  1. Team 'set up to try to win it' - Hughespublished at 14:38 Greenwich Mean Time 6 March 2021

    Ross County v Kilmarnock (15:00)

Ross County manager John Hughes tells BBC Scotland: "It's important we take something from the match - hopefully we can go and win it.

"We've set the team up to try to win it. We've had to pick them up after the penalty decision last week - hopefully we can use it as motivation to get a result today.

"We've struggled a little bit when we have more of the play. We've been good at sitting in and trying to nick it, but we can't do that today.

"We're up against a team with great experience and an experienced manager in Tommy [Wright]. We know what we're up against, but I trust my boys."

  2. Points vital at Pittodriepublished at 14:35 Greenwich Mean Time 6 March 2021

    Aberdeen v Hamilton Academical (15:00)

Fourth-placed Aberdeen have stuttered in recent weeks and know they can ill-afford to ship many, or any, more points as they look to reel in Hibs, who are four points above them having played a game less.

Premiership survival is the objective for their visitors, who currently prop up the table.

So anything they can take from their trip to the Granite City would be greatly welcomed as they look to prevail in what is shaping up to be a real dogfight at the bottom.

  3. Reid could be Saints' history makerpublished at 14:32 Greenwich Mean Time 6 March 2021

    Rangers v St Mirren (15:00)

St Mirren midfielder Dylan Reid will become the club's youngest-ever debutant if he makes it off the bench this afternoon.

Reid is aged 16 years and six days, while the milestone is currently held by Scott Gemmill, who was 55 days older when he appeared as a substitute against Raith Rovers in 2003.

Ibrox, even an empty one, would be some place to make history.

  4. McIness & Rice make two changes eachpublished at 14:27 Greenwich Mean Time 6 March 2021

    Aberdeen v Hamilton Academical (15:00)

Aberdeen boss Derek McInnes makes two changes to the side that fell to a 1-0 defeat at Celtic Park last weekend.

There is a change in midfield as Dean Campbell makes way for Dylan McGeoch and, in the frontline, Callum Hendry replaces Connor McLennan.

Hamilton head coach Brian Rice is without striker Bruce Anderson - who cannot play against his parent club - as winger Nathan Thomas comes in as his replacement.

In the only other change, midfielder Charlie Trafford come out the side for fit-again centre-back Jamie Hamilton, a move that should result in Hakeem Odoffin moving back into midfield.

  5. Bryson & Rooney missing for Saints, Nisbet starts for Hibspublished at 14:22 Greenwich Mean Time 6 March 2021

    St Johnstone v Hibernian (15:00)

St Johnstone's Hampden hero, Shaun Rooney, is missing after suffering a kick to his knee during Wednesday's draw with Hamilton.

And there are further problems for the League Cup winners, with midfielders Craig Bryson and Murray Davidson also missing from the squad.

Stevie May drops to the bench as Callum Davidson makes three changes from midweek, with full-back Callum Booth and forwards Michael O'Halloran and Chris Kane all starting.

Hibs make four changes from the 2-0 home defeat by Motherwell.

Ryan Porteous and Josh Doig return to defence, Alex Gogic is back in midfield and Kevin Nisbet starts up front.

Out go Christian Doidge, Lewis Stevenson, Darren McGregor and Jamie Murphy.

  6. Killie unchanged, four County changespublished at 14:20 Greenwich Mean Time 6 March 2021

    Ross County v Kilmarnock (15:00)

Kilmarnock manager Tommy Wright opts to keep the same starting XI that drew with Dundee Utd last Saturday

That means it's a second start in a row for nomadic striker Kyle Lafferty

John Hughes makes four changes for the visitors after last weekend's 1-0 defeat by St Mirren.

There's a change at the back as in come Coll Donaldson and Alex Iacovitti for Leo Hjelde and Stephen Kelly

Billy Mckay and Jordan Tillson replace Tony Andreu and Michael Gardyne up front.

