There will be a few fans inside the stadium tonight and they will all be frontline health workers.

Uefa protocol allows 300 people from club sponsors to attend and Slavia have set aside a third of those spaces for season-ticket holders working in hospitals and other health-care institutions.

  2. Slavia proud of Scottish rootspublished at 17:22 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2021

Slavia were formed in 1892 but didn’t get round to appointing a manager until 1905.

It sounds like that thrashing from Rangers had something to do with it, since the club looked to Scotland.

The story goes that they approached Gers player John Tait Robertson, who would go on to manage Chelsea, and he suggested John William Madden, a former Celtic player, who, like him, hailed from Dumbarton.

Madden apparently posed as an ex-Rangers player, even borrowing a club jersey and international cap for the interview. He got the job and stayed in the post for 25 years!

Known as the 'father of Czech football', there is a Johnny Madden Stand at the Sinobo Stadium.

  3. It's been a while...published at 17:17 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2021

    Slavia Prague v Rangers (17:55)

The sides are meeting competitively for the first time. However, there was a friendly in Prague way back in 1904, with Rangers running out 5-0 winners.

It would be a surprise if the visitors got it so easy this evening.

    Slavia Prague v Rangers (17:55)

As well as being unbeaten in the Scottish Premiership, Rangers have yet to taste defeat in the Europa League this season, winning seven of their nine matches.

After negotiating four rounds of qualifying, Steven Gerrard's men topped their group ahead of Benfica and demolished Royal Antwerp in the round of 32.

The Ibrox side have scored 33 and conceded 12 across those nine outings.

  7. 'Rangers hungry for more success'published at 17:00 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2021

    Slavia Prague v Rangers (17:55)

Some of the players had a few drinks on Sunday after a first title in a decade for Rangers. I'm not sure if Steven Gerrard joined in but he was certainly covered in beer at one point by his boisterous squad.

"Obviously the size of the achievement and the emotions that came with that, the players deserved to celebrate," said the manager yesterday.

"When you finally get it over the line the feeling is difficult to describe. But now we are back in the routine.

"I think the weekend gave us that feel for success and that hunger feeling. The players want to go and build on what we've achieved."

  8. Same again for Rangerspublished at 16:57 Greenwich Mean Time 11 March 2021

    Slavia Prague v Rangers (17:55)

Rangers are unchanged from Saturday's 3-0 win over St Mirren.

Ryan Jack is not being risked as he makes his way back from a calf problem and captain James Tavernier is still recovering from a knee injury.

Kemar Roofe is fit again and is among the replacements.
