball."

On Danny Ings' injury: "I do not know yet. It doesn't look that good and it is a muscle injury.

"The first win after such a long time is always the most difficult one, now we have go keep on improving. You could see we had a few injured players back on the pitch and this is important for our game.

"We are looking in every direction and we still had some moments today in the game where we were not that controlled. But it's normal after such a long run without a win."

  16. 'Stark contrast to last year'published at 17:11 Greenwich Mean Time 6 March 2021

    Sheffield United 0-2 Southampton

    Sheffield United

Sheffield United defender George Baldock to Sky Sports: “It’s really frustrating. Not for a lack of effort but we’re coming up short. We’re getting punished against really good players. It’s a stark contrast to last year. It’s hard to take.

“I wish I could [say what’s gone wrong]. Maybe now a lack of confidence has creeped in. The boys are trying their hardest but getting punished at the minute.

“We have to take momentum into next season. We have a duty to try to do more for our fans. We owe it to them to start putting in better performances.”

  17. 'It feels good'published at 17:05 Greenwich Mean Time 6 March 2021

    Sheffield United 0-2 Southampton

    Southampton

Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl to Sky Sports: "The first win after a long time is always an important one. I think it was deserved, a good performance. It feels good.

"The team did what we had to do against a side fighting for everything. We could have scored more. That’s the only thing I could criticise. Nathan Tella played a good game.

"When you don’t have your first team on the pitch it’s always tough. We don’t have such a big squad. You miss players in crucial positions like right-back. When you get them back, you automatically feel more confident. You can immediately work on a few things we showed in the first half of the season.

"There are still a lot of games to go. We’ve been much higher in the table then we had this negative run. It’s important we can turn it round now."

On Danny Ings' injury: "Not so far [on an update]. It's again it's a muscle problem. It doesn’t look good to be honest."

They have shipped the first goal in 21 Premier League games this season - more than any other side.

  20. 'Huge relief'published at 16:58 Greenwich Mean Time 6 March 2021

    FT: Sheffield United 0-2 Southampton

    Southampton

Southampton captain James Ward-Prowse said: "It's a huge relief. We all admit it has been a tough run for us but getting that first win after a while is great. Every penalty taker has a bit of nerves but thankfully it went in.

"When you go through a spell like we did, everybody starts to talk, but there is belief in the manager and we executed our plan perfectly."
