Down in the second tier, Hearts took another massive step towards the title and promotion after a 2-1 win over Dundee and are now 15 points clear of three chasing sides, although Raith Rovers in particular have three games in hand.

Queen of the South's fourth win in a row, away to Arbroath after being two goals behind, has lifted the Dumfries side from relegation trouble to level with Rovers and Dunfermline and above Dundee.

Managerless Ayr's win in Greenock lifts them out of the bottom two and above hosts Morton, with Alloa now five points adrift despite their draw with Caley Thistle.

A draw leaves Aberdeen with one win in nine games and manager Derek McInnes tells BBC Sportsound: "It was a game we knew the importance of winning. I thought we were good enough to get all three points.

"We tried to go as attacking as we could. While we get another clean sheet and we are another point closer to Hibs, it's scant consolation for the effort we put in.

"It's a real missed opportunity to pick up all three points. The more people talk about it [lack of goals], the players can get anxious. Sometimes you need something to fall for you or a bit of luck.

"It doesn't dilute the fact we feel third is there for us. But we have got to find a way to carry more threat and more of a punch when we are on top of teams."

St Johnstone are still in with an outside chance of slipping into the top six after beating Hibs and manager Callum Davidson tells BBC Scotland: "It's probably the worst game we've played all season, but the best in terms of fighting character.

"It's been a big week for the players emotionally and physically, so delighted to get the three points."

Livingston are still falling short of clinching a top-six place after losing to Motherwell and manager David Martindale tells BBC Scotland: "It was probably, since I took over, the worst game of football that we've put out there on the park.

"Our defending was criminal. I can't defend the goals we lost. We gave Motherwell three goals.

"It's indefensible and I play my part in that. It's up to me find a way to fix it. We need to roll our sleeves up."

Third-top Hibs' lead over Aberdeen has been cut to three points and head coach Jack Ross tells BBC Scotland: "I don't think we deserved to lose the game.

"Second-half, I thought we were good and we dominated a really good team in their own stadium. And I feel hard done-by we've not taken anything from the match.

"We are trying to create a culture and a mentality around the club that we're not nearly men, it wants to be that club that wants to achieve and achieve regularly, so we're still in a really good position to do that. We need to get back to winning ways, that's obvious."

Ross County are now four points ahead of Kilmarnock at the foot of the table and manager John Hughes says he's pleased with his side's performance but adds that there's still a long way to go before they are safe.

"We're absolutely delighted with the character the players have shown to come back," he says. "We're going to need that for the rest of the season.

"Even at 1-0 down, I still felt we were good enough to get back into the game. Fair play to Billy Mckay, he hasn't been playing every week but took his goals really well. It shows that, if you put the work in training, you will get game time.

"There's plenty of games still to come and we need to make sure we're bang at it for the rest of the season. It's going to go right to the wire, trust me."

Kilmarnock have replaced Hamilton at the bottom of the Premiership and manager Tommy Wright tells BBC Scotland: "It wasn't a great day for us. I've come out and defended our players in my four previous games, but the way we started that second half made it a real uphill struggle.

"We responded well, but the damage was already done. There was no responsibility taken and there's very little we can take out of that game.

"There aren't any positives from today. When you defend like that, we can't pat ourselves on the back.

"I still feel I can turn it around, even after a defeat when it's still raw I still feel that I can. The positive is we still have a number of games to turn things around."

Hamilton are off the bottom of the table and head coach Brian Rice tells BBC Sportsound: "You're always happy when you come to Aberdeen and take something home.

"We had a few chances and so did Aberdeen. I'm delighted - we had a couple of injuries, but everyone did their job.

"I couldn't ask for any more out the lads. Right this moment, it's good to be off the bottom, but come May, that is when we need to be."

Earlier, Scottish FA chief executive Ian Maxwell told BBC Scotland that there are no signs that Uefa plans to remove Hampden as a host of Euro 2020.

Explaining that Uefa requires a minimum 20-30% of the stadium capacity to be used for spectators, Maxwell said: "We’re working on that as a minimum and we’re working on trying to increase that.

"I think it seems feasible. The regulations that are in place we can work with. Obviously at the moment we have a spectator level cap of 300 and it has to be in a level one area and no-one can be under any illusions that is going to have to change, but there has been a lot of improvements.

"You look at the Super Cup that Uefa held over in Budapest. They had a significant number of spectators in there.

"That was handled safely, it was handled well. We need to learn from that and other events across Europe and ensure we can get the number as high as it possible can be while doing it in the safest possible way.

"If we can’t provide what Uefa require, the same as Wembley, the same as Baku or Bilbao, or any of the other stadiums, then Uefa have got decisions to make."

Former Rangers midfielder Derek Ferguson says he can "understand" the emotions that led some Rangers fans "to do daft things" and break lockdown guidelines to celebrate with their team.

"It's an emotional game," he tells BBC Scotland. "I grew up a Rangers supporter, but even when I watch other teams, I get caught up in everything.

"It is a little disappointing when we consider what's going round the country, but these fans have been starved of success for so long and they just want some way to thank the team and Steven Gerrard.

"Obviously it's not right to do it in the numbers they did and it can't be excused, but we all do silly things when we get caught up in celebrations."

Motherwell manager Graham Alexander tells BBC Radio Scotland's Sportsound: The biggest thing we're trying to find is consistency. The way we started the game set the standard for the rest of it.

"We really pinned Livi back for large spells. Our pressure told. We deservedly won the three points.

"We have to keep the pressure up. We don't want to relax, we want to win points, we want to win games."

Rangers players ran to greet the fans through the fence between the Ibrox stands after the final whistle.

Thousands of supporters had flouted lockdown rules to greet the arrival of their players before kick-off against St Mirren and many stayed behind outside during the 3-0 win.

It was joy on the pitch for Rangers, but their supporters have been criticised by the Scottish government for gathering in their thousands before the win over St Mirren that takes Steven Gerrard's side to within a point of the Premiership title.

A government spokesman said it was "extremely disappointed" that fans had broken lockdown rules.

"At this crucial stage of suppressing the virus, the actions of this minority of individuals jeopardises the safety of other supporters, the police on duty and the wider community."

Nobody was arrested, but Ch Supt Mark Sutherland from Police Scotland reminded supporters that "in line with current Scottish government coronavirus guidelines, all gatherings are currently prohibited".

"Our priority is public safety and an appropriate policing plan was in place and officers engaged with those present to explain and encourage compliance with restrictions," he added.

What a huge point for the visitors. That result edges Brian Rice's off the bottom of the table, a point above bottom-club Kilmarnock with a game in hand.

Aberdeen narrow the gap on third-placed Hibs to three points, but it will feel like two points dropped for Derek McInnes.
