  1. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 57 mins

    Aston Villa 0-0 Wolves

    How did he miss that?

Romain Saiss incredibly lifts it over the bar from point-blank range while unmarked after Conor Coady's header comes back off the post.

    Saiss should have buried it.

And yet again, with Grealish out, Villa are not getting the results. What happens if he leaves for a bigger club in the summer?

Wolves are already looking much more adventurous this half. Another decent move ends in Ruben Neves sending it over the bar. Much better.

Nicks: Switch over to Bayern v Dortmund instead of this snooze fest

Allan done: Second half will be better. Always is when Wolves are involved. I'm sure there will be at least ONE shot on target before the match ends.

It's happened, Allan. Did you see it? Great effort by Neto.

  5. CLOSE!published at 51 mins

    Aston Villa 0-0 Wolves

    Superb stuff from Pedro Neto.

Villa have a corner which Conor Coady heads clear and Pedro Neto uses his blistering pace to launch a counter before cutting into the box and forcing Emiliano Martínez into a decent save.

A rare moment of attacking threat from Wolves. More please.

Tyrone Mings pumps the ball forward hoping it falls kindly for Ollie Watkins. It doesn't. Wolves are able to counter.

Tattz: I find it bizarre in football that we say a player is 'unlucky' when they hit the post. Didn't they just, literally and strictly speaking, miss? Where Aston Villa ARE unlucky is in the injury to Grealish - completely different team without him.

    FT: Sheffield United 0-2 Southampton

    Sheffield United

Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder, speaking to BBC Sport: "They [Southampton] could have taken it from three to four to five if it wasn't for Aaron Ramsdale.

"I'm not looking for excuses. We are so much better than that but there was a gap at the end and it looked like proper Premier League players against a team that is struggling and is where it is in the division.

"Hopefully we can get a few players back quickly because we need our best players at their best form to get any sort of result in this division. That is not the case at the moment and our players are so up and down in performances.

"It's the hardest thing to take how they can play well one day and another they can be a four or a five. There have been too many games like that through the season."

No point in sugar-coating this. Apart from Villa twice hitting the woodwork, this has been drab.

Someone needs to go and check Jack Grealish is still awake in the stand. He'd liven this game up. So too would Raul Jimenez. Can't wait to see him back playing for Wolves.

Come on, guys. I gave this West Midlands derby the hard-sell but it's not panning out like I'd hoped. Plenty of effort and endeavour from both sides but little in terms of excitement.
