That's a goal and an assist now for Leandro Trossard.

  8. goal

GOAL - Brighton 2-0 Newcastlepublished at 51 mins

    Danny Welbeck

A wonderful goal and Brighton are in control.

They play the ball from right to left and Leandro Trossard finds Danny Welbeck. He cuts in from the left wing - Javier Manquillo is happy for him to do so - and he curls an absolute beauty past the keeper from 25 yards.

Saying that was Newcastle's best chance doesn't even cover it. That was their only chance really.

  11. HITS THE WOODWORKpublished at 50 mins

    Brighton 1-0 Newcastle

Newcastle are so close to equalising out of nowhere!

Miguel Almiron picks out Ryan Fraser on the corner of the box and he hits a wonderful first-time curling effort which beats the diving Robert Sanchez and hits the post.

Rob Gibson: Put Messi in the Newcastle team, and he would be chasing shadows and not touch the ball.

  13. Postpublished at 47 mins

    Brighton 1-0 Newcastle

A shame for Brighton as Neal Maupay doesn't play his pass quickly enough and Danny Welbeck is so offside that he doesn't even try to get the ball.

Regardless of results or anything else, this Newcastle team has managed to sap the fun out of watching football. Sport is supposed to be entertaining and Bruce has set up a team that just doesn't want to do anything bar not lose (and he's no good at that).

    Brighton 1-0 Newcastle

Newcastle haven't won any of their last 23 Premier League games when behind at half-time - losing 20 of them.

A 3-2 win over Everton two years ago was the last time they did.

Andrew Neill: Hayden not looking good. Lucky we have a ready made replacement in Matty Longstaff. Hmm, what? Despite having 9 subs we've not brought him? Again?

Bruce has to go, this is absolutely abysmal, we don't deserve Premier League football under his management. Get out!

You: Give me some Leandro Trossard stats.

    Me:

    • Trossard has scored in back-to-back Premier League games for the first time since July
    • Seven of Trossard's nine Premier League goals have been scored at the Amex Stadium
    • Only Neal Maupay has scored more Premier League goals for Brighton this season than Trossard (four)
  19. What does that goal do?published at 20:53 Greenwich Mean Time 20 March 2021

    Brighton 1-0 Newcastle

A Brighton win here would take them six points clear of the relegation zone, with a better goal difference than Fulham, who only have eight games left.

Newcastle would be only two points above the Cottagers - with a worse goal difference.

It's Fulham v Newcastle on the final day of the season...

There was another minute or two after that goal but the half-time whistle goes now and this could be a big one in the relegation battle.
