Mikel Arteta also used another phrase to describe needing to have courage.

My boss won't let me publish it. Although I am working from home so could sneak it in, log off and ignore my emails...

  5. 'We deserved to lose'published at 22:32 British Summer Time 3 April 2021

    FT: Arsenal 0-3 Liverpool

    Arsenal

More from Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta speaking to Sky Sports: "We completely deserved to lose the game. They were better in every department and deserved to win the game with the margin they had, or even more. I accept responsibility for the way we played today.

"They made the right decisions, we didn't. It is my fault. I have to set the team up to perfom in a different way and that is it. Congratulations to Liverpool because they were exceptional today. That showed the difference between the two teams - that when they play at that level, the margin is incredibly high.

"I don't have to use any excuses - that we don't have five or six players - the standards are much higher at this football club and I have to get them to perform at that level. It was technical as well. We gave every ball away and could not put three passes together. The basics weren't there today. If you do that against this kind of opponent, you get punished like we have.

"At the moment I am in shock. I didn't expect that because of the way the team trained. It is a challenge. A challenge brings an opportunity. If you have courage and you represent a club like this, you have to stand up and take it."

  6. 'I'm in shock - that was not acceptable'published at 22:25 British Summer Time 3 April 2021

    FT: Arsenal 0-3 Liverpool

    Arsenal

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta, speaking to MOTD: "They were better in every department. I take the blame, it's my responsibility. They were the best team by far. They won by three goals and it could have been more.

"They won every duel, every second ball, every challenge. To be fair I'm in shock. I didn't expect that one coming. It's my job to make things better. Today we hit a really low level. It was not acceptable.

"For sure we cannot hit that level again. When you represent this club you have to stand up and take the challenge."

  8. 'Trent showed his class'published at 22:18 British Summer Time 3 April 2021

    FT: Arsenal 0-3 Liverpool

    Liverpool

More from Jurgen Klopp speaking to Sky Sports: "We are slightly used to [not scoring early on]. It is our year if you like - we have not scored with our first chances. [James Milner] didn't score with a sitter pretty much. He thought the same! We have to work hard and try more often and all these kinds of things. Obviously we brought on Diogo [Jota] who is in very good shape. He stretched things. He played lots for Portugal that is why he didn't start.

"Then we scored these wonderful goals and Trent Alexander-Arnold showed his class, again. I don't want to make another discussion about Trent or stuff like that. I said it was Gareth [Southgate's] decision. He is blessed with the choice he has in that position especially but Trent is in a good shape. If somebody says he is not then I have to say he is wrong, that is all. I am not responsible for his decisions.

"We don't look at Chelsea or West Ham or whatever because we have to win our games but in our situation, other teams need to lose because we don't play Chelsea again or Leicester and all these things. We have to keep working and that's what we do. It's a nice time. Tonight the package was extremely good and that's what you need. You defend up front and deep as well. We got space for the counter-attack and everything. It was really good."

  9. 'Counter-pressing was highest level'published at 22:17 British Summer Time 3 April 2021

    FT: Arsenal 0-3 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp speaking to Sky Sports: "Very good. A top, top game. Our counter-pressing was at the highest level which is very important. In general, the defending from the whole team looked exactly as it should. I'm really happy with the whole performance and more so the three points.

"It is the first time in the season - Neco Williams came back and had a slight knock - but apart from the long-term injuries, all the boys involved tonight were fit and in really good shape. We could have lined up with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, or Naby Keita or Xherdan Shaqiri is in really good shape, so these kinds of things, it is the first time we have had that. Hopefully that will help us."

  10. 'Arsenal weren't in it'published at 22:14 British Summer Time 3 April 2021

    FT: Arsenal 0-3 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, speaking to MOTD: "As a package it was a good performance. We finished our situations off. Arsenal were not really in the game for the whole 95 minutes. That was down to us.

"We had to keep going and keep the momentum, We had to be careful with it and treat it well. I wasn't frustrated at half-time. We had to work hard and when you do that you have a good chance of winning.

"We're obviously not in dreamland this year. When people talk about you in the wrong way, you want to react. It was a sensational cross by Trent for the goal."

  12. 'We'll finish top four if we win all our games'published at 22:09 British Summer Time 3 April 2021

    FT: Arsenal 0-3 Liverpool

    Liverpool

More from Liverpool's Diogo Jota, speaking to MOTD: "We controlled the game. We didn't allow them to have much possession. In football you need to score to make a difference and that's what we did. Three-nil gave us extra comfort.

"I want to be involved in goals. I'm doing that. I was injured but I'm hoping to contribute to the end of the season.

"If we win the remaining games I'm pretty sure we will be there [top four]. We need to think about ourselves."

Chris Finegan: That's more like it. Fabinho once again dominant, centre backs calm and assured. Trent something like his best. Jota's excellent finishes. Sets LFC up nicely for Real Madrid tie.

  14. 'We have to win every game'published at 22:05 British Summer Time 3 April 2021

    FT: Arsenal 0-3 Liverpool

    Liverpool

Liverpool's Diogo Jota speaking to Sky Sports: "It was very important. I think to think about higher spots in the table, we have to do our job which is to win every single one of our games until the end.

"If we do our job we have a high chance to be there. It's hard to win in the Premier League but today we did our job.

"Sometimes you go a long time without certain types of goals but I was there to make a difference and that is what I try to do always."

On Trent Alexander-Arnold's cross for his first goal: "Unreal. Not just him, we have very good crossers in the team. We need to take advantage of that. Today it worked. It made me a lot easier for me to finish.

"It doesn't matter if you start or are on the bench, you have to be ready to make an impact. That's what I tried to do today and always. I wasn't expecting as much possession from an Arsenal team but in the end we controlled the game with the ball.

"It's another clean sheet which is important as well. Now we have a hard game against Real Madrid too."
