It's been a stop-start campaign for Rotherham United, who have had two outbreaks of coronavirus in their squad and have played the fewest games in the second tier.

The Millers occupy the final relegation slot but hold at least three games in hand on the clubs around them.

The strugglers start the day three points behind Birmingham City will move out of the relegation zone for at least a few hours if they win at Millwall, with the Blues not at action until 20:00 BST against Swansea.

The Lions still have faint hopes of making the play-offs but will need to be near-perfect from now until the end of the season to make up a 10-point gap to sixth-placed Reading.

Cardiff City are one of a trio of clubs clinging to the coat-tails of the top six, with one win in their past four denting the Welsh side's hopes of a play-off berth.

But Bluebirds manager Mick McCarthy wants his side to be ready to pounce if fear of failure starts affecting their rivals.

"If you're in the top six, all you worry about is falling out of it," the former Republic of Ireland boss said.

"The last thing you want is to drop out now."

Nottingham Forest boss Chris Hughton will be wary about dropping back down the table too.

The Reds have climbed to seven points clear of the relegation zone but a six-match winless streak means they are not certain of survival just yet.

It's a big day for Bournemouth head coach Jonathan Woodgate, who welcomes former club Middlesbrough to the south coast.

The 41-year-old was sacked with eight games of last season remaining, in what was his maiden managerial campaign.

And with both clubs looking to keep in the hunt for a play-off place, Woodgate could dent Boro's promotion bid.

The Cherries start the day three points off the top six, and victory would take them above Reading for at least a couple of hours.

Neil Warnock's Teessiders are two places and three points below the hosts in ninth, and have lost their past two away games.

Xisco Munoz has transformed Watford's hopes of an immediate return to the top flight, with nine wins in 10 putting them in the frame for automatic promotion.

The Hornets were fifth in the table and four points off the automatic promotion places when the Spaniard took charge in December.

And the Vicarage Road outfit begin the Easter weekend in second, with a six-point cushion to the play-off places.

At the other end of the table, new Sheffield Wednesday boss Darren Moore secured his first win at the fifth attempt with a 2-1 victory at Barnsley last time out.

But the 46-year-old will be absent from the dugout today after testing positive for Covid-19.

Norwich need a maximum of 14 more points to be sure of an immediate return to the Premier League.

It's been a bit of a procession for the Canaries recently, with their 1-1 draw at Blackburn on 20 March ending a run of nine straight wins.

Striker Teemu Pukki had a slow start to the season by his standards but has 11 goals in his past 10 Championship games and netted three times for Finland over the international break.

The Norfolk side travel to Preston North End, who have Frankie McAvoy in interim charge for the first time following the sacking of Alex Neil.

The Scot had been with the Lilywhites since July 2017 but departed on 21 March after one win in nine outings.

There are 11 games in the second tier today, with nine of them kicking off at 15:00 BST.
