Promising stuff from Newcastle in these opening stages with Jonjo Shelvey and Matt Ritchie seeing plenty of action in and around the Burnley box. We're yet to see a shot in anger however.

Bailey Peacock-Farrell's first action is a goal-kick after a Newcastle move breaks down. Ashley Westwood then pings it long into the box but Martin Dubravka gathers comfortably.

Joe Willock's omission is something of a surprise given he scored Newcastle's equaliser against Tottenham last weekend, but Steve Bruce has shown loyalty to a team which he said produced one of the team's best performances of the season against Spurs.

The question now is whether they can back that up. Bruce has been content with his team's "accumulation of points" over the last 10 games, which has amounted to a point per game.

That's usually enough to keep teams in the Premier League, but with Fulham losing against Wolves on Friday today is a huge opportunity to put six points between the two sides with Newcastle still having a game in hand.

We're approaching kick-off but before the action starts we're going to have a two-minute silence in tribute to Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, who died on Friday aged 99.

Burnley striker Chris Wood has scored in each of his last three Premier League appearances – the New Zealand international has only scored in four consecutive Premier League outings once before, doing so between July-September 2020.

Burnley defender James Tarkowski, speaking to Sky Sports: "We're not safe until it's over. The job is far from done and we need to get points on the board.

"It's a big day today. Newcastle have had a difficult season but they are a team still fighting."

Newcastle have failed to win each of their last seven games in the Premier League, although they’ve avoided defeat in four of the last five (D4 L1).

Last time out against Spurs, the Magpies attempted 22 shots, their joint-highest tally in a Premier League game this season.

On Nick Pope's absence due to injury, Burnley manager Sean Dyche told Sky Sports: "It’s nothing too serious but he hasn’t made the squad today.

"We’ve got faith in all of our players. Bailey [Peacock-Farrell] played over the international break. He’s done great for us whenever he comes in."

Nick Pope's absence is a huge blow for Burnley. The last time Bailey Peacock-Farrell started a Premier League match the Clarets lost 5-0. It was against Manchester City though.

Peacock-Farrell produced a brilliant late save for Northern Ireland against Bulgaria last month to earn his country a World Cup qualifying point.

It was so warm and sunny in Spain that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer decided to give his sunglasses an outing before Manchester United's Europa League game against Granada on Thursday.

He might have to dig them out again. Sunshine is forecast for London throughout the day.

It's been a good few days for Newcastle. Since Joe Willock's late equaliser against Tottenham last Sunday, relegation rivals Fulham have lost twice to Aston Villa and Wolves.

The Magpies have a three-point safety cushion but they'll want to get something from this game with their next five against Champions League-chasing West Ham (home), Liverpool (away), Arsenal (home), Leicester (away) and Manchester City (home).

They finish the season at home to bottom club Sheffield United and away...at Fulham!

A win would be a massive boost for Newcastle in their relegation battle. Similarly for Burnley, a victory for them would as good as put them safe.

The Magpies were decent in their draw with Tottenham last weekend and I think they will build on that by getting something here. I just don't see Burnley being beaten though.

Spurs could welcome back defenders Toby Alderweireld and Serge Aurier, who were omitted last week because they missed a Covid-19 test.

Full-backs Ben Davies and Matt Doherty remain out.

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hopeful Luke Shaw will be fit despite his half-time withdrawal during Thursday's win in Granada.

Marcus Rashford continues to play with an ankle injury, while Anthony Martial could be out for the season.