  7. Same again for Well; four Livi changespublished at 14:17 Greenwich Mean Time 6 March 2021

    Motherwell v Livingston (15:00)

Motherwell have an unchanged starting XI following last week's 2-0 win away over Hibs. Graham Alexander is still without 11 first-team players and has teenagers David Devine and Dean Cornelius on the bench.

Livingston make four changes, with Ross McCrorie taking over from Max Stryjek in goal after being ineligible against parent club Rangers in Wednesday's 1-0 defeat.

Full-back Aaron Taylor-Sinclair, midfielder Steve Lawson and striker Matej Poplatnik also start, with Jason Holt and Scott Pittman dropping to the bench and Gavin Reilly injured.

Scott Robinson, who came on for Reilly on Wednesday and was then substituted in the second half, also misses out, but Jackson Longridge is on the bench following a knee injury.

  15. Will lightning strike twice for Buddies?published at 13:51 Greenwich Mean Time 6 March 2021

    Rangers v St Mirren (15:00)

If St Mirren are to put a spanner in Rangers' title works, they will have to end an eight-game losing streak at Ibrox, where they have not scored in their last six visits.

Indeed, they have not won in Govan in 19 trips since a 1-0 win back in November 1991. Can they scratch that 30-year itch and spring a surprise as they look to stretch the four-point gap with Dundee United as they look to secure sixth spot?

Of course, Jim Goodwin's side are the only team in Europe with a win over Rangers this season, but Steven Gerrard's side are unbeaten in 16 games since that 3-2 League Cup loss in Paisley.

And they are looking for a 10th consecutive home victory since drawing with Benfica in the Europa League - and have scored nine goals in their most recent two.

    Today's Scottish Championship fixtures

There's also a big game in the second tier, where leaders Hearts are hoping to stretch their 12-point lead over Raith Rovers and Dunfermline Athletic when they entertain fourth-top Dundee.

The two Fife clubs had their Friday derby postponed because of a Covid-19 case at East End Park.

Meanwhile, Alloa Athletic, already four points adrift at the foot of the table, are in danger of becoming detached as they host Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

Two in-form sides meet at Gayfield as Arbroath host Queen of the South, while Ayr United play their first game after the exit of manager Mark Kerr as they entertain another side in danger down at the bottom, Greenock Morton.

    Today's Scottish Premiership fixtures

Away from Ibrox, there's also a potentially massive game at the foot of the Premiership, with third-bottom Ross County hosting a Kilmarnock side one point and one place behind them.

Hamilton Academical lie behind the Ayrshire outfit on goal difference but won't find it easy away to an Aberdeen side chasing Hibernian for third place.

Hibs, meanwhile, are away to in-form League Cup winners St Johnstone, while Livingston are looking to clinch a top-six finish away to Motherwell.

  18. Fans already celebrating at Ibroxpublished at 13:34 Greenwich Mean Time 6 March 2021

    Rangers v St Mirren (15:00)

    Social distancing? What social distancing?

Despite no fans being allowed in grounds yet, the Rangers faithful have been descending on Ibrox in their thousands since early this morning, determined to celebrate even though the earliest they can be confirmed as champions is tomorrow, when Celtic visit Tannadice.

Just a reminder that Steven Gerrard's side are 18 points ahead of their city rivals with seven games remaining. And, if the title race is not wrapped up tomorrow, it goes on to Celtic Park on 21 March, when Rangers are the visitors.

    A mouth-watering prospect?

  19. Rangers within touching distancepublished at 13:30 Greenwich Mean Time 6 March 2021

Rangers can't win it today, but this could be the weekend when their 10-year wait for a Scottish Premiership title comes to an end.

Beat St Mirren at Ibrox this afternoon and they will be confirmed as champions should holders Celtic fail to beat Dundee United on Sunday.

Of course, we shouldn't forget there are four other top-flight fixtures today that are just as vital for the teams involved - as well as four games in the Championship.
