Matthew B: Chris Wood today showing why he's been a top quality player for Burnley over the past few years.
People are saying Newcastle should have had a pen for dangerous play by Tarkowski, but the sanction for dangerous play is (or used to be ) an indirect free-kick. That doesn't change just because it's in the penalty area, therefore, no penalty.

Martin Dubravka has certainly been the busier of the two keepers.
Bailey Peacock-Farrell has not had too much to do after stepping in for the injured Nick Pope.
Just one attempt on target from Newcastle so far.

Burnley 1-0 Newcastle
Fast start by Burnley and a lovely save by Martin Dubravka to keep out a dipping volley by Matt Lowton. Lovely shot but the keeper was equal to it.

Euann Kerr: What is the point of VAR?
Without VAR it isn't a pen either. The problem isn't the technology isn't the implementation.
Ben, Manchester
HT: Burnley 1-0 Newcastle
This has been a sharp and energetic performance from the Clarets.
It's only the sixth time in 259 Premier League games that Burnley have had 11 or more shots in the first half of a match.
The trick now is not to blow the lead like last week at Southampton.
HT: Burnley 1-0 Newcastle
Steve Bruce is without a win in his last 44 Premier League games when his side has gone in at half time behind (D5 L39) since a 3-2 win over Newcastle as Hull boss in September 2013.
HT: Burnley 1-0 Newcastle
Watching a replay of the Burnley goal and marvelling at the work of Chris Wood who disappears over an advertising hoarding after finding Matej Vydra. What a player he has been for the Clarets.

axp: No idea how that wasn’t a penalty, how does VAR not think that was a clear and obvious error????
Jim Martin: So kicks to the face are acceptable inside the box at head height. Good to know.
James Beswick: I have absolutely no idea why that is not a penalty, given as a free-kick without any contact elsewhere on pitch. But players seemed to just accept it, so now I don't know what to think...
HT: Burnley 1-0 Newcastle
VAR again ibeing discussed. Who would have thought?
Burnley 1-0 Newcastle
Big team talk from Steve Bruce coming up.
Burnley 1-0 Newcastle
Half a chance for Federico Fernandez but it bounces off his thigh and into the arms of Bailey Peacock-Farrell.
Burnley 1-0 Newcastle
An outstanding full-stretch save by Martin Dubravka from his own player Paul Dummett who had stuck out a boot in an attempt to make a clearance but diverted it towards his own net.
Burnley are finishing the half strongly.

15 years ago I would've taken Newcastle to beat Burnley every day of the week. Now, I wouldn't back them to beat Harrogate town (no offence Harrogate fans)
Lee, an old and miserable Newcastle fan

BBC Sport at Turf Moor
I'm not blessed with a monitor to see replays here, but on first sight that looked like a penalty for the high foot on Sean Longstaff.
Anywhere else on the pitch and that's a foul isn't it?
Burnley 1-0 Newcastle
Newcastle are not happy!
Dwight Gayle is thwarted by Bailey Peacock-Farrell but the visitors want a penalty for James Tarkowski's challenge on Sean Longstaff.
VAR has a look at it before play continues.
