I think everyone was talking about John McGinn's goal and how he is best placed further forward. So it is no surprise he is up there with Che Adams. Lyndon Dykes didn't do a lot wrong against Austria but maybe Steve Clarke wants something different.

  2. Scotland need 'arrogance' - McTominaypublished at 19:24 British Summer Time 28 March 2021

    Israel v Scotland (19:45)

Scotland need to be "arrogant" enough to "go to Israel and dominate them" says Scott McTominay as he lamented beginning the World Cup 2022 qualifying campaign with just a 2-2 draw at home to Austria.

Scotland twice fought back from behind against Group F's second seeds.

Grant Hanley scored his first Scotland goal in eight years, and John McGinn scored a late acrobatic overhead kick, to cancel out Sasa Kalajdzic's double.

"We should have got more," he said.

  3. Six Nations win inspires goalkeeper David Marshallpublished at 19:19 British Summer Time 28 March 2021

    Israel v Scotland (19:45)

We're all about the football tonight, but we can't ignore Scotland rugby team's triumph on Friday night - beating France in Paris for the first time since 1999.

Duhan van der Merwe's late, late try sealed the win, and Scotland goalkeeper David Marshall was glued to the match on the TV.

"That passion, you just felt it was going to happen," said Marshall.

"We caught their second half, most of the squad, especially the last five minutes was amazing to see. We were enthralled by it. Seeing that last five minutes was brilliant. There's a feelgood factor."

  4. Too early for targets, says Steve Clarkepublished at 19:10 British Summer Time 28 March 2021

    Israel v Scotland (19:45)

Scotland "haven't set a target" for their opening World Cup qualifiers as they prepare for their second group game, says manager Steve Clarke.

The Scots drew 2-2 with Austria on Thursday and host the Faroe Islands on Wednesday after tonight's away match against Israel.

Israel opened their campaign with a 2-0 home defeat by Denmark.

"It's too early - I said before I think the section is going to be a little bit unpredictable," said Clarke.

"No, I haven't set a target. You set yourself a points target and you don't reach it, you disappoint yourself. So, it's better just to take each game as a game and get the points you can get out of the game."

  5. Hello old friendpublished at 19:02 British Summer Time 28 March 2021

    Israel v Scotland (19:45)

It's important during these unprecedented times you keep in touch with your pals, and Scotland have certainly been doing that with Israel. They've now had five meetings over the past two-and-a-half years. I've visited my mother less than that (which reminds me, it's her birthday on Tuesday, where can I find a Stuart Armstrong card?).

But can you remember the Scotland line-up that faced Israel in 2018?

Give the BBC Scotland quiz a try.

I got 12 out of 14. The centre-half who got sent off, and the former Wolves and Sheffield United midfielder, both scunnered me.

  6. FULL-TIME Denmark 8-0 Moldovapublished at 18:57 British Summer Time 28 March 2021

Denmark beat Moldova 8-0 in Group F, which gives them a goal difference of +10 already after their 2-0 win away to Israel on Thursday.

Impressive. Though, they face Austria on Wednesday which should, you imagine, be a much tougher test.

    Israel v Scotland (19:45)

Scotland played Israel three times in 2020, losing away in November.

Both of the Hampden matches were drawn but the Scots won the penalty shoot-out in the European Championship play-off semi-final.

Hibernian goalkeeper Ofir Marciano started Israel's defeat by Denmark on Thursday. Celtic midfielder Nir Bitton was named in Willibald Ruttensteiner's squad for Israel's opening three games but was not listed against the Danes and has reportedly withdrawn injured.

  9. Latest elsewhere in Group Fpublished at 18:43 British Summer Time 28 March 2021

    Denmark 8-0 Moldova

Denmark have now gone 8-0 up against Moldova, and look like they'll be making it two wins from two.

They won in Israel on Thursday too. With only top spot in the group securing automatic qualification for the World Cup, it makes it all the more vital Scotland don't slip up tonight.

While we're talking about how to qualify - it's the group winners who make it to Qatar. The 10 runners up, and the two highest placed Nations League winners who haven't finished in the top two of their group, go into the play-offs.

    Israel v Scotland (19:45)

Here's the team BBC Sport Scotland readers voted for tonight.

Fans want to see Scott McTominay remain in midfield, while Thursday's goalscorer Grant Hanley would retain his place in defence, although it would be more of a 4-3-3 formation.

  14. How Group F standspublished at 18:15 British Summer Time 28 March 2021

    Israel v Scotland (19:45)

After matchday one, group F top seeds Denmark lead the way after they beat Israel 2-0 away from home on Thursday. That sets down the challenge to Scotland to at least take something from the game this evening.

Denmark have actually kicked off their second game early - it was a 17:00 start at home to Moldova - and at half-time were already 5-0 up, with the score currently at 6-0.

Austria are at home to Faroe Islands (19:45) and it will be a major shock if they don't take the three points in that one too.

After Thursday's 2-2 draw with Austria, Scotland are in Tel Aviv this evening before welcoming Faroe Islands to Hampden on Wednesday If Scotland can get seven points from a possible nine, then it's not been a bad opening triple header at all.
