No wonder Fred looked overjoyed. He has scored just his second Premier League goal, and first since September 2018 v Wolves. He had attempted 73 league shots without scoring between the two strikes.

Harry Kane forces a smart save from Dean Henderson after getting the better of Aaron Wan-Bissaka. That was a lovely team move which ended with Son's threaded pass to Kane.

Aaron Gulliver: Jose out. He is far too negative. Spurs can not defend a one goal lead. Haven't been able to all season. Jose has no plan B.

I wonder who Jose will blame this week? As we know, it certainly won't be himself...

It's a huge chance for Manchester United! It was a great ball by Luke Shaw and Paul Pogba, he's trying to be too clever. I don't understand what he was trying to do back heeling it?!

Tottenham are being sliced open at the back. Paul Pogba attempts an audacious back-heel goal from close range but it spins off the boot of a Spurs defender to safety.

Meanwhile, Luke Shaw has become the fourth United player to be booked for a foul on Lucas Moura.

Good game second half. Manchester United have started on the front foot but Jose Mourinho had to make a change - and Spurs are just starting to get on the front foot themselves.

Shamsheer Chelsea: Think we can all agree that VAR is making our beautiful game uglier every passing day. Painful.

I have loved football since I was 6, I am in my 30's now. But football has been ruined by over protective refs, stupid rule changes and VAR. There is no enjoyment in the game anymore. I have turned a game off for the last time, football will never be the same and it's a shame.

Dax Fullbrook: Dier lost his man again. No shocker there.

Andrew Mitchell: Fred is often a target of everyone’s ire, so only fair to applaud some excellent work from him there. Cracking stuff.

Marc Anthony Quinn: I take back what I literally just said about Fred!! What a player......apparently.

Tottenham are just sitting back too much. No midfielders were tracking Fred and it's a poor from Spurs again.

That's why fans are getting frustrated, because they take the lead then just sit back and are inviting pressure.

Spurs are not good enough defensively to sit back and defend the whole second half. Manchester United have been the better team and are on the front foot.

    Fred

    That's a lovely goal.

Fred cannot miss and he doesn't as he sweeps home inside the six yard box after Hugo Lloris palms away Edinson Cavani's attempt.

This has been a really strong start to the half by United and it leaves the game nicely poised.

Edinson Cavani's movement is first class and Paul Pogba knows where he is - and Eric Dier doesn't! Dier doesn't check his shoulders and you must when you play against someone like Cavani.
