Derby County have failed to score in 19 league matches this season, so amazing stuff for Wayne Rooney's side there.

    Lee Gregory (7 mins)

Derby take an early lead at Pride Park as Lee Gregory gets the final touch on a ball back across the face of goal from Martyn Waghorn.

Ball in across from the right caused problems for the Luton defence initially.

    Cardiff City 0-0 Nottingham Forest

Cardiff also looking for a win that would keep them on the cusp of the play-offs.

Leandro Bacuna goes close for them in the early stages with a low shot across goal that Brice Samba gets down to make the save with his right hand.

My beloved Rochdale have just gone 1-0 down to Portsmouth.

They've just been exposed and the defenders are claiming for offside but that doesn't look like the case.

Watford are absolutely flying and have the perfect start.

The ball is sprayed crossfield to the right flank, and Ismaila Sarr's low cross is put into his own net by despairing Wednesday centre-back Tom Lees.

The visitors appeal to the officials - perhaps for offside against Sarr - but the goal stands!

The Hornets are on track for a sixth straight win.

    League Two update

Some early goals in League Two.

Cheltenham's patchy form has seen them slip off the top of the table. It's a massive game today against Tranmere in fourth but it's the Gloucestershire side who lead through Conor Thomas.

At the other end of the table, Harry Clifton has given bottom side Grimsby the lead at Salford. The Mariners start the day six points from safety.

Exeter are chasing the play-offs but they're behind at Port Vale thanks to Theo Robinson's second-minute goal.

It's been so difficult for the Salford players to get used to different managers and different styles of play.

Gary Bowyer's side are behind at home to League Two's bottom side Grimsby Town.

  8. Postpublished at 15:06 British Summer Time 2 April 2021

    Bournemouth 0-0 Middlesbrough

Bright sunshine on the south coast, but chilly in the shade at Bournemouth where the hosts are looking to put pressure on the play-off pack with a win.

Boro can also keep themselves in the mix with a win, but a very quiet start to proceedings so far at the Vitality Stadium.

A fabulous start for Ipswich but it looks like a very, very scruffy goal.

A first-minute Luke Leahy own goal has put Paul Cook's side in front ahead against Bristol Rovers in League One.

GOAL: QPR 1-0 Coventrypublished at 15:04 British Summer Time 2 April 2021

    Chris Willock (2 mins)

Coventry have the second-worst away record in the Championship, and have made a rotten start in west London.

QPR take the lead with a flowing move down the left.

Ilias Chair reverses the ball to an over-lapping Lee Wallace, and his cross is converted by Chris Willock from six yards out.

Only the division's top two have won more league games than QPR in 2021.

  11. Postpublished at 15:04 British Summer Time 2 April 2021

    Preston 0-0 Norwich

Top-of-the-table Norwich have made four changes for their trip to Deepdale, with three of those in the back line.

Andrew Omobamidele makes his first Championship start at centre-back, while right-back Bali Mumba and left-back Xavi Quintilla come into the side.

Win today and the Canaries will set a new club record of 14 away wins in a league campaign.

Fleetwood against Peterborough will be a good one in League One today. Fleetwood's always a tough place to go so that's a standout game for me today.

Nine Championship games are getting under way now, with leaders Norwich City in action at Preston.

The Canaries need a maximum of 14 more points to secure promotion to the Premier League.

The action is also getting started in League One and League Two.

In the fourth tier, promotion-chasing Bolton have had to settle for a 0-0 draw at home against Colchester.

Easter weekend is often defined as a pivotal weekend in the season in terms of matters at both ends of the table.

Will Norwich have almost returned to the top tier come the next two games?

Will Wycombe's visit to the Championship be all but over come the end of the long weekend?

Let us know who you think will be taking a big step towards either promotion or relegation in the days ahead using #bbcefl

  16. Time running out for Wycombepublished at 14:55 British Summer Time 2 April 2021

    Wycombe v Blackburn (15:00 BST)

Wycombe start the day 11 points from safety with eight games to play and the clock ticking on their life in the Championship.

Manager Gareth Ainsworth is a Blackburn boy and will hope for better than his return to Ewood Park back in September when his side were hammered 5-0.

Those were promising early days for Rovers who have settled into mid-table among some inconsistent form.

But they're without a win in four ahead of their first visit to Adams Park and remain without top scorer Adam Armstrong.

Derby County and Coventry City are both trying to lift themselves further away from the bottom three.

The Rams, who are seven without a win, host Luton Town while the Sky Blues travel to QPR on the back of one victory in six.

Bottom club Wycombe Wanderers are running out of time to mount a survival bid, heading into the weekend 11 points from safety.

The Chairboys entertain out-of-form Blackburn, who have won just once in 12 league outings.

And Bristol City and Stoke City, two clubs whose hopes of a play-off finish are almost over, meet at Ashton Gate.

  18. Crunch fixtures in fourth tierpublished at 14:52 British Summer Time 2 April 2021

    League Two preview

Five points covered the top six in League Two at the start of the day.

That could all change this afternoon, with a couple of heavyweight clashes.

Leaders Cambridge United host sixth-placed Morecambe, while Cheltenham (2nd) entertain Tranmere (3rd).

Fourth-placed Forest Green go to Bradford, who are looking to revive their play-off bid.

At the bottom, Barrow could move six points clear of the drop zone, with fellow strugglers Southend not in action until tomorrow.

In the early kick-offs, Crawley have grabbed a point at Scunthorpe.

High-flying Bolton have 10 wins in 11 but look like they will be held by Colchester in Hayden Mullins' first game in charge of the U's.

    • Bolton Wanderers 0-0 Colchester United (latest)
    • Scunthorpe United 0-0 Crawley Town FT
    • Barrow v Newport County
    • Bradford City v Forest Green Rovers

  19. Tigers, Posh and Black Cats vie for positionpublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 2 April 2021

    League One preview

The fight for two automatic spots is heating up in the third tier, with leaders Hull three points ahead of third-placed Sunderland.

The Tigers go to Crewe, second-placed Peterborough make the trip to Fleetwood while the Black Cats host play-off chasing Oxford.

The relegation battle remains tight, with just three points between Swindon in 19th and Bristol Rovers in 23rd.

Lincoln City's next two games, against MK Dons and Charlton, have been called off because of a Covid-19 outbreak in the Imps camp.

In the early kick-off, Ian Maatsen's first senior goal was enough for Charlton to beat Doncaster and move the Addicks into the top six temporarily.

    • Doncaster Rovers 0-1 Charlton Athletic FT
    • Accrington Stanley v Burton Albion
    • Crewe Alexandra v Hull City
    • Fleetwood Town v Peterborough United
    • Ipswich Town v Bristol Rovers
    • Northampton Town v Shrewsbury Town
    • Plymouth Argyle v AFC Wimbledon
    • Portsmouth v Rochdale
