  2. Must-win for Saints' top-six hopespublished at 14:27 Greenwich Mean Time 20 March 2021

St Johnstone v Ross County (15:00)

St Johnstone need St Mirren to slip up at Hamilton Accies if they are to snatch sixth-place.

If the Paisley side don't win in Lanarkshire, then three points would lift Callum Davidson's League Cup winners into the top half of the table for the split.

But the Saints would do well not to get too caught up with what is happening elsewhere since they need full focus on beating County, something they haven't managed in their past seven meetings.

The Staggies are four points in front of Kilmarnock at the bottom and have alternated between a loss and win for their last seven fixtures.

Manager John Hughes has been complaining loudly about the soft penalty Hibs were given last weekend and other recent decisions going against his team but that's not going to sway referee Craig Napier is it?

  3. Aberdeen search for new boss - and a goalpublished at 14:23 Greenwich Mean Time 20 March 2021

    Dundee United v Aberdeen (15:00)

Aberdeen youth coach Paul Sheerin takes caretaker charge of the senior team after the departure of Derek McInnes.

McInnes' eight years in charge came to an end with his side sitting fourth in the Premiership but having only won once in nine games.

Indeed, that narrow win over relegation-threatened Kilmarnock was thanks to their only goal in nine games.

Paul Sheerin also played for Inverness Caledonian Thistle and St Johnstone

Both games with today's opponents this season have finished goalless.

However, Aberdeen are unbeaten in six meetings with Dundee United since 2015, three of them at Tannadice, and today's hosts have their own troubles, missing out on a top-six finish after three outings without a win and dropping to eighth.

Former Dons midfielder Sheerin suggests he is not in the running to be permanent manager but admits that his own thoughts and that of the club could change if they finish the season strongly.

  4. An extra spring in Nisbet's step?published at 14:19 Greenwich Mean Time 20 March 2021

    Livingston v Hibernian (15:00)

Hibs enjoyed a 4-1 victory on a sunny afternoon when they last visited Livingston back in August.

However, Livi got their own back with a 3-0 win at Easter Road in early January.

Good away days have been a theme for Hibs this season as they aim to hold on to third place. Another three points on their travels would make it a top-flight club record of 11.

Kevin Nisbet bagged a hat-trick in that August success and got back among the goals last weekend with the winner at Ross County, just in time to get a first call-up to the Scotland squad.

  5. Killie fighting for survivalpublished at 14:16 Greenwich Mean Time 20 March 2021

    Kilmarnock v Motherwell (15:00)

The danger signs are looming large over Kilmarnock, who have not received any kind of new manager bounce since Tommy Wright took charge.

They sit a point behind Hamilton at the foot of the table having gone 10 games without a win - losing a frightening nine of those.

Worryingly for Wright, they host a Motherwell side showing some signs of recovery under their new boss.

Graham Alexander's side sit ninth, seemingly now clear of relegation fears, and are without a defeat in three outings. 'Well are also unbeaten in their recent three visits to Rugby Park without conceding a goal.

  6. Fitzpatrick to be proved right?published at 14:13 Greenwich Mean Time 20 March 2021

Hamilton Academical v St Mirren (15:00)

While Hamilton are desperate for points to lift themselves out of the relegation play-off place, visitors St Mirren can't afford to lose or they could be leapfrogged by St Johnstone for a top-six finish.

The bad news for Accies is that Motherwell - twice - are the only team Accies have beaten in 12 games since the turn of the year. Brian Rice's side are without a win in five outings and have not won in four at home.

Even better news for St Mirren is that they are unbeaten in seven against Accies, but a draw might not be enough since St Johnstone, who host Ross County, are only two points behind with a better goal difference.

Will Buddies chief executive Tony Fitzpatrick be proven right despite his prediction of a top-six finish being ridiculed by some pundits at the start of the season?

  10. Can Sheerin lift Dons from doldrums?published at 13:59 Greenwich Mean Time 20 March 2021

    Dundee United v Aberdeen (15:00)

    Tyrone Smith
    BBC Scotland at Tannadice

Despite a couple of drab, goalless draws earlier this season, this fixture remains among Scottish football’s most intriguing.

This afternoon’s Tannadice edition of the encounter has some added spice too, particularly from the visitors' point of view.

Life after Derek McInnes gets under way for fourth-placed Aberdeen, with interim boss Paul Sheerin in charge while the search for a new manager goes on.

As for United, their hopes of top a six finish rest on an unlikely set of events, including a handsome victory.

It's a big ask, but all they can do is try and take care of business and then have a look to see if the football gods have been kind to them.

  13. And so is League 2...published at 13:47 Greenwich Mean Time 20 March 2021

The bottom tier also returns, with the same revised 22-match target.

Ambitious Queen's Park lead the way and they host third-placed Stranraer. But is it the Spiders' last outing at Hampden?

A temporary lease allowing the former owners to continue playing at the national stadium is due to expire on 31 March.

It's not clear where they will play out the rest of their home fixtures this season but one thing is for sure, there will be a lot of stiff legs among part-time players this evening after such a long break.

  14. League 1 is backpublished at 13:42 Greenwich Mean Time 20 March 2021

Today marks the resumption of the League 1 campaign, which has been suspended since January.

Earlier this week, clubs voted in favour of a reduced 22-match season, with a split after 18 games.

Clyde, at home to East Fife, have the most ground to make up having played just eight games so far.

Falkirk are out in front and they host third-placed Montrose, while Partick Thistle v Cove Rangers is another eye-catching fixture.

  15. Play-off race heats up in the Championshippublished at 13:36 Greenwich Mean Time 20 March 2021

Hearts enjoy a 15-point lead at the top of the Championship, with the Edinburgh side visiting Arbroath this afternoon.

It's super-tight from second place down, with Dunfermline aiming to pull away from Dundee, who jumped up to third with a 3-0 win at Alloa last night.

Raith Rovers currently occupy the final play-off spot and a draw or better today would lift them back above Dundee.
